Alabama Sen. Shelby: ‘I couldn’t

CNN Wires, by Staff

Sen. Richard Shelby says he wants a Republican elected to the Senate on Tuesday to represent Alabama, but that he didn’t vote for GOP candidate Roy Moore in the special election. The Alabama Republican said he’s already cast his ballot, and that he chose a write-in candidate. “I’d rather see the Republican win, but I’d rather see a Republican write-in. I couldn’t vote for Roy Moore. I didn’t vote for Roy Moore,” Shelby told CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union.” Moore has been accused of pursuing sexual relationships with teenagers when he was in his 30s. In some

Judge Moore may not be my cup of tea, but if I were an Alabama voter, I would pull the lever for him.

Last I checked, the election was for Senator, not Sainthood.

According to past news reports, Shelby cast his write-in vote at some point prior to November 29.

Here is the Alabama procedure for write-in votes. It was not easy to find, but is presented in this article. Be informed. Read it.

The article in #6 was dated November 17. It includes the information about Shelby’s voting a write-in (that is interesting in a news release from the Alabama Secretary of State!). He’d have voted absentee before the news came out about the fakery among the Roy Moore accusers. Yet he persists today, nearly a month later.

Swamp creature.

This information comes two days after Senator Richard Shelby said he would write in a Republican candidate rather than vote for Roy Moore.

Why didn´t he come out sooner? Because he knows Moore is winning and there won´t be any Alabama backlash and he gets to appease McConnell and GOPe. His words don´t mean anything at this point.
I hope he decides to not run for reelection. These incumbent old-timers don´t understand just how angry people are in our corrupt political and media enterprise.

My vote for Roy Moore Tuesday is really a vote against Doug Jones, and in the hope that Moore will win but never actually be seated. I think that Gov. Ivey will appoint a good republican, hopefully not Luther Strange but I´ll take Strange over Moore or Jones.

Moore is a terrible candidate. I´m convinced the Dems crossed over to make sure he got the nomination he´s that bad.

However, he needs to win. These dirty tricks will only stop if they always blow up in the tricksters´ faces. Shelby should understand that.

And I say all of this believing that he´s most likely innocent of the most egregious of the charges against him. I don´t believe he assaulted or molested anyone. I think this is a major set up and I hope, if he´s able, he sues those involved.

He was still, in my opinion, the worst candidate of the three running. I so wish it were Mo Brooks on the ballot. But I´m not an Alabaman. I can only watch what happens and hope they vote for Moore regardless.

Following on the latter remarks of poster 14, here are few ifs and buts:
If Gov. Bentley had not fallen foolishly in love with an aide, there would have been no investigation of his office for malfeasance. But for the investigation of Bentley, there would have been no appearance of corruption on the part of Atty. Gen. Luther Strange for allegedly allowing the Gov. to resign without charges in exchange for the seat in U.S. Senate vacated by Jeff Sessions. If the incoming Governor, the former Lt. Gov., Kay Ivey, had not moved up the election date to fill the Senate seat, perhaps the best candidate, in my considered opinion, Mo Brooks, would have had time to demonstrate his suitability for the office. And finally, but for Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell´s meddling in the Republican primary election of the State, the whole process may have worked itself out to the better.
Of course, we all know the old saying about ifs and buts . . .

How much money has Richard Shelby and his kind made from the perfectly legal (and absolutely immoral) insider trading that´s allowed for the US Congress but for no one else? How much money in kickbacks (pardon, "campaign contributions") from the many contractors whose existence depends on the vast array of unconstitutional government spending programs that Senator Moore will oppose with vigor? The porker values his bank account more than the republic.

The mood on the international conference call at the beginning of this month was somber as Ian Bremmer, president of the political risk consulting firm Eurasia Group, prepared to list off top global dangers in the coming year. Bremmer began with a show-stopping line:"If we had to pick one year for a big unexpected crisis — the geopolitical equivalent of the 2008 financial meltdown — it feels like 2018." The reasons are many, Bremmer cited, but the most prominent causes for global insecurity stem from U.S. President Donald Trump´s move away from global leadership, and China´s eagerness to fill the

WASHINGTON – Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) called the government shutdown a “manufactured crisis” created by Democrats who want a permanent Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) fix, which he referred to as a “non-emergency” issue that does not belong in the short-term spending bill to continue federal government operations. “The one non-emergency issue our friends on the other side of the aisle are trying to shoehorn into this discussion doesn’t reach that status of emergency until March. This is pure folly. The American people know so, that´s why in a recent survey a majority said keeping the government open

Calling the Trump administration’s tax reform plan a “middle-class tax increase,” two California lawmakers introduced a bill that would force large companies to fork over half of their expected savings to the state. Assemblymen Kevin McCarty and Phil Ting, both Democrats, introduced Assembly Constitutional Amendment 22, which calls for a 10 percent surcharge on companies with a net earnings over $1 million. The plan could potentially raise billions for the state´s social services programs. “It is unconscionable to force working families to pay the price for tax breaks and loopholes benefiting corporations and wealthy individuals,” Ting said in a statement,

It has been four months since Megyn Kelly earned the wrath and ire of Jane Fonda for asking the 80-year-old actress about her plastic surgery, and the NBC host is now responding to the backlash. That moment occurred during Kelly´s third episode when she asked the Oscar-winner about what work she had done in the past, which prompted a steely Fonda to stare Kelly down and ask: ´We really want to talk about that now?´ Since then Fonda has complained about the question to a number of outlets, and even mocked Kelly´s question on Today last week during an interview
