Trump record on judges: Much to

Washington Times, by John G. Malcolm

Original Article

On May 17, 2016, then-candidate Donald Trump did something unprecedented. He released a list of 11 judges as candidates to replace U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, who had passed away earlier in the year. Mr. Trump announced that his “list of potential Supreme Court justices is representative of the kind of constitutional principles I value and, as President, I plan to use this list as a guide to nominate our next United States Supreme Court Justices.” That September, he added 10 names to that list — including that of Neil Gorsuch, the man who was subsequently nominated and confirmed to the Supreme Court after

Comments:
It´s important to remember that President Trump needs our support by having US put our current elected officials on Capital Hill feet to the fire to support his nominations. Then, in the Fall, when the midterms come along, replace the RINOS (GOPe) so that 2018 is another stellar year for President Trump (US).

Biggest full moon of 2018
rising on New Year´s Day

(Video) - On this first day of 2018, at 5 p.m. EST (2200 GMT), the January full moon will arrive at perigee, its closest point to Earth in an orbit. Today, our lunar companion reaches an extreme perigee distance of 221,559 miles (356,565 kilometers). When these events coincide (a full moon at perigee), some people refer to the event as a "supermoon." This will be the "biggest full moon of 2018," and the difference in the moon´s apparent size, compared with when it is positioned at its average distance from Earth, will be 7.3 percent. But that variation is not readily apparent to observers who are viewing the moon directly.

Seoul, South Korea - North Korea’s surprise call on Monday for direct talks with South Korea could drive a wedge into the decades-old alliance between Seoul and Washington, potentially creating a reprieve from months of tensions but also undercutting President Trump’s tough approach to the nuclear-armed North. A New Year’s Day speech by Kim Jong-un, the North Korean leader, contained a dramatic shift in tone and policy regarding the South. After ignoring South Korea for years, Mr. Kim called for urgent dialogue to discuss improving ties and easing military tensions on the divided Korean Peninsula, even as he

The Palestinian Authority has recalled its envoy to the US following Donald Trump‘s decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. The move will allow for “consultations” over leaders’ future relationship with the US. Days of protests followed Mr Trump’s announcement, leading to arrests and a number of deaths. The UN General Assembly voted overwhelmingly to call on the US to row back its decision. Husam Zomlot was recalled by Palestinian foreign minister Riad al-Maliki. Mr Al-Maliki said discussions would take place “to set the decisions needed by the Palestinian leadership in the coming period regarding our

California will launch the world´s largest regulated commercial market for recreational marijuana on Monday, as dozens of newly licensed stores catering to adults who enjoy the drug for its psychoactive effects open for business up and down the state. It becomes the sixth U.S. state, and by far the most populous, venturing beyond legalized medical marijuana to permit the sale of cannabis products of all types to customers at least 21 years old. Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Alaska and Nevada were the first to introduce recreational pot sales on a state-regulated, licensed and taxed basis. Massachusetts and Maine are on track

U.S. oil production

U.S. crude oil production is flirting with record highs heading into the new year, thanks to the technological nimbleness of shale oil drillers . The current abundance has erased memories of 1973 gas lines, which raised pump prices dramatically, traumatizing the United States and reordering its economy. In the decades since, presidents and politicians have made pronouncements calling for U.S. energy independence. President Jimmy Carter in a televised speech compared the energy crisis of 1977 to “the moral equivalent of war.” “It’s a total turnaround from where we were in the ’70s,” said Frank Verrastro, senior vice president at

In 1995, a nation was rapt as three frogs croaked the syllables in “Budweiser.” Four years later, Budweiser prompted countless television viewers to wag their tongues and ask their friends, “Whassup?” Since then, the list of commercial catchphrases to earn a cultural foothold has been short. But a nonsense phrase from an advertisement set in medieval times has broken through to become a common barroom cheer and online force to an extent that in some ways has exceeded its pre-social-web predecessors. The clock is ticking on the Republican majority in Congress: The GOP has just over 10 months to avoid a rout in 2018.Republicans could do it. They have time and several important factors on their side: a good economy, low crime rates, achievements of significance to the party´s followers.Nevertheless, as 2017 closes, almost all signs point toward big Democratic gains next year, largely driven by President Trump´s widespread unpopularity. And some of the pugnacious instincts that helped the president win election a year ago may now be worsening his party´s dilemma.Midterm elections "are a referendum on the party in power,"

Hatch, long the picture of conservative rectitude, was once a conscientious legislator, even partnering with Ted Kennedy when he thought poor kids were getting a raw deal. President Trump’s love for all things gold apparently doesn’t extend to the Golden State. Trump is about to become the first president since Dwight D. Eisenhower 64 years ago to skip a visit to California during his first calendar year in office. And he doesn’t appear to have any plans to take Air Force One to the country’s most populous and economically powerful state before he marks his first full year in office Jan. 20. Even past presidents who, like Trump, didn´t win the state´s electoral votes made it a destination, if only for California’s allure as the Golden State
