Trump says U.S. has gotten
´nothing´ from Pakistan aid

WASHINGTON - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that the United States has “foolishly” handed Pakistan more than $33 billion in aid over the last 15 years while getting nothing in return and pledged to put a stop to it. “They give safe haven to the terrorists we hunt in Afghanistan, with little help. No more!” Trump wrote on Twitter. “The United States has foolishly given Pakistan more than 33 billion dollars in aid over the last 15 years, and they have given us nothing but lies & deceit, thinking of our leaders as fools.” It was not immediately

Talk about shoving money down a rat hole...

Bribery and graft are a way of life for some of those who make "deals" with out military to give us help in our efforts against the bad guys...

It continues to hinder our efforts as often times much of the "intel" ends up selling out our own...

Our President is not afraid to call it out-- rather than to appear to be for the bad guys

There was a situation, back in the seventies, when the US sent an advisory/training team to Pakistan for a month. At the end of the allotted time, when the US troops planned to return to their bases, the Pakis said that they *must* leave a U.S. Army helicopter behind. After only a little hesitation, the wimps in D.C. agreed. The chopper stayed in Pakistan.
A seasoned, tough Master Sergeant told a young captain, that he´d rather be in combat than having to deal with Pakis on a daily basis.
Those people are not our friends and never have been.
Trump is right, as usual. MAGA!

Pakistan´s intelligence agency, ISI, has been supporting the jihadis for decades on one hand while taking US money on the other. I am absolutely convinced that the top leaders knew where Bin Laden was living in Pakistan, less than one mile from the Pakistani Military Academy. Intel gathered from the Bin Laden compound connected him to various Taliban/jihadi assets in Pakistan who were protected by ISI.

ISI is not our friend. The question is whether there is any useful level of cooperation that we can get for money, or whether they are just playing us for fools.

I have no doubt that the leadership in Pakistan is between a rock and a hard place with a need for US money and weapons, but with a huge fundamentalist population who love the Taliban and jihadis. It is probably impossible to get them fully on our side, no matter how much an individual leader may want to, due to his own "Deep State" problems. We should be getting a good bit more cooperation than we have been getting. Benazir Bhutto was a secular leader and was assassinated by Al Qaeda/Taliban killers. He brother was also assassinated. So, as much as we want Pakistan to be on our sides there are going to be practical limitations due to large numbers of Taliban/jihadi support inside the ISI and military. Only the top levels of military have been educated in US and Britain and are professional.

Pakistan has many small nukes. We must support the leaders who will only use them to counterbalance India and not give them to the jihadis. Push too hard, the hardliners take over and a nuke winds up in LA or NY, delivered by taxicab.

We need to get better cooperation, but Pakistan will never be a fully trustworth ally.

FTA: ´´It was not immediately clear what prompted Trump’s criticism of Pakistan but he has long complained that Islamabad is not doing enough to tackle Islamist militants.´´

Shepardson answered his own question a couple of times. In addition to the reference to President Trumps complaint, that he referenced in the quote, he had already quoted this: ´´...the United States has “foolishly” handed Pakistan more than $33 billion in aid over the last 15 years while getting nothing in return...´´

So, duh..., what is it that isn´t clear to you David?

Chances are a lot of the money that the USA has handed over to Pakistan has been used to pay the tuitions of the children of a whole bunch of Pakistani big shots at elite UK and USA colleges and universities, and you can be sure that those mostly leftist run schools are pleased as punch to receive the money. In a military run place like Pakistan, it is a safe bet that the top level military leaders know everything that is going on in their country, so it is doubtful that those Pakistani leaders had no clue that Osama bin Ladin was hiding out in a civilian compound a couple of miles from their military academy.

A close ally of Theresa May rebuked Donald Trump today after he ramped up the war of words with Europe over trade. BRITAIN is facing a gas supply crisis as Storm Emma blasts in, bringing two feet of snow today. The Met Office yesterday issued a red weather warning for the South-west – the first top-level snow alert recorded for England. It warned of blizzards, loss of electricity and mobile phone signals, damage to trees and “severe snow drifting” ahead of Storm Emma’s arrival.
