Hoda Kotb was named the official co-anchor of the Today show - nearly five weeks after Matt Lauer´s firing over a sexual harassment allegation. The announcement was made at the top of the show Tuesday morning, with her co-anchor Guthrie saying: ´This has to be the most popular decision NBC has ever made and I´m so thrilled.´ Kotb, smiling and then wiping away tears, responded: ´I´m pinching myself. I think we should send some medics to Alexandria, Virginia where my mom has likely fainted after hearing the opening of that show.´ They then replayed the opening of the show, in which Kotb's named was announced

*her 10am cohost Kathie Lee crying tears of joy

Ha, ha, ha! Matt Lauer replaced by a woman. BUT, is she making his same salary? Inquiring minds want to know. Will she be wearing a black dress in solidarity with her "sisters" against "sexual harassment" in the workplace?

What in God´s name is a Hoda Kotb? An ISIS stronghold in the mid east? A disease? A Star Wars character?

Nonetheless, they got rid of a white male.

Matt Lauer´s schedule remains unchanged. Lots of time to enjoy his accumulated wealth, spend with family, and harass women.

Hoda seems like a nice enough gal. Doesn´t seem to wear her ideology on her sleeve.

I, too, am curious about the name. Where is she from... and how do you pronounce it? (Savannah´s probably from Savannah, huh? But where is Hoda?)

Not that I´ve spent much time watching "Today" since Hugh Downs was on the show, but when the Lauer firing happened, I remember seeing snipets of the show where the ladies were in humorous, slightly suggestive banter about Mr. Lauer´s proclivities.

The day after he´s canned, they´re all up in high drudgeon about the terrible environment that they had to work in with that dirty rotten scoundrel.

As they say, if liberals didn´t have double standards, they´d have no standards at all.

Hoda Kotb’s family are Copts, originally from Egypt. She was born here.

The Copts are one of the world’s oldest Christian communities and also one of the most persecuted by Muslim majorities in the Middle East.

I am interested to hear her point of view. Hard to imagine someone whose family spent generations being harmed by Islamists being TOO warm and fuzzy with Democrats.

There used to be a funny show on E! network called "The Soup". It ran once a week and showed funny/weird clips from the week´s TV shows of all kinds. One of their favorite shows to show excerpts from was Kathie Lee and Hoda in the 9-10AM block. They would invariably be slamming wine and acting giggly and truly silly. Harmless, yes, but utterly baffling why anyone would watch.

I do seem to a clip of her saying that she was having trouble finding a man to ´date´. Way too much info, lady...

The Supreme Court pressed Congress on Tuesday to update the country’s data privacy laws for the Internet age, as justices grappled with tricky questions about the reach of federal powers over data that’s controlled by an American company but kept on servers located overseas. The case before the justices involves the government’s demand to see emails of a Microsoft customer. Microsoft says contents of the emails are stored in Ireland, and releasing the information would conflict with that country’s laws. Special Counsel Robert Mueller moved Tuesday to dismiss nearly two-dozen charges against former Trump campaign associate Rick Gates, in the wake of his guilty plea last week. Mueller’s team filed a motion to drop 22 tax and bank fraud charges against Gates. The filing was tied to Gates’ agreement last week to plead guilty to conspiracy to defraud the United States and lying to the FBI. Under the terms of the deal, the government had agreed it would move to dismiss another set of charges brought against him more recently in a Virginia federal court. Those charges covered everything from alleged tax fraud to bank fraud.
