On top of frigid temperatures across the Eastern Seaboard and Midwest, a blizzard is expected to bring snow and wind to the Atlantic Coast later this week. AccuWeather reports that a storm with ´hurricane-force winds´ and ´frigid air´ is developing across the Atlantic Ocean and will make landfall from Florida to Canada through Wednesday and Thursday. Maine and New Brunswick, Canada could face at least a foot of snow from the storm coupled with blowing and drifting due to the high winds. Yikes! Or words to that effect. It´s all falling fast now, isn´t it? I´d better get more Duraflame in, as well as extra jugs of water. (Cases of cat food here are always considered part of "standard emergency preparedness.")

It´s called "winter". It happens pretty nearly every January.

Al Gore said there would be no more ice at the North Pole by now....and you can bet that the NE is about 3000 miles south of that, and plenty of ice there.

Just remember the 3 B´s of Blizzards: Burgers, Buns & Booze. After that, make sure you´ve run the store out of toilet paper and eggs and make sure your ROKU is working properly and you should be all set.

Also, Netflix and Amazon Prime have some lovely fireplace videos with all of the requisite snaps, crackles and pops for those who don´t have the real thing.

It´s a beautiful winter, here in New Jersey!

The horses are warm in their stalls; plenty of grain, hay and bubblers to keep their water buckets from freezing.

Winter storm? Bring it!

BRITAIN is facing a gas supply crisis as Storm Emma blasts in, bringing two feet of snow today. National Grid, last night, warned huge demand during the big freeze could trigger a countrywide shortage. And the death toll rose to 10 after a seven-year-old girl was hit by a skidding car on an icy road in Cornwall. The Met Office yesterday issued a red weather warning for the South-west – the first top-level snow alert recorded for England. It warned of blizzards, loss of electricity and mobile phone signals, damage to trees and “severe snow drifting” ahead of Storm Emma’s arrival.
