President Trump and Vice-President Mike Pence met earlier today with congressional leadership: House Speaker Paul Ryan, Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. [Video and Transcript of remarks below] When Nancy Pelosi began talking the look on VP Pence’s face is, well, priceless. Additionally, anticipating Pelosi and Schumer are going to hold up the budget by threatening military spending, the ever-strategic Trump invited General Mattis into the discussion so the Democrat leadership could tell him to his face why they would be willing to put American military lives at risk. Morgan Stanley on Thursday fired former Congressman Harold Ford Jr. following allegations of misconduct. HuffPost reported Thursday that a woman alleged that Ford forcibly grabbed her one evening in Manhattan, engaging in harassment and intimidation. The incident took place several years ago and there are emails that confirm the interaction, HuffPost reported. "He has been terminated for conduct inconsistent with our values and in violation of our policies," Morgan Stanley said in a statement. In a tweet Ford denied the allegations. "This simply did not happen. I have never forcibly grabbed any woman or man in my life," Ford wrote. Ford

President Trump was hosting Pearl Harbor Survivors at the White House Thursday to honor the anniversary of the Japanese surprise attack. Trump went down the line, recognizing and complimenting each elderly veteran. In his prepared remarks, Trump recalled the popular phrase during WWII, ‘Remember Pearl Harbor.’ “One great battle cry could be heard by American friends and foes alike: Remember Pearl Harbor,” Trump said, asking the veterans rhetorically, “Have you heard that before a few times?” At the question, one of the veterans broke into song. The song stunned the room as he sang:Remember Pearl Harbor.

President Donald Trump earned a rare moment of praise from CNN on Thursday for following through on his campaign promises – a rarity amongst politicians in Washington D.C. CNN, who gave Trump 93 percent negative coverage during the beginning months of his presidency, argued that Trump’s “unbreakable bond” with those who voted for him comes from the fact that he worked hard to deliver on his promises. An analysis by CNN, titled "Donald Trump -- keeper of promises," concluded: A politician who actually does what he told voters he would do seems almost unfathomable in Washington, a town of broken

Thursday on “CBS This Morning,” Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) called on President Donald Trump to resign over the “Access Hollywood” that aired during the 2016 presidential campaign. Sanders said, “Let me take it a little step further. We have a president of the United States who acknowledged on a tape widely seen all over the country that he’s assaulted women, so I would hope maybe the president of the United States might pay attention of what’s going on and also think about resigning. But if your point is it is not just Al Franken you are absolutely right.”

Sen. Al Franken took a quick glance up at a jam-packed Senate press gallery as he entered the chamber Thursday, preparing to ask Alaska Sen. Dan Sullivan, who was presiding over the chamber, to allow him to make the speech that would end his political career. A senator who has long dodged questions from reporters, he finally had one for them. "Ready?" And with that, Franken, D-Minn., set out on his farewell address to the Senate — a 12-minute speech where he continued to proclaim his innocence against eight women who have accused him of sexual misconduct in recent weeks.

Rumors that the Republican National Committee was built on the site of an ancient moron burial ground gained new credence this week when it confirmed that it was renewing its support for Alabama´s Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore. I shouldn’t joke, because the worst thing about the RNC’s decision isn’t the stupidity — though the stupidity is real, and spectacular — but the moral obscenity. Last month, the RNC and the National Republican Senatorial Committee pulled out of their joint fundraising agreements because Moore had been credibly accused by several women of having preyed upon them when they were teenagers,

WASHINGTON — John Conyers III, who was endorsed by his father on Tuesday to succeed him in the House, was arrested in February after his girlfriend suffered knife cuts during an argument. Mr. Conyers, in an interview Wednesday, tried to head off a possibly disqualifying scandal just a day after his father resigned from Congress amid multiplying allegations of sexual harassment. As issues of sexual harassment and abuse roil Washington, any violent altercation against a woman could doom his effort to take the seat that his father held since 1965. The younger Mr. Conyers said that the couple began arguing around 3

"I don’t know the cause of it, but when you combine it with [Sen.] Bob Corker’s critique that the president of the United States is unstable, that he’s dangerous, when you look at the private comments that are made by members of Congress around his stability, you look at his actions in recent weeks," said Schmidt, who is also an

How is it possible that Hillary Clinton escaped criminal indictment for mishandling classified documents despite incriminating evidence that she violated the Espionage Act? Why did Donald Trump become the target of a criminal investigation for allegedly conspiring with Russia to influence the presidential election despite no evidence that he ever did so? The answer, it seems, comes down to one person who played a vital role in both cases: Peter Strzok, deputy director of counterintelligence at the FBI. Strzok was exchanging politically charged texts with an FBI lawyer that denigrated Trump and lauded Clinton at the same time he was

Former President Barack Obama is taking credit for the robust economic growth that is taking place under President Trump. At a conference of mayors in Chicago, Mr. Obama congratulated himself Tuesday for strong employment numbers in the U.S. this year, saying his climate-change policies have contributed to growth. “As we took these actions, we saw the U.S. economy grow consistently,” Mr. Obama said. “We saw the longest streak of job creation in American history by far, a streak that still continues by the way.” He added wryly, “Thanks, Obama.” The stock market has gained about 30 percent in value since

But during the course of his speech at an Alabama rally for Roy Moore this week, he gave the country an ugly lesson in what scorched-earth political warfare really entails. (Snip)Still, despite all the fun he’s having attacking his favorite targets and boosting Moore, Bannon has to be aware that he isn’t winning his war on McConnell. Try as he might to deny it, he knows McConnell is now more important to Trump than the Breitbart attack machine is. It was McConnell’s successful maneuvering and negotiating that gave Trump his
