Will Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) run for president in 2020? She has been quick to clamp down on any speculation about a 2020 bid. But her actions suggest otherwise. Gillibrand has staked out a particularly anti-Trump voting record in the Senate, which could distinguish her brand when Democrats start culling the herd for their 2020 nominee. There’s a lot of progressive chatter about Gillibrand A Democrat hoping to run for president might have a strategy of tacking noticeably to the left — in an attempt to grab the attention and enthusiasm of the progressive activists most likely to work for
Comments: She has the charm of Hillary, the policies of Bernie, and career ambition of Mao Tse Tung.
Isn´t she the one who has no integrity? Maybe a Kamala Harris Kirsten Gillibrand ticket which collectively would satisfy most of the Dem requirements: Female, communist, "person of color", vulgarian, perfectly willing to sell out any group or "principle" for money and/or support. Given the Dems´ empty bench (due to the Clintons´ destructive dominance for so many years), the two women might be selected. We´ll know when we see who Obama (aka Soros) favors, and then who Hillary throws her (considerable in every sense) weight and huge amounts of (ill gotten) money behind (which will happen when the witch finally admits that her own political career is OVER). Also Pelosi should be watched for who she seems to favor. With the Dems it begins and ends with who can raise the most moola.
GOP needs to push hard against the whole idea of any progressive.
Heck, only 20% of the population identifies as liberal, but all liberals are progressive, and nearly all are white.
split the idea of Democrats and progressives being of the same actual party, they aren´t, and many African-Americans and Hispanics will realize it if they are given the distinct differences.
There are no more "blue Dog" democrat politicians. They liberal/progressive side of the democrat party has expunged them from any meaningful part of the party except to win a district here and there in hopes of gaining the Majority.
Re: Nikki Haley. Parents emigrated from India to British Columbia. Father got his PhD in 1969. Family moved to SC for a teaching position. Unless both parents naturalized as US citizens before Jan 20, 1972 (her DOB) she is not eligible...same as Cruz, Jindal, and Rubio, born of non-citizen parents.
Gillibrand is a vacant eyed, puffy faced bimbo who has never had nor will ever have a single original thought bouncing around the empty void in her enclosed by her thick skull.
To top it all off her moral bankruptcy is clearly visible to all who care to see after she proudly used Billy Goat Clinton during her successful reelection campaign including greedily accepting cash from the Clintons and then just recently did a complete about face and condemned her formal idol Billy Goat Clinton for his sexual abuse of women.
Amazing how the democrat communist party is a magnet for twisted and malevolent humanoids like Gillibrand.
#8, it would be great if she campaigned on PDT’s supposed history of sexual harassment - it would give us the opportunity to show all of the photos and video of her campaigning with Bubba Clinton and supporting his enabling wife.
Allow me to refute the logic of #19. Here is the hypothetical. A hospital in Kansas City finds a newborn baby on its doorstep. Umbilical cord still attached. It must have been born in the U.S., thus a natural born citizen. The baby is adopted by husband and wife physicians who work at the hospital, and who found the baby on the doorstep. The boy, or girl if you like, grows up to be an academic and athletic star, doing exceptionally well academically as well as athletically. The child goes to West Point, graduates at the top of his or her class, and is cisgender. After 4 years in the Army, the person goes to law school, builds a successful practice, runs for local office, wins, runs for the U.S. senate, wins, and then runs for president. Nothing is ever known about the birth parents, except on the person´s Ancestry results, it is known that 50% of the DNA is Irish, 30% Eastern European, 15% western european, and 5 % native american. Would any of you people find the person described as not constitutionally qualified to serve as U.S. president?
Then ´logically´ that would make ´anchor babies´ born of non-citizen parents ´natural born´. That´s like calling a dog born in France to 2 German Shepherds a French Poodle. You are what your parents are and in the above example they could be 2 Canadians who abandoned their child at birth.
We need to stop granting citizenship to the offspring of non-citizen parents let alone pretending that they qualify as ´natural born´...born of 2 citizen parents because they can´t be anything else.
Washington - With hours to go before a midnight deadline for Congress to fund the government or shut it down, most Americans say avoiding a shutdown is more important than passing a bill to maintain the program allowing people brought to the US illegally as children to stay, according to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS. (Snip) Still, 56% overall say approving a budget agreement to avoid a shutdown is more important than continuing the DACA program, while just 34% choose DACA over a shutdown. Democrats break narrowly in favor of DACA -- 49% say it´s more important vs.
Patrisse Khan-Cullors and Asha Bandele, authors of the new book When They Call You a Terrorist: A Black Lives Matter Memoir, are self-described “prison abolitionists.” And they hope their book will inspire readers to consider a society where jails aren’t necessary. “I would like us to use our collective imagination to begin to imagine a world without prisons,” Bandele told Colorlines editorial director Akiba Solomon earlier this week during a conversation hosted by The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture and The Strand Bookstore. “There are places on this planet where prisons don’t exist. There are cities in India
Stocks ended sharply higher Wednesday after the release of stronger-than-expected quarterly results from some of the biggest U.S. companies. The Dow jumped 322 points to a record-high 26,115, closing above 26,000 for the first time. The index first broke above the milestone mark Tuesday. The S&P 500 gained 0.95 percent, with staples and tech rising more than 1 percent. Tech stocks got a boost from Apple, which erased losses after announcing plans to repatriate billions in overseas cash. The stock closed 1.7 percent higher. The Nasdaq rose 1 percent. Bank of America reported adjusted quarterly earnings that surpassed analyst estimates.
Apple CEO Tim Cook opened up to ABC News after the company announced earlier today that it will be investing $350 billion in the U.S. economy over the next five years, creating more than 20,000 jobs. In a news release, the company also said it would make a $38 billion tax payment to the U.S. as required by recent changes to the tax law. Apple said this would be the largest tax payment of its kind. While Cook would not "take a position" on how the new tax plan is affecting individuals´ taxes, he said $38 billion tax payment would
"Morning Joe" co-host Joe Scarborough questioned President Trump´s weight on a White House physician report, stating if "that´s what 6-3, 239 pounds looks like, that´s a shock to me." The commentary comes one day after Rear Adm. Dr. Ronny Jackson concluded the president was in "excellent health" while also sharing that Trump tallied a perfect score on a cognitive test requested by the president. (Snip) The "Morning Joe" hosts have repeatedly called the president´s mental state into question on the program dating back to May, with Scarborough stating that Trump has "early-onset dementia." Senate Democratic Leader Charles Schumer’s (N.Y.) efforts to unify Democrats and prevent a shutdown are complicated by lawmakers with presidential hopes who are pushing for a hard-line stance against any short-term spending measure that doesn’t protect certain young immigrants from deportation. Senate Democrats such as Cory Booker of New Jersey, Kirsten Gillibrand of New York and Kamala Harris of California have signaled they will not support a short-term spending bill that leaves the fate of these immigrants, often called Dreamers, up in the air. All three potential presidential candidates, along with two others, Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Bernie Sanders
MOSCOW — Even thermometers can´t keep up with the plunging temperatures in Russia´s remote Yakutia region, which hit minus 67 degrees Celsius (minus 88.6 degrees Fahrenheit) in some areas Tuesday. In Yakutia — a region of 1 million people about 3,300 miles (5,300 kilometers) east of Moscow — students routinely go to school even in minus 40 degrees. But school was canceled Tuesday throughout the region and police ordered parents to keep their children inside. In the village of Oymyakon, one of the coldest inhabited places on earth, state-owned Russian television showed the mercury falling to the bottom of a
This therapy session between NBA officials and players at All-Star weekend can’t come soon enough. As USA TODAY Sports reported last week, the sustained tension between the league’s referees and so many of its players has become such a concern that they will have a meeting in Los Angeles next month. Saturday night brought more flare-ups, as the Toronto Raptors were incensed at late calls in their loss against the Golden State Warriors. Raptors star DeMar DeRozan said it felt like they were playing “five on eight,” a comment that will likely bring a fine from the league. The Dallas Mavericks’
ATLANTA — They had gathered to commemorate Martin Luther King Jr., but many of those who delivered speeches on the national holiday created to honor the slain civil rights leaders focused their remarks on another man: President Donald Trump. (Snip) Trump has denied saying "anything derogatory" about Haitians, and said he did not use the vulgar language that has been reported. And his weekly address to the nation, released Monday, was dedicated to King. "Dr. King´s dream is our dream, it is the American dream, it´s the promise stitched into the fabric of our nation, etched into the hearts of
A statue paid for with pennies contributed by Baltimore school children more than a century ago was found sprayed with red paint Monday morning. Jennifer Arndt Robinson, executive director of Friends of Patterson Park, said the bronze statue of children holding a scroll to commemorate the writing of the Star Spangled Banner had been damaged by paint. The words “Racist Anthem” were sprayed on a sidewalk near the statue. “We were notified early this morning of the incident,” Robinson said. “We are working with appropriate city officials to make sure it is addressed as quickly as possible.” Robinson said a
What could seem better than getting David Letterman and President Barack Obama together again and sitting them down in front of an audience to talk for an hour about whatever´s been on their minds since they both left their old jobs? What better fantasy come true for anyone who misses both men terribly? Unfortunately, Letterman´s new show for Netflix, a six-episode series called My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, fails to deliver on its promise, falling flat in its debut. Letterman, who retired so elegantly in 2015, seems only half-engaged here and far too much in the thrall of his
If you want to drive through the small residential streets of Leonia, N.J., you´ll have to move there. Starting Jan. 22, the town will ban all non-residents from driving on 60 of its streets during the morning and evening rush hours. The new rules aim to crack down on urban-dwellers who take shortcuts through the town while following instructions from navigation apps like Waze, Google Maps or Apple — a phenomenon Mayor Judah Zeigler says is causing gridlock, costing money and putting people in danger. "What´s happening with the adoption of Waze and Google Maps and other navigational apps is these
A review of a classified document outlining what is described as extensive Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act abuse was made available to all House members Thursday and the revelations could lead to the removal of senior officials in the FBI and Department of Justice, several sources with knowledge of the document stated. These sources say the report is “explosive,” stating they would not be surprised if it leads to the end of Robert Mueller’s Special Counsel investigation into President Trump and his associates. The House Intelligence Committee passed the motion along party lines Thursday to make the classified report alleging extensive
The White House says it will not negotiate with the Democrats on immigration until the end of the federal government shutdown. White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders says in a statement that, “We will not negotiate the status of unlawful immigrants while Democrats hold our lawful citizens hostage over their reckless demands.” She adds, “When Democrats start paying our armed forces and first responders we will reopen negotiations on immigration reform.” The government shut down at midnight after Congress failed to pass a spending deal. Sanders says, “Senate Democrats own the Schumer Shutdown,” adding,
After leaving office, President Ronald Reagan created the Ronald Reagan Freedom Award to recognize individuals who have fought to spread liberty worldwide. Nancy Reagan continued the tradition after her husband’s death, and in 2008 she bestowed the honor on human rights icon Natan Sharansky, who credited Reagan’s strong defense of freedom for his own survival in Soviet gulags. Reagan recognized that as leader of the free world, his words carried enormous weight, and he used it to inspire the unprecedented spread of democracy around the world. President Donald Trump does not seem to understand that his rhetoric and actions reverberate in
1988 Democratic presidential nominee Michael Dukakis ripped President Trump´s new tax law and offered optimism for Democrats ahead of the midterm elections. Dukakis, a former governor of the Bay State during the so-called economic "Massachusetts Miracle," said Republicans have lost their way when it comes to supporting fiscal responsibility. He questioned why they would champion a tax plan that may have costly ramifications for the national deficit. (Snip) "We just passed a tax bill, which I think is a piece of garbage," Dukakis, who lost his presidential bid to then-Vice President George Bush, said. "Look at these companies, though, that are
The House Intel panel’s passage of New York Republican Rep. Peter King’s motion to release the FISA abuse memo to fellow House members has rocked Washington, D.C. (Photo) Lawmakers from Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) to Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY) have called for the classified memo’s immediate release. According to Fox News contributor Sara Carter, the contents of the memo are so “explosive,” that it could end special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe once and for all.Former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino warned the release of the FISA report will destroy the image of his former boss Barack Obama.“Take it to
California lawmakers are targeting the expected windfall companies in the state would see under the federal tax overhaul with a bill that would require businesses to turn over half to the state. A proposed Assembly Constitutional Amendment by Assemblymen Kevin McCarty, D -Sacramento and Phil Ting, D-San Francisco, would create a tax surcharge on California companies making more than $1 million so that half of their federal tax cut would instead go to programs that benefit low-income and middle class families.
Former FBI director James B. Comey is joining the faculty of his alma mater, the College of William & Mary, and plans to teach a course on ethical leadership at the school’s Washington center starting in the fall. Comey, whom President Trump fired last year, will have a nontenured position as an executive professor in education, the school announced Friday. His course will be offered through the W&M Washington Center to students of the public college based in Williamsburg, Va. Comey will teach the course in fall 2018, spring 2019 and summer 2019 with executive assistant professor Drew Stelljes.
During his town hall tour across Canada, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has given explicit notice to pro-life Canadians that their beliefs on abortion make them second-class citizens. (Snip) According to the article, Trudeau warned that "an organization that has the explicit purpose of restricting women´s rights by removing rights to abortion, the right for women to control their own bodies, is not in line with where we are as a government and quite frankly where we are as a society." According to Trudeau, his tongue-lashing of pro-life groups was prompted by responses to a change to who can receive grants as
Far from content living his golden years on the $400,000 speech and lecture circuit of other former presidents, President Obama has been busy with clawing back for his old power. He´s actually covertly plotting to oust his democratically elected successor, President Trump, vowing to his associates to "rip him a new one," in the 2018 midterm elections. Seems he´s not all that interested in watching his youngest daughter grow up. That´s the word from DCWhispers, which reports that Obama´s Kalorama mansion, in the heart of the capital´s most tony district, is the center of significant comings and goings among the Obamatons,
More than 130 congressional members have viewed the classified four-page memo detailing what senior government officials describe as “disturbing and explosive” surveillance abuse by employees of the FBI and Department of Justice under the Obama administration against President Trump and members of his campaign. But almost all of them were Republicans. Since the document was released Thursday to House members “only Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee have seen it,” a congressional source with knowledge of the memo said. (Snip) Congressional officials expect the classified memo to be made available to the public before the end of the month. In order to
Sara Carter reports on a classified document that was released to all members of the House today. The document seems to be a compilation of information, prepared by House intelligence committee staff, relating to the anti-Trump dossier, the FBI, the warrant to conduct surveillance on members of the Trump campaign, and the use of that warrant. Carter calls the document a bombshell. Her sources say its revelations might lead to the removal of senior officials in the FBI and Department of Justice, and perhaps even the criminal prosecution of some. They also say, less plausibly, that the revelations could lead to
For the second time in less than a year, New York Jets wide receiver Robby Anderson was arrested in Florida, and this time, cops say, he threatened to sexually assault the arresting officer´s wife. Anderson, 24, who was arrested at around 2:15am for going 105 miles-per-hour in a 45 zone, was placed in the back of the police vehicle and ´stated that when he got out he was going to find (the officer´s) wife, f--k her and n-t in her eye,´ according to the the police report with the Broward County Sheriff´s Office.
