OTTAWA, Ontario — A Canadian man recently freed with his American wife and children after years being held hostage in Afghanistan has been arrested and faces 15 charges including sexual assault, forcible confinement and administering a noxious drug, court documents indicated Tuesday. Joshua Boyle, his wife Caitlan, and their three children were rescued last October in Pakistan, five years after the couple was abducted by a Taliban-linked militant group while on a backpacking trip in neighboring Afghanistan. The children were born in captivity. The charges include eight counts of assault, two accounts of sexual assault, two counts of unlawful confinement

The guy is just plain nuts. Hiking with a pregnant wife in the middle of a war zone? She is not wrapped too tight either if she did it voluntarily. They definitely should not be having children.

Political spinning about the Department of Justice’s Inspector General’s report that came out last Thursday is all about shiny bits and pieces of the report. It misses the events outside the report’s four corners that magnify its importance tenfold. Let’s pull back on the stick, gain some altitude, and examine some of the more important facts. When we do, we have to conclude that the Augean Stables on Pennsylvania Avenue — the Justice Department building and, across the street, the J. Edgar Hoover FBI building — have to be cleaned out. The IG’s report, which lays out the results of its examination

When David and Shirley Pirlott filed a federal labor complaint against Teamsters Local 75 on Nov. 8, 1987, the day before the Berlin Wall fell, they did not imagine they would have to wait 30 years to resolve the dispute. The Pirlotts were finally vindicated in March 2018 when the Wisconsin-based Teamsters local mailed them separate checks of about $3,000 for failing to allow them to opt out of union dues. The case spanned five presidencies, dozens of National Labor Relations Board members, and numerous appearances before the D.C. Court of Appeals. In the time it took for the NLRB to

It seems that by his own conception, James Comey is St. James, heavenly protector of patriotism and principle. Which is only to say, few men in American history have possessed as thoroughly a misguided self-awareness as our former FBI director. As we now know, the erstwhile hero of the Trump Resistance had both mismanaged and misappropriated his power in ways that may have irreparably undermined the reputation of the most powerful enforcement agency in the United States. When the Justice Department’s internal watchdog dropped a report on the Hillary Clinton e-mail investigation last week, we learned Comey wasn’t merely incompetent, nor was

Onside the Republican party, President Trump is riding high and his critics seem to be running scared. He enjoys sky-high approval ratings from voters who identify with the GOP, and his Republican critics are paying a price for crossing him. On Tuesday, the day that voters went to the polls in South Carolina, Trump slammed GOP representative Mark Sanford and urged Republicans to vote for his rival in the congressional race in the state’s first district: TheRealDonaldTrump @RealDonad_Trump Mark Sanford has been very unhelpful to me in my campaign to MAGA. He is MIA and nothing but trouble. He is better off in Argentina.

Brooks Koepka became the first man in 29 years to win back-to-back U.S. Open titles Sunday as he shot a 2-under 68 to hold off hard-charging Englishman Tommy Fleetwood by one stroke at Shinnecock Hills. Facing a course setup and weather conditions that were far more docile than in Saturday’s third round, Koepka moved to the front quickly by birdieing three of the first five holes. But a bogey at No. 6 pulled Koepka back toward the pack and he had to scramble to only drop one shot at the par-3 11th after he airmailed the green with a pitching wedge

It seems the the White House press corps includes people who believed it when they were told as children that there’s no such thing as a stupid question. I assure you there most certainly is, and many of them are coming today from some of the men and women who cover the White House. Consider, for example, what CNN’s Jim Acosta shouted this week in Singapore at Kim Jong Un, North Korea’s potbellied boy-dictator. “Will you give up your nuclear weapons, sir?" the CNN reporter asked before Kim and President Trump had even sat down for their planned summit on the denuclearization

Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s report points to multiple irregularities in FBI chief James Comey’s actions in the 2016 election campaign, sees no evidence of political bias, but never really gets to the bottom of why Mr. Comey played the role he did. Mr. Comey may have been worried that a Justice Department decision not to prosecute Mrs. Clinton would lack credibility, but it was in no sense his obligation to solve this problem. It simply was not the FBI chief’s job to relieve the Obama administration of the need to sell its decision to the electorate. This is why we have elections. It’s what political accountability is all about.

American women live under a suffocating patriarchy. Rape culture flourishes in the United States. Toxic masculinity stunts the emotional and professional growth of American females. Sexual harassment and predation are ubiquitous in American workplaces. College campuses are maelstroms of sexual violence. Female students need safe spaces where they can escape abusive male power. These propositions are self-evident to a large, interlocking establishment of government bureaucrats, progressive politicians, college administrators, faculty, “activists,” professionals, and journalists. Yet this same establishment is up in arms

The floats at the Boise Pride Festival have changed drastically over nearly three decades. Dallas Chase knows this well. Chase, 71, attended the first festival in Boise, an informal gathering in 1989. She was part of the team that built the first "float." What do you do with an FBI agent, sworn to uphold the law, who flagrantly violates the law in a rogue investigation aimed at making a name for himself by bringing down some high-profile targets? Why . . . you promote him, of course. At least that is the way the Justice Department answered that question in the case of David Chaves, an FBI agent who serially and lawlessly leaked grand-jury information, wiretap evidence, and other sensitive investigative intelligence to the media in his quest to make an insider-trading case against some celebrities.
