NBC Made Payment To
Staffer After Sexual Harassment
Claim Against Chris Matthews

Daily Caller, by Amber Athey

Original Article

An MSNBC spokesman confirmed Saturday the company made a separation-related payment to one of Chris Matthews employees after the woman complained about sexual harassment. Two sources familiar with the situation told The Daily Caller that Matthews paid $40,000 to settle with an assistant producer on his show, “Hardball with Chris Matthews,” in 1999 after she accused him of harassment. An MSNBC spokesperson contested that claim to the Caller, saying the company instead paid significantly less as part of a severance package. The woman complained to CNBC executives about Matthews making inappropriate comments and jokes about her while in the company

Men, if you are going to hire a female employee who might be working closely with you ,be sure to hire a dog. You want someone that no jurist would associate with sexual attraction.

So when the "Hardballer" referred to that "tingle" that ran down his leg, he was in reality referring to an entirely different part of his anatomy when it came to his assistant producer. We assume that she, in fact, refused to produce.

My how times have changed. I am appalled by the way women have been treated in the work place over the years, but when one goes into a man´s locker room, one will hear a few crude jokes. I can see the new ads for help. "Wanted. Ugly woman with no boobs." This has gone too far. Unless the accused is still doing it, there should be a time limit on when he can be fired or hung out to dry. Roy Moore was hung out to dry as if he IS a pedophile which he is not. Maybe these left wing nuts who tried him in the news every night until he lost deserve being put out with him.

#13 I think you are way off with your comment. This entire thing with women accusing men from 10, 20, 30 or 40 years ago without an ounce of evidence is getting out of control. So, we are going to destroy someone´s life over accusations. I suggest that the accuser take them to court. I could make up something about some man that I did not like and watch his life destroyed. Saw it happen a few times because someone was going to get an evaluation she/he did not like.

I suggest any man working close with a female should have someone else with them during meetings, late night work, etc.

Sexual harassment is a means for weak, insecure men use who feel threatened by strong, intelligent women. This is not always about sexual favors.

I am tired of women being blamed for what happens.

This woman received a severance payment. I don´t know if she quit or if the network
strongly hinted that she should.

The sensationalism of this topic has run its course and may have diminished a true incident of sexual misbehavior. The harassment card has become synonymous to calling someone a racist." There´s no impact anymore. The fake victims {many of them are} ruined it for the true women victims out there.

Over the years, I´ve enjoyed a full life in the workplace as a woman. There were times I´ve been flirted with, hit on and I handled it on my own without making an issue out of it. Personally, I feel doing this gives the woman more power because she rejects and diminishes the perp on her own without running to HR. If she doesn´t get a promotion because of this rejection, so be it. There are other jobs and employers out there.
Independent minded women learn this early in life and know how to deal with these situations.

As for Chris Matthews, I can´t help but feel schadenfreude.

The latest in a long line of creeps that don´t know how to behave themselves. Sad truth, this is part of human nature. Too many people involved to be otherwise. Have asked it before: How does one legislate human nature? Don´t think you can. They tried the same thing with racism. Don´t know the answer. If there is one, it involves God. Humanity cannot change this kind of behavior (racism or sexism) on its own.

The sexual harassment claim and the racial discrimination claim has been used for years by employees who believe they were treated unfairly when actually they were doing their jobs poorly and deserved to be fired or not promoted. In most cases all it ever was was blackmail. Since both are difficult charges to defend against it has been the habit to just pay them off under a non disclosure agreement. I have witnessed two such agreements and was part of a team to avoid such law suit threats in future by gathering data on the under performing employees. Keeping and recording such data is expensive and costs nearly as much as the payoff. But considering that the NDA is now regularly violated it has become cheaper to gather the data.
It´s now obvious that these NDA and pay offs don´t work. All disclosures that violate the NDA should be met with a counter suit and demands that the pay off money be returned. File the suit. Use a court ordered escrow account so they can´t hide their assets. Freezing their assets would be a good start.

Any new accusations in the future should be met with a vigorous fight. Might as well forget non disclosure since the black mailers won´t keep their word.

President Trump’s inflammatory remarks against immigrants from a host of developing-world nations have sparked outrage amid talks on the fate of Dreamers just as lawmakers from both parties were claiming progress on a hard-fought deal. But supporters of the immigration package say the deeper threat to an agreement is not the president, but the conservatives in both the White House and Congress fighting to kill the deal before it can pick up steam –– an effort they’re calling “the Stephen Miller ambush,” referencing a top White House aide. The leading negotiators on an immigration package — Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.)

President Trump dissolved his controversial voter integrity commission Wednesday, giving up on one of key initiatives from the 2016 election. The White House said Mr. Trump didn’t want to fight an endless stream of costly legal battles against voter-rights groups, so he issued an executive order canceling the panel altogether. “Despite substantial evidence of voter fraud, many states have refused to provide the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity with basic information relevant to its inquiry,” the White House said in a statement. “Rather than engage in endless legal battles at taxpayer expense, today I signed an

President Trump kicked off the new year praising the people of Iran for “acting against” the regime, while accusing former President Barack Obama of helping Tehran fund “terrorism.” The spending on terror and proxy wars is part of what demonstrators are protesting. “The people of Iran are finally acting against the brutal and corrupt Iranian regime. For all the squabbling that social media platforms are notorious for, their relevance to the media landscape plays an important role in times of protest. This was evident with Black Lives Matter, among other movements. It’s been evident for the past three days in Iran, where thousands have taken to streets and public squares calling for an end to the hardline conservative regime of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The question that needs to be asked right now is why traditional mainstream media outlets – grandstanding over their importance in this new, bold era of fact-checking and truth-telling – have largely ignored

President Trump sat down with New York Times reporter Michael Schmidt for an interview in West Palm Beach yesterday. Schmidt was low-key and even respectful, while Trump was ebullient. You can read excerpts here. (As always, there is no point in reading any newspaper’s account of the conversation.) Trump was his usual unscripted self–rambling, not very articulate, sometimes humorously self-promoting, generally correct if often imprecise. He talked at length, and with great confidence, about Mueller’s investigation. She was 94. Marie had been resting in bed at her Los Angeles-area home when a caretaker found she had stopped breathing, said family spokesman Harlan Boll. "Heaven just got a whole lot funnier" was the tribute posted atop a photo of Marie on her website. She was a child star of the 1920s and 1930s who endeared herself to

Nearly half of all Americans believe the media fabricate negative stories about President Trump, according to a new survey. Forty-four percent of respondents in the 2017 Poynter Media Trust Survey say the media invent “fake news” to make the president look bad. Of that cohort, 24 percent say negative stories about Mr. Trump are made up “about half of the time”; 14 percent “most of the time”; and 6 percent “all of the time.” Seventy-seven percent are Trump supporters, and 74 percent are Republicans. The survey found that a substantial minority of Americans, 31 percent, believe the media are the

Two months ago, Rep. Adam B. Schiff, who is leading the House Democrats’ inquisition of President Trump, said it “still remains to be seen” whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia in its interference in the 2016 election. Then on Dec. 10, the congressman from California went in a different direction. “We do know this,” the ranking Democrat on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence said on CNN, a frequent Schiff host. “The Russians offered help, the campaign accepted help. The Russians gave help and the president made full use of that help, and that is pretty damning, whether

The woman Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee accused of racism is a celebrated photojournalist who helped document human-rights abuses in war-torn Guatemala during the 1980s. Jean-Marie Simon, whose first-class seat on a United Airlines flight was given to Ms. Jackson Lee, Texas Democrat, lived and worked in Guatemala during the turbulent decade that saw the military seize control of the government in a coup. Hundreds of thousands of Guatemalans were killed or “disappeared” during the conflict. Now a teacher, Ms. Simon, 63, is the author of “Guatemala: Eternal Spring Eternal Tyranny.” A 2012 blog post on Amnesty International said Ms. Simon

1988 Democratic presidential nominee Michael Dukakis ripped President Trump´s new tax law and offered optimism for Democrats ahead of the midterm elections. Dukakis, a former governor of the Bay State during the so-called economic "Massachusetts Miracle," said Republicans have lost their way when it comes to supporting fiscal responsibility. He questioned why they would champion a tax plan that may have costly ramifications for the national deficit. (Snip) "We just passed a tax bill, which I think is a piece of garbage," Dukakis, who lost his presidential bid to then-Vice President George Bush, said. "Look at these companies, though, that are

The White House says it will not negotiate with the Democrats on immigration until the end of the federal government shutdown. White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders says in a statement that, “We will not negotiate the status of unlawful immigrants while Democrats hold our lawful citizens hostage over their reckless demands.” She adds, “When Democrats start paying our armed forces and first responders we will reopen negotiations on immigration reform.” The government shut down at midnight after Congress failed to pass a spending deal. Sanders says, “Senate Democrats own the Schumer Shutdown,” adding,

It´s no secret that Mitt Romney is, in all likelihood, going to run for a Senate seat in Utah. What´s less clear, however, is why the man who was the 2012 Republican presidential nominee and is now retired and occupying an elder-statesman role in a party torn into warring factions would want to serve as a junior senator. Once elected, Romney would find himself embroiled in day-to-day congressional fights and less free to voice his criticisms of the White House, while losing some of the deference he´s been shown by members of his own party. But listen to any number of Republicans and

Question: Do you think Donald Trump spends more time thinking about Hillary Clinton than Hillary Clinton spends thinking about Donald Trump? Sure does seem like it. The other day, President Trump was discussing Russia at a press conference with the prime minister of Norway, when he suddenly announced that Clinton “was not for a strong military and Hillary, my opponent, was for windmills, and she was for other types of energy that don’t have the same capacities at this moment certainly.” Yeah, it didn’t make any sense. But he really can’t seem to get past her. Recently while promoting tax

(Snip) According to information relayed to Senator Ron Johnson, the period of time the FBI has “lost” is from December 14th, 2016 to May 17th, 2017, the exact day that Special Counsel Robert Mueller was assigned to lead the Russia collusion probe. As CTH has previously outlined the same “small group” inside the DOJ and FBI,

Immigrants entering the United States illegally through the southern border are quietly being relocated to different parts of the country on commercial flights, high-ranking Homeland Security officials told Judicial Watch this week. In the last few days alone, groups of illegal aliens boarded planes at airports in Texas and Arizona accompanied by a taxpayer-funded government escort in civilian clothes to avoid drawing attention. The first flight originated at Valley International Airport in Harlingen, Texas and was bound for Minneapolis. According to Representative Dave Joyce (R-OH14) the House Intelligence Committee will hold a vote on the release of the four-page Nunes memo that reveals systemic corruption within the DOJ and FBI; including the unlawful use of FISA-702(16)(17) data searches which were part of an elaborate DOJ-FBI surveillance program on the political campaign of Donald Trump. There’s a ghost haunting Elizabeth Warren as she ramps up for a possible 2020 presidential bid and a reelection campaign in Massachusetts this year: her enduring and undocumented claims of Native American ancestry. Warren says now, as she has from the first days of her public life, that she based her assertions on family lore, on her reasonable trust in what she was told about her ancestry as a child. “I know who I am,” she said in a recent interview with the Globe. But that self-awareness may not be enough, as her political ambitions blossom.

The burn continues. What follows are 138 years of scientific records tracing the human transformation of Earth’s climate. The bold pink line up top represents 2017, the third-hottest on record. The only years to exceed it—2015 and 2016—occurred amid a powerful El Nino weather pattern that ripped heat from the Pacific Ocean into the atmosphere. In the absence of El Nino, the swelter of 2017 was unprecedented.

Comic book readers are apparently not fans of progressive politics—a fact no more evident in Marvel’s decision to cancel every single one of its comics that has been nominated by the LGBTQ advocacy group, GLAAD. In December, the publisher announced its decision to cancel many of its comics, citing poor sales. LGBTQ, feminist, and social justice-themed comics involving stories that revolved around Black Lives Matter, illegal immigration, and LGBTQ issues were among those to end up on the chopping block.

Adam Schiff, reputedly a champion leaker from the House Intelligence Committee when it came to Russiagate material, suddenly thinks Ignorance is Bliss when it comes to the FISA warrant used to spy on the Trump campaign. Appearing on CNN, he tried to justify keep the 4 page memo that reportedly exposes the individuals who acted as part of a cabal to undermine the Trump campaign with help from NSA spying, and then pushed the “Russia collusion” conspiracy theory as part of the “insurance policy.” Americans are too ignorant, you see.
