DOJ Blows Past Deadline to Turn Over

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes is blasting the Department of Justice and FBI after officials ignored congressional subpoenas and blew threw a deadline to turn over documents related to the infamous Fusion GPS dossier. In a letter to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, Nunes points out that not only did DOJ mislead his Committee about the existense of documents, they also unlawfully failed to comply with congressional requests. "Several weeks ago, DOJ informed the Committee that the basic investigatory documents demanded by the subpoenas, FBI Form FD-302 interview summaries, did not exist. However, shortly before my meeting with you in early

Is Alleged Attorney General Sessions aware that he´s the head of the DOJ and needs to clean out his septic tank of an organization or has he just completely recused himself of everything except his paycheck?

I´m at the point I want Trump to have them arrested, investigated, and shoot the wrong doers for treason.

There´s gotta be someone in DOJ, FBI, or CIA that aren´t partisan hacks.

If not, martial law, clean em out and start over. Enough, already.

Congress has virtually no power to prosecute. They are an investigative body If-----? someone agrees to be investigated.

It´s time to indict and seat a plethora of grand juries. We have new judges and there are plenty of attorneys that would jump at the chance to prosecute!

I realize that 2017 was a long time ago, but I can still recall a fellow named Sessions taking an oath to enforce the laws of the federal government. Perhaps that was for his job as AG or possibly as head of ICE or the National Park Service. It was so long ago that I can´t remember who is Attorney General in the Trump Administration.

If readers can recall who, if anyone, replaced the stunningly partisan and corrupt Loretta Lynch as AG, please drop a note.

Has DC declared itself to be a Sanctuary City where crooked politicians go to commit high crimes and acts of treason? Certainly appears that way to the average American living under the thumb of a government so corrupted it cannot police itself. The natives out in the hinderlands are getting restless when they see no one held accountable for the criminality that is running rampant among the pampered political class. Please explain to us why we should continue to pay taxes to enable the corrupt to live the high life and enjoy fine pensions and health care. Our patience is being stretched to the breaking point.

It´s very dangerous to lay down a Red Line. If you´re going to do it, you better have a plan B for that Line being ignored or you look like a Fool! Nunes sent these subpoenas out in August. Jeesh! Here we are in January and NOW he wants them to set up dates for Interviews. How about giving them 24 hours! Submit those documents or you will be picked up and taken to JAIL until you produce them! Right now they´re making a Laughing Stock of Nunes! Nobody is afraid of him! He needs to do SOMETHING to prove he means business!!

Something has to start breaking loose soon on this, or I think Trump will weigh in even more with Sessions. I still for the life of me wonder why Sessions is not making Rosenstein give up the documents. Congress has the legal right to have them. Sessions doesnt have to be involved but he certainly has the obligation to force Rosenstein to follow the law!

Perhaps the rest of you were way ahead of me in reaching this conclusion but I think blackmail is at the root of much that otherwise doesn´t make sense. It seems that every glimmer of hope is extinguished from Chaffetz to Gowdy. Why does an entity such as Fusion GPS exist? How many such firms exist? And we also now know that if nothing of substance exists in an opponent´s background that´s a minor issue, something will be made up, paying for false accusations, false dossiers, you name it.

I have been wondering for ages-- and I would have thought basic journalism 101 would require newspeople to include this info in any story dealing with contempt of Congress--what the penalty is for such a designation. It appears that the maximum penalty is $1000 and 1 year in jail. Not much, but it´s a start-- when will Eric Holder be paying his fine and serving his sentence ?

#21- Quite likely many others share the suspicion of blackmail—blackmail using leverages such as threats of disclosing personal and/or family skeletons in the closet, and/or threats of future harm to anyone (including family members) daring to expose and/or adjudicate criminal charges. While holding office, there may be government protective services; however, upon departure, such protection may become an individual’s personal responsibility. President Trump is to be admired/respected for many reasons, not the least of which is his courage in exposing/standing up to criminal activity within the government. May God send His holy angels to surround/protect him and his family.

Since Congress is all kabuki theater, I think there are other reasons for not meeting these deadlines: 1) It wouldn´t amount to a hill of beans even if they DID, and 2) doing so would allow someone in Congress to alert the wrongdoers so they can CYA or fly the coop.

In other words, I think justice is coming from somewhere besides Congress, so why give Congress/the enemy the ammunition to fight back?

And I´m not on the bash-Sessions train for a number of reasons. Although Trump has expressed some disappointment with Sessions, what he has said is ambiguous. He´s never come out and said he wanted him gone. That leads me to look at Trump´s actions. His ACTIONS indicate that Sessions is doing exactly what Trump wants. Otherwise, Trump would have fired him (and all arguments saying he couldn´t are ridiculous, in my opinion).

And lastly, this is an all out war and the stakes for Trump are WAAAY to high for Trump to be dilly-dallying around with an unreliable Attorney General. You DO NOT leave an enemy in such an important position when yours and your family´s lives are at stake!!

As far as Sessions malingering, I´m with #31. It is my hope that a fail safe case on each count is being made and Sessions is just laying low until he can spring the trap. That is my hope

Two op-eds in this weekend’s Wall Street Journal and one on this website brilliantly call attention to aspects of the vast political and cultural change, still in its early stages, that is gathering force in this country as inexorably as the spring thaw breaks up a frozen river, first as a trickle and then a torrent. Donald Trump figures in all three stories. He is at once a cause and an effect of the change—the Tea Party movement embodied and in power, and as much a rejection of the existing order of things as the mob that swarmed onto British

Donald Trump continues to baffle. Never Trump Republicans still struggle to square the circle of quietly agreeing so far with most of his policies, as they loudly insist that his record is already nullified by its supposedly odious author. Or surely it soon will be discredited by the next Trumpian outrage. Or his successes belong to congressional and Cabinet members, while his failures are all his own. Rarely do they seriously reflect on what otherwise over the last year might have been the trajectory of a Clinton administration. Back in the day, Google famously adopted the corporate motto, “Don’t be evil.” It hasn’t turned out so well. The problem is that their motto didn’t define what constitutes evil, so it left an opening for narrow-minded zealots to commandeer company resources in a witch hunt against whatever they define as the forces of wickedness. That’s what has happened at Google, which has adopted a corporate culture of quasi-totalitarian ideological uniformity that it is now starting to impose on everyone who uses its services. Yesterday, writing about former president Obama’s hack remark to David Letterman about the absence of “a common baseline of facts” shared by Americans, I asked whether Obama really is as shallow a thinker as he appears to be. It was not a rhetorical question. To be sure, Obama has failed to display appreciable depth since he wrote his fictionalized autobiography, Dreams From Father. His signature pronouncements and phrases are banal and borrowed. “The audacity of hope,” borrowed from his spiritual mentor the Reverend Wright. “Just words,” lifted from Deval Patrick. “You didn’t build that,” the obnoxious contribution of Elizabeth Warren. “Right

President Trump likes to do "yuge" things: tall hotels, massive walls, big deals. Congress, meanwhile, tends to make bills more complex as parochial interests and powerful lobbies tack their favored provisions on to bills as they move through the Capitol. For any immigration bill, these habits would be fatal. Congress and Trump should pass a small immigration deal, resisting any push for “comprehensive" immigration reform. In fact, the House bill probably already has too much clutter. The White House’s press release generally supporting the bill sponsored by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., noted only four provisions: “The president looks forward

Senator Durbin, doing his best Claude Rains imitation, stated, "I cannot believe that, in the history of the White House, in that Oval Office, any president has ever spoken the words that I personally heard our president speak yesterday." Durbin was responding to Trump´s alleged comment that Haiti, El Salvador, and certain African countries are "s---holes." Many of the reports omit mention of El Salvador because it does not fit the anti-black allegations. Senator Durbin is not a young man, and he

Mitt Romney took a swipe at Donald Trump on Monday, condemning the crude comments the president was said to have made about Haiti and African countries -- calling them “inconsistent (with) America’s history and antithetical to American values” with a reference to Martin Luther King, Jr. The poverty of an aspiring immigrant’s nation of origin is as irrelevant as their race,” Romney tweeted. “The sentiment attributed to POTUS is inconsistent w/America’s history and antithetical to American values. May our memory of Dr. King buoy our hope for unity, greatness, & ‘charity for all.’”

Actress and yogurt salesman Jamie Lee Curtis knows exactly whom to blame for a false alarm that told Hawaiians an incoming ballistic missile was detected. It was all President Trump´s fault. Duh. Now, never mind that Trump was in Florida at the time. On the golf course. And forget that Hawaii´s Emergency Management Agency (EMA), run by the Hawaiian state government, apologized for setting off the false alarm when someone pushed the wrong button. In a Saturday afternoon post on Twitter, Curtis attacked Trump, writing "YOU DID THIS!" "This Hawaii missile scare is on YOU Mr. Trump. The real FEAR that

TRENTON, N.J. — Days before his inauguration as New Jersey’s 56th governor, Phil Murphy had Hollywood on his mind. The 60-year old Democrat had just read a headline about reshoots on “All the Money in the World,” which had been done in a hurry to remove disgraced actor Kevin Spacey from the movie. (Snip) Murphy is ready to end his obscurity. On Tuesday, when he is sworn in, New Jersey will become one of just eight states where Democrats run every branch of government. If Murphy has his way, New Jersey will become a proving ground for every liberal policy

Lots of the news from sub-Saharan Africa is about war, famine, poverty or political upheaval. So it’s understandable if many Americans think most Africans who immigrate to the United States are poorly educated and desperate. Research tells another story. While many are refugees, large numbers are beneficiaries of the diversity-visa program aimed at boosting immigration from underrepresented nations. And on average, African immigrants are better educated than people born in the U.S. or the immigrant population as a whole.

Former President Bill Clinton said on Twitter Saturday that no Clinton Foundation funds were used to pay for his daughter´s wedding. After President Trump reportedly made crude remarks about Haiti and other less-developed countries, some on the right pointed to alleged mishandling of Haitian earthquake relief funds by the Clinton Foundation. On Twitter, President Clinton slammed the notion that any funds from the foundation, whether earmarked for Haiti or not, were used in association with his daughter Chelsea´s wedding to investment banker Marc Mezvinsky. Why would my 22-year-old brother be calling so early on a Saturday morning? I’d ignored the first call. But the second time the phone rang, I picked it up. He was panicking, his voice trembling uncharacteristically: He’d just received the emergency alert warning of a ballistic missile that was heading for Hawaii, where I’m from, and where he and my family still live. “THIS IS NOT A DRILL,” the alert read. My brother was alone, and had no idea what to do or where to go. And he wouldn’t have had much time to figure out a game plan—some estimates
