A newspaper editor confronts AP

American Thinker, by Thomas Lifson

Trump Derangement Syndrome is a real phenomenon, capable of clouding the judgment of seasoned journalists, and now we have a case study demonstrating the depths of the disorder at the nation’s largest provider of news. Frank Miele edits a small newspaper in Kalispell, Montana, The Daily Inter Lake, but has attracted a national audience with his common sense conservative editorials. His latest weekly column is a must-read for everyone who wants to understand how and why fake news flourishes in the mainstream media. He describes his “rare shift” as news editor the day before yesterday, in which he encountered an AP

If any failing MSM types were to suddenly decide they are a business and not a propaganda arm of the DNC, they would hire Frank Miele as Editor in Chief and watch their profits soar.

I sent the link to Mr. Miele’s article to our paper, The Joplin Globe, which tends to use the AP articles for non-local news. It remains to be seen whether it has any effect. I’m cautiously optimistic but I’m not going to hold my breath.

I had read that in addition to the huge sum moved to Dr. McCabe´s campaign by McAuliffe, Hillary did a 500,000 dollar fundraiser for Dr. McCabe.
Is that true?

While I applaud Frank Miele´s effort it doesn´t matter. The lie has been told and truth is relegated to the back page of yesterday´s news. The problem is journalism itself - it is no longer an honorable profession. Integrity is no longer taught in schools as of principal importance. But why I should imagine that journalism should be anything but a reflection of society at large is just foolish wishes of an old man.

Americans kid themselves that "news" has ever been anything but bullstuff. If it´s published, it´s someone´s impression of "the news", about 99 percent of it manufactured by PR flacks (including the many government propaganda ministers at every level, from local to Fed) and other special interests.

The trick today is to read for the literal truth and fill in with the actual truth from other sources. Toss in that television news is all about visuals, easy to "fake" out of context, and "print" news is poorly written and stretched via opinion to create a false context by "pundits" of all sorts.

To accurately decide matters, one must have access to facts, not speculation. The news media is well aware of this and have abused their ability to form public opinion and political policy for at least 200 years. It has gotten much worse since all the newspapers in the USA are controlled by a handful of corporations owned by indoctrinated Marxists. The advent of the Internet and social media has wrenched the control of information away from them and enabled President Trump to be elected. The great Democracy experiment will cease to exist with a puppet media.

The AP slants almost every story they run. I cancelled my local paper after they had two AP articles in one day that were not only biased but factually wrong. They have no integrity and no shame about what they are doing. Any means are justified if they produce the right outcome.

I´ve been reading Miele´s columns for a few years now. He´s on the same level as Vin Suprynowicz as far as I´m concerned. It seems pretty remarkable and outrageous that an editor from a small town newspaper was probably the only journalist who had the temerity to take the AP to task for slanted biased coverage of POTUS. Maybe there´s hope after all.

From time to time, the media tell the truth about issues that have a racial edge, usually by accident. Such was the case in February of this year, when a local TV news crew visited a largely black St. Louis neighborhood to follow up on a hit-and-run incident. A speeding car had struck two ten-year-old boys and kept on going. Local people were outraged. The FBI is many things to many people, but seen from the inside where I spent my career as an FBI agent, most of all it is a bureaucracy. The evident abuses of the vast investigatory powers of the Bureau to surveil the campaign of Donald Trump has left a paper and electronic trail as it jumped through the many procedural hoops required for Spygate to unfold. Based on a clue from the Strzok-Page texts and my understanding of the rules the FBI has to play by, it is possible to piece together a picture of how and why surveillance

By any reasonable account, the historic meeting between President Trump and Kim Jong-un, resulting in an agreement pledging to work toward a stable and enduring peace (over six decades after the Korean armistice was signed at Panmunjom) was an incredible achievement. In fact, had Obama or Clinton achieved as much, we would expect a ticker-tape parade down Fifth Avenue. North Korea has agreed to completely denuclearize and has begun the process, according to reports of satellite imagery, and has agreed to return the remains of U.S. military who perished in North Korea. Much to the relief of news directors everywhere, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) released this week its long-awaited report about the Biggest Lie that the baddest people believe: The myth of black on white crime. The left has created a macabre myth that runs counter to the whole experience of mankind. The left has persuaded the gullible masses of America, including, sadly, most conservatives, that "discrimination" by individuals and businesses is wrong and that it violates the Constitution. Precisely the opposite is true. All serious cognition and all honest moral judgments involve discrimination. We are in the midst of a spin battle over the Inspector General’s report issued yesterday. Because Inspectors General cannot release their reports without giving those named within it a chance to contest it, and must be able to defend every single word of it, they must stick to facts and completely documentable conclusions. Inductive reasoning, looking at large patterns of facts and drawing conclusions does not survive such a process. The result is a report that is written in a kind of code. Illegal Immigration: The latest outrage by the Trump administration is its policy of "ripping" children away from parents who´ve crossed the border illegally. As with so many other things involving Trump, there´s plenty of emotion but precious little in the way of facts. The furor reached critical mass after the Department of Homeland Security said on Friday that 1,995 children had been separated from their illegal border crossing parents from mid-April through May. That number included, DHS said, cases where the adults were arrested for illegal entry, immigration violations, or possible criminal conduct. The practice has generated a rising storm of protests,
