B-CR-TEO
2017: The year angry populists rose
to the top — and fell on their faces

Washington Examiner [DC], by Editorial

Original Article

Posted By:MissMolly, 1/1/2018 6:01:17 AM

Among the nearly 250 years of American politics, 2017 will stand out, along with 1829 (when Andrew Jackson was sworn in), as a moment when populists didn’t merely rattle the political establishment, but actually won a national election and gained real political power. And 2017 will also stand as a year in which the populists most proximate to political power fell flat on their faces. The problem isn’t populism per se. The problem is that much of the populism accompanying (and also powering) Donald Trump’s rise has been purely negative — vacuous populism whose beginning, middle, and end is inchoate anger

His definition of "vacuous populism" is rather odd. He uses people like Roy Moore and Yiannopoulos - popular speakers and idealists as examples? Boy, that dropping your line down a very narrow well expecting to catch a whale. Trump might be a nationalistic idealist- one who love his country above all others and has ideas that will make that country greater. But, considering the vast (95%) media hatred spewed forth on President Trump, I doubt you could call him a "Vacuous Populist". We voters, "re-defined by all the Liberal Greats as "Deplorables" seemed to agree with President trump. So, that makes him popular with us, as as it turned out, we were a vast majority (except in leftist enclaves like California´s two raging socialist cities packed with leftists and illegals). That hardly makes him or us "vacuous", though. I guess the writers main problem is, his dying brand of America Hate is powerless to stop America Love. So, "Ed" has to rail against it and offer absolutely nothing to make his brand of vacuous socialism more digestible to more voters.

Our Feral Government has been weaponized against us. The awsome powers of the IRS used to strangle the Tea Party in it´s cradle in an election year. The State Dept is run by a Raging, drunken Kleptocrat and America´s safety and freedom is being sold piecemeal. Wires are being tapped. The President is a Jihadi. The economy sucks and we have "EMPTY POPULISM" driven only by mindless hate ?

You, Sir, can kiss my highly privileged white posterior.

...and peddle this Leftist Lunacy to those who never lived through it or, more likely, to those who were a part of it and benefited from this era of State Sponsored Criminality.

Reality - It is VERY hard for populists to take any power from the government that is ensconced to protect it. It takes a person of unusual ability and focus. And, there are not many Donald Trumps running around.

“Populism is a political approach that seeks to disrupt the existing social order by solidifying and mobilizing the animosity of the "commoner" or "the people" against "privileged elites" and the “establishment"

#3 Blue, "Our Feral Government has been weaponized against us."

Several hundred agencies and thousands of sub-committees devised to protect US have become mechanisms to control US.

EPA, FEC, NEA, DOE, FBI, CIA, FDA, DEA, IRS, to name just a few.

"Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men.” Lord Acton

As I watched President Trump´s campaign unfold with thousands at his campaign stops, it became obvious that Patriotic Americans and constitutionalists were fed up. President Trump is giving freedom back to the people as is the intent of the US Constitution. It is going to be a long and arduous road, but I truly believe that Our President not only has the will but also the stamina to turn our government back to US. I´m waiting for him to push "term limits."

God Bless America and keep OUR President safe!

The only successful populist is the one who had a national media soapbox and held nothing back in continually attacking his political enemies and the enemies of the United States. PDT has survived by the very Twitter feed that every talking twit on TV predicted would lead to his downfall.

The Tea Party never got to a microphone before they were tarred and feathered as racist, mouth-breathing troglodytes. And when they did talk, it was far too milquetoast.

You cannot survive a political street fight abiding the Marcus of Queensbury Rules. You have to be out there and kick your enemy when they are down at every turn. And they are perpetually down, because they are universally wrong about everything. They are universally wrong about everything, because they follow a Marxist ideological playbook that they know will destroy our country, because it has never succeeded in practice anywhere in the world at any time.

Being ignored like that tends to put people off and make them angry. Rightfully so too.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif — From Malibu to Santa Cruz, wealthy people are blocking access to California’s publicly owned beaches. And no group has fought the public longer than the gated community of Hollister Ranch, about 130 miles north of Los Angeles. For more than 36 years, residents there have spent millions of dollars on lawyers and lobbyists to bar the hoi polloi from an 8.5-mile-long beach adorned with several coves. In May, after more than four years of litigation over public access to the beach, a settlement was announced between the ranch cooperative, on one side, and the California Coastal Commission

Are you tired of all the winning yet? If you are a conservative who has followed the trajectory of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), you might be getting to that point. From its inception, the CFPB has been a big government liberal’s dream: no Congressional oversight, limitless investigative authority, and a leadership succession plan that seemed more feudal than democratic. Indeed, when CFPB Director Richard Cordray resigned in November 2017, the Left claimed he, not President Donald Trump, had the authority to appoint his successor. According to them, Deputy Director Leandra English was Cordray’s rightful heiress. So when the President appointed Mick

BERLIN — Nazi comparisons have become such frequent occurrences almost anywhere in the world that they rarely draw attention these days. But in Adolf Hitler´s birth country, Austria, they usually still strike a nerve whenever they come up. They certainly did so this week, after Jewish organizations criticized the far-right Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ), the ruling coalition party in the state of Lower Austria, over pursuing a proposal that would require Jews to register with the government if they seek to purchase kosher meat. "What if we were wrong?" That is the question then-President Barack Obama asked as he rode along in his presidential limousine with his foreign policy guru Ben Rhodes. The question came in the aftermath of the surprise presidential election victory by political newcomer and television reality star Donald Trump. Obama wasn´t only wrong in understanding where the electorate was in 2016 but was frequently wrong throughout his presidency. Under NFL rules, that´s an offense punishable by a suspension of up to four games. The Dolphins later told the AP that "all options are still open." Before the word "resignation" became a euphemism for being fired, it connoted a sense of public integrity and personal honor. Attorney General Elliot Richardson and his deputy, William Ruckelshaus, showed both qualities when they resigned from the Nixon administration during the Saturday Night Massacre in 1973. Jimmy Carter’s secretary of state, Cyrus Vance, did likewise when he resigned during the Iran hostage crisis in 1980. Assuming Mike Pompeo and John Bolton still have their own senses intact, they, too, should resign following the epic disgrace of the U.S.-Russia summit inHelsinki on Monday.
