BALTIMORE — Baltimore has set a new per-capita homicide record as gunmen killed for drugs, cash, payback – or no apparent reason at all. A surge of homicides in the starkly divided city resulted in 343 killings in 2017, bringing the annual homicide rate to its highest ever – roughly 56 killings per 100,000 people. Baltimore, which has shrunk over decades, currently has about 615,000 inhabitants. “Not only is it disheartening, it’s painful,” Mayor Catherine Pugh told The Associated Press during the final days of 2017, her first year in office. The main reasons are the subject of endless interpretation. Some attribute the
These people crack me up. They attack, ambush and kill cops then complain there´s not enough around. You can´t have a cop every 5 ft. as large as Balto. is.How would more cops stop drive by shootings at 2 am.?Then to cops have to worry abut lawsuits if they´re too rough on a prisoner. The real problem is their uncivil subculture.
lets see they charge 4 cops with fake charges in the fred gray case complain cops are to rough on young black men want it to stop i though thats what the people wanted no cops now you have black lives maters utopia stop complaining and just dont stand by the windows and maybe build a bullet prof tent to sleep in
These murderers start out as feral gangs of "youths" who terrorize the locals with impunity. The Democrat politicians do not have the guts to do what it takes to punish bad behavior by these feral teens but complain when they turn into murderous thugs.
Race baiters run that city- they accommodate the black thug society- they "shirted" their police force- (might as well hang a shirt with a badge on it as have a real cop on patrol), and then whine because they don´t have cops enforcing the law. Man! Only in Libtard land would this be a thing.
That is world class, in a horrific way. The whole country runs about 4.5 per 100,000, even with these black inner city hellholes like Chicago and Baltimore averaged in. I imagine if you excluded these black gang infested urban free fire zones, the white Normals would have a murder rate of around 1 or 2 per 100,000.
Stay safe, be armed and stay out of Chicago and Baltimore.
We really need concealed carry reciprocity to get CCW legalized in those last few remaining states where we cannot go armed. California, NJ, NY, Conn, Mass, RI, MD, Illinois and a few more make it essentially impossible for out of state (and for some, even in-state) to be legally armed. This needs to end. Only the honest citizens are disarmed by gun laws, all the criminals are still armed - witness the results.
Personally, I will not set foot in any of these states and cities as long as they don´t allow honest citizens to be armed but don´t seem too concerned that the drug dealers and gangstas have all the firepower they want.
This Baltimore fiasco is a direct result of that naive mayor and the attorney who spoke out against the police and supported the feral blacks during the riots. As a Baltimore police officer, I too would just sit in the patrol car and let the animals kill each other.
During the Obama administration, Immigration and Customs Enforcement was not following proper procedures when checking if illegal aliens were known terrorists, jeopardizing national security, according to an audit. The office of inspector general found that between 2013 and 2015, ICE was not screening illegal immigrants who had been released for terrorist ties. Every single case of a suspected terrorist reviewed by the inspector general included errors, where ICE officials were not in compliance with security standards. "ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) faces challenges in implementing the Known or Suspected Terrorist Encounter Protocol (KSTEP) screening process, which is used to
Two op-eds in this weekend’s Wall Street Journal and one on this website brilliantly call attention to aspects of the vast political and cultural change, still in its early stages, that is gathering force in this country as inexorably as the spring thaw breaks up a frozen river, first as a trickle and then a torrent. Donald Trump figures in all three stories. He is at once a cause and an effect of the change—the Tea Party movement embodied and in power, and as much a rejection of the existing order of things as the mob that swarmed onto British
Donald Trump continues to baffle. Never Trump Republicans still struggle to square the circle of quietly agreeing so far with most of his policies, as they loudly insist that his record is already nullified by its supposedly odious author. Or surely it soon will be discredited by the next Trumpian outrage. Or his successes belong to congressional and Cabinet members, while his failures are all his own. Rarely do they seriously reflect on what otherwise over the last year might have been the trajectory of a Clinton administration. Contrary to popular supposition, the Left loathes Trump not just for what
NBC plans to televise any players who refuse to stand for “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the Super Bowl, but there may be nothing to show. It appears that NFL players are no longer taking a knee during the national anthem, namely because none of the teams with still-active protesters has qualified for the postseason. By the end of the regular season, only five teams featured at least one player regularly sitting or kneeling on the sidelines for the anthem: the Seattle Seahawks, the San Francisco 49ers, the Miami Dolphins, the New York Giants and the Oakland Raiders. None of those franchises made the
Back in the day, Google famously adopted the corporate motto, “Don’t be evil.” It hasn’t turned out so well. The problem is that their motto didn’t define what constitutes evil, so it left an opening for narrow-minded zealots to commandeer company resources in a witch hunt against whatever they define as the forces of wickedness. That’s what has happened at Google, which has adopted a corporate culture of quasi-totalitarian ideological uniformity that it is now starting to impose on everyone who uses its services. Which is, let’s face it, pretty much everyone. For now. Google’s internal culture has been laid bare by
Illinois, New Jersey, and New York were the top states in the nation for outbound moves in 2017, according to data from United Van Lines. United Van Lines, which tracks state-to-state migration patterns, found that Illinois was the top state for outbound migration with 63 percent of moves going out of state. "The Northeast continues to experience a moving deficit with New Jersey (63 percent outbound), New York (61 percent) and Connecticut (57 percent) making the list of top outbound states for the third consecutive year," the report states. "Massachusetts (56 percent) also joined the top outbound list this year." The other states
Yesterday, writing about former president Obama’s hack remark to David Letterman about the absence of “a common baseline of facts” shared by Americans, I asked whether Obama really is as shallow a thinker as he appears to be. It was not a rhetorical question. To be sure, Obama has failed to display appreciable depth since he wrote his fictionalized autobiography, Dreams From Father. His signature pronouncements and phrases are banal and borrowed. “The audacity of hope,” borrowed from his spiritual mentor the Reverend Wright. “Just words,” lifted from Deval Patrick. “You didn’t build that,” the obnoxious contribution of Elizabeth Warren. “Right
As usual the media and liberal critics of Trump have it all wrong. Before I get to DACA and the wall, I will tackle Trump’s “offensive words” about Haiti and African nations. There are reports that Trump called those countries by a crude name. If he did, he certainly could have chosen his words more carefully. But…who cares? If he said it, he told the raw truth. As usual, he was right on the money. Trump said exactly (although perhaps crudely) what 63 million American taxpayers who voted for him were thinking. Trump summed up the weakness of America -- we’re far
President Trump likes to do "yuge" things: tall hotels, massive walls, big deals. Congress, meanwhile, tends to make bills more complex as parochial interests and powerful lobbies tack their favored provisions on to bills as they move through the Capitol. For any immigration bill, these habits would be fatal. Congress and Trump should pass a small immigration deal, resisting any push for “comprehensive" immigration reform. In fact, the House bill probably already has too much clutter. The White House’s press release generally supporting the bill sponsored by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., noted only four provisions: “The president looks forward
The stakes have been raised in the negotiations over a spending bill that will keep the government operating after January 19. Speaker Paul Ryan says that the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) legislation will not be on the table in budget talks after Donald Trump refused to accept a deal that would have included it. CNN: We have to keep those separate because that´s just not good government, just lopping all this stuff together," he said. "I think people are attaching them in their minds as far as leverage is concerned, but they won´t be technically attached as far as legislation is
A man aboard a Greyhound bus who allegedly threatened to shoot and kill fellow passengers on Friday, leading police on a chase that began in Wisconsin and ended in Illinois, is an illegal immigrant, and is now facing terror charges. Police responded to a call around 9:40 p.m. Friday from a bus passenger who claimed there was a person threatening to kill people, Fox 6 reported, citing the Racine County Sheriff’s Department. Margarito Vargas-Rosas, 33, of Chicago, was reportedly pacing the aisle toward the back of the bus, and appeared to draw what passengers thought was a weapon from his waistband. Deputies
A federal judge has ruled the FBI must turn over memos written by former FBI Director James Comey about a meeting with President Trump. The decision comes as a result of a lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch, which has been seeking the documents for months. The FBI has been ordered to turn over the documents by January 18, which is next week. "The court, in seeking to review the documents, shows it doesn’t trust the FBI or Justice Department’s representations about the infamous Comey memos. We hope now that Americans are one step closer to knowing the facts about these memos, which
Michelle Obama and her eldest daughter Malia made a rare appearance in swimsuits as they are enjoying the sun in Miami. The mother and 19-year-old daughter were spotted walking off Miami Beach on Saturday surrounded by friends - including former Obama administration senior advisor Valerie Jarrett - and Secret Service personnel.Michelle, 53, looked sensational in a white bikini top matched with high-waisted white denim cut-off shorts as she trudged her way barefoot through the sand, holding her shoes in one hand.
This Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the NAACP wants man-made global warming to be seen as a civil rights issue, arguing King’s vision of a society free of racial injustice can’t be achieved without addressing warming. “We see climate change as a civil rights issue,” Jacqueline Patterson, head of the NAACP’s environmental and climate justice program, said in an online radio spot for the Yale Center for Environmental Connection. Environmental activists have been increasingly framing global warming as a matter of “environmental justice,” since “minority and low-income populations are disproportionately affected by global warming,” Patterson told Yale’s online radio Climate
The most recent attack on the president is designed to throw him off balance during the debate on immigration. Senator Durbin, doing his best Claude Rains imitation, stated, "I cannot believe that, in the history of the White House, in that Oval Office, any president has ever spoken the words that I personally heard our president speak yesterday." Durbin was responding to Trump´s alleged comment that Haiti, El Salvador, and certain African countries are "s---holes." Many of the reports omit mention of El Salvador because it does not fit the anti-black allegations. Senator Durbin is not a young man, and he
Mitt Romney took a swipe at Donald Trump on Monday, condemning the crude comments the president was said to have made about Haiti and African countries -- calling them “inconsistent (with) America’s history and antithetical to American values” with a reference to Martin Luther King, Jr. The poverty of an aspiring immigrant’s nation of origin is as irrelevant as their race,” Romney tweeted. “The sentiment attributed to POTUS is inconsistent w/America’s history and antithetical to American values. May our memory of Dr. King buoy our hope for unity, greatness, & ‘charity for all.’”
Actress and yogurt salesman Jamie Lee Curtis knows exactly whom to blame for a false alarm that told Hawaiians an incoming ballistic missile was detected. It was all President Trump´s fault. Duh. Now, never mind that Trump was in Florida at the time. On the golf course. And forget that Hawaii´s Emergency Management Agency (EMA), run by the Hawaiian state government, apologized for setting off the false alarm when someone pushed the wrong button. In a Saturday afternoon post on Twitter, Curtis attacked Trump, writing "YOU DID THIS!" "This Hawaii missile scare is on YOU Mr. Trump. The real FEAR that
This is the shocking moment a massive brawl broke out in a California pizza restaurant over a missing iPhone that turned out to have been in the lost and found the whole time. Police were called to John´s Incredible Pizza Company in Newark´s NewPark Mall on Saturday night after violence erupted. It broke out after a girl missing her phone had approached a group to see if they´d seen it but quickly descended into chaos, with video showing two large groups of people exchanging blows and screaming at each other. Newark police officers had to call in officers from the Fremont Police Department
TRENTON, N.J. — Days before his inauguration as New Jersey’s 56th governor, Phil Murphy had Hollywood on his mind. The 60-year old Democrat had just read a headline about reshoots on “All the Money in the World,” which had been done in a hurry to remove disgraced actor Kevin Spacey from the movie. (Snip) Murphy is ready to end his obscurity. On Tuesday, when he is sworn in, New Jersey will become one of just eight states where Democrats run every branch of government. If Murphy has his way, New Jersey will become a proving ground for every liberal policy
Lots of the news from sub-Saharan Africa is about war, famine, poverty or political upheaval. So it’s understandable if many Americans think most Africans who immigrate to the United States are poorly educated and desperate. Research tells another story. While many are refugees, large numbers are beneficiaries of the diversity-visa program aimed at boosting immigration from underrepresented nations. And on average, African immigrants are better educated than people born in the U.S. or the immigrant population as a whole.
Former President Bill Clinton said on Twitter Saturday that no Clinton Foundation funds were used to pay for his daughter´s wedding. After President Trump reportedly made crude remarks about Haiti and other less-developed countries, some on the right pointed to alleged mishandling of Haitian earthquake relief funds by the Clinton Foundation. On Twitter, President Clinton slammed the notion that any funds from the foundation, whether earmarked for Haiti or not, were used in association with his daughter Chelsea´s wedding to investment banker Marc Mezvinsky. No Clinton Foundation funds—dedicated to Haiti or otherwise—
Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) on Monday announced she plans to boycott President Trump´s State of the Union address to Congress at the end of the month, joining a handful of other Democratic lawmakers who are skipping the annual event. "I´m here on Martin Luther King Jr. Day to say I will not be going to the State of the Union," Jayapal said in a video posted on social media. "I think it is absolutely unacceptable to see the racism and the hatred coming out the White House in a way in which this president is fueling the flames of divisiveness across
Florida Rep. Frederica Wilson added her name to a growing list of Democratic lawmakers who say they are fed up with President Trump and will boycott his State of the Union address at the end of the month. (snip) “For the first time since I began serving in the U.S. House of Representatives, I will not be attending the president’s State of the Union address,” Wilson said in a statement late Sunday. “I have no doubts that instead of delivering a message of inclusivity and an agenda that benefits all Americans, President Trump’s address will be full of innuendo, empty
Why would my 22-year-old brother be calling so early on a Saturday morning? I’d ignored the first call. But the second time the phone rang, I picked it up. He was panicking, his voice trembling uncharacteristically: He’d just received the emergency alert warning of a ballistic missile that was heading for Hawaii, where I’m from, and where he and my family still live. “THIS IS NOT A DRILL,” the alert read. My brother was alone, and had no idea what to do or where to go. And he wouldn’t have had much time to figure out a game plan—some estimates
