Trump on Losing Alabama Race: Win is a Win
Townhall, by Katie Pavlich

President Donald Trump strongly backed Republican Roy Moore to win the U.S. Senate seat in Alabama vacated earlier this year by Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Tonight in a special election, Moore lost that race to Doug Jones, who is the first Democrat to be elected to the Senate since 1992. Trump issued a congratulatory response to Jones´ victory on Twitter late Tuesday night. Donald J. Trump ? @realDonaldTrump Congratulations to Doug Jones on a hard fought victory. The write-in votes played a very big factor, but a win is a win. The people of Alabama are great, and the Republicans will have another shot at

Technically, Donald Trump is right on this one. We, on our side, don´t want to be sore losers. Unlike Hillary.

Doug Jones thought he had to fight hard for this one but I don´t buy it. It is my understanding that Obama was involved with his campaign.

This smells of the Obama-Mark Kirk race in Illinois. How did Obama win? Smeared the character of Mark Kirk with the divorce papers.

Republicans and conservatives are the ones who have to truly fight for the wins because I can guarantee that if Obama is involved, the Republican will go through their character being smeared. Obama and the Democrats will look under every leaf. They truly don´t like losing.

I´m betting on massive voter fraud being a major part of the issue. It´s their go-to in every election.

That´s why they can´t believe Hilary lost. They were sure they had it covered.

LoFo voters in Alabama bought into the idea that the president´s endorsement of Moore had to be repaid with more votes. Lots of graves in Alabama being re-filled this morning.

Trump opposed Moore in the primary, discreetly did NOT explain every one of his reasons, supported him in the general, and congratulated the winner. Very proper. His judgment of candidates is going to go for more in the future. Many others have lost in my estimation - Moore should not have been run; once he was, the GOP should have got behind him; and of course we congratulate winners even if they are Democrats.

I didn´t understand why PT wanted to get involved in the state race. I get that we want R senators but this race was a loser any which way. It was far too expensive in political capital to get into the mud fight. The people of AL are competent to decide on their senators.

One thing will not change. The new Senator from AL will not be seated until January. Under normal conditions, that made Luther Strange the Senator voting for Tax Reform. President Trump initially supported Strange, then eventually the Republican Candidate. Mr. Trump continues to play dynamic, 3d Chess while the rest of the government is busy gratifying their diverse and intense carnal "needs".

Question: Do you think Donald Trump spends more time thinking about Hillary Clinton than Hillary Clinton spends thinking about Donald Trump? Sure does seem like it. The other day, President Trump was discussing Russia at a press conference with the prime minister of Norway, when he suddenly announced that Clinton “was not for a strong military and Hillary, my opponent, was for windmills, and she was for other types of energy that don’t have the same capacities at this moment certainly.” Yeah, it didn’t make any sense. Woody Allen won an Academy Award, the fourth of his career, just six years ago for writing Midnight in Paris. He was nominated again two years later for Blue Jasmine, a film that won Cate Blanchett a Best Actress Oscar. The last year that Allen didn’t release a movie in theaters that he wrote and directed was 1981. Despite the controversy that has dogged him since the early 1990s—when he was revealed to be having an affair with his girlfriend’s daughter and was subsequently accused of molesting his adopted daughter Dylan Farrow—Allen has continued to make movies with the same

You wouldn´t know these were boom times with the stock market at all-time highs and unemployment near all-time lows if you were in the nation´s capital. Washington, D.C., is a city of hate. When you visit, it appears no one can stand each other. The two political sides are at each other´s throats so constantly it´s hard to imagine they sleep. Maybe they don´t. And then there are the sides within the sides, always ready for more gnashing of teeth, mutual hostility, and endless contempt. Talk about the cliché "can´t stand prosperity" — that´s what we have. The atmosphere is so bad around Megyn Kelly at “Today” that producers of the 7-to-9 a.m. slot, hosted by Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb, are openly sniping at her. Kelly, who takes over “Today” at 9 a.m., had “congratulated” Kotb, “Mean Girls”-style, when the latter landed Matt Lauer’s job. On Jan. 2, Kelly said to Kotb, live on air, “We talked recently about how, 10 years ago, your life was very different. You were going through a dark period.” But Kelly didn’t explain that she was referring to when Kotb was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent surgery. She merely added, “Do you take

Every day it is becoming clearer that CNN, the once proud ratings giant and unquestioned cable network news leader, has abandoned objective journalism to cultivate obsessive hatred for President Donald Trump. It has “jumped the shark,” meaning that a once distinguished broadcaster has become absurd. The original definition referred to the fifth season premiere episode of the hit TV show Happy Days, in which the main character, Fonzie, literally jumped over a shark while water skiing with his signature leather jacket. It is also a perfect reference to a broadcast network like CNN that has diminished greatly in quality and

The partial shutdown of the U.S. government that started Saturday is a testament to the inability of our two major political parties to do anything but kowtow to their respective bases, and their failure to sit down together to work out a deal. Isn´t it great? Far from being an embarrassment, these shutdowns show regular Americans, wielding only the power to vote in national elections every two years, are kings and queens of the realm. Look what politicians will do for a vote. Democrats will let the government shut down just to show their allegiance to the Dreamers. Republicans will let it shut

It has been nearly a month since Congress passed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, the most sweeping overhaul of the tax code since the 1980s. Of the 185-page bill’s many provisions, perhaps the most consequential is a reduction in the federal corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 21 percent. Among the tax bill’s leading opponents was Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, who was scathing in her denunciation of what she called the “GOP Tax Scam.” Shortly before the final vote, she delivered a blistering speech on the Senate floor. “Today is

Democrats are threatening to shut down the federal government, refusing to pass a spending bill unless it contains a path to legal status for the so-called “Dreamers” protected under President Obama’s DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) program. Are the Democrats really concerned with the status of these young people brought to the U.S. illegally as children, or with reforming our broken immigration system? No. They are trying to score political points. Let’s review: Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., recently went to a closed-door meeting at the White House to push his immigration plan. In the era of President Donald Trump, Democrats think presidents should be impeached over policy differences. In Trump´s case, the Democrats accuse him of winning the election by "colluding" with Russia to win. After nearly a year of investigations, there does not appear to be any evidence. Yet many Democrats have already called for impeachment. In truth, Democrats want this President out because they don´t like him or his policies. One of Trump´s major campaign promises was to build a "wall" to protect our southern border. Never mind that, in 2006, 26 Democratic senators -- including Hillary Clinton, then-Sen. Barack Obama and
