RNC and Roy Moore, together
again: Spectacularly stupid
and morally obscene

USA Today, by Jonah Goldberg

Original Article

Rumors that the Republican National Committee was built on the site of an ancient moron burial ground gained new credence this week when it confirmed that it was renewing its support for Alabama´s Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore. I shouldn’t joke, because the worst thing about the RNC’s decision isn’t the stupidity — though the stupidity is real, and spectacular — but the moral obscenity. Last month, the RNC and the National Republican Senatorial Committee pulled out of their joint fundraising agreements because Moore had been credibly accused by several women of having preyed upon them when they were teenagers,

The RNC now sees the writing on the wall of a win and wants to be able to take credit for it and possibly ensnare Moore into some sort of one-sided loyalty. Moore should tell them thanks, but no thanks.

The credibility of his accusers is a lot to be desired. How can you convict a person on only accusations and no proof. Nobody would ever run for Congress again if they are disqualified by a Accuser with no evidence...

Oh, way to go, Jonah! What a terribly disguised POS article. Would your rather hand the seat to a Democrat just because some women came up with a really not-so-credible accusation of Moore creeping on them as teens? Think about it, dummy! For crying out loud, what the h is wrong with people these days?

Look, I know about Jonah. I´ve been a fan of his for years. but, this guy now needs to go on a sabbatical or a vacay to get his head on straight. All this one dimensional
BS going around and knee jerk politics is getting to him.

If Moore happens to be a bad guy, things can be done to censure him. If real evidence suddenly appeared that clearly demonstrated the guy was as immoral as a Democrat, then something can be done. but, the man is a demonstrable conservative before he is a demonstrable monster! At the very least he can keep the seat warm for a future man or woman to your/our liking. But, for crying out loud, do not pull the plug in the bottom of the boat just because you don´t like the color of it!

So the Democrats can do all this sex garbage x1000 and we have to hand them a crucial victory, over 38 year accusations that have no proof, so that we have the moral high ground?

Jonah was prepared to put the evil worse-than-trump-times-10,000 hr Clinton in the White House.

NO thanks. I will take advice from someone who isn’t icky from sidling up to hr Clinton.

I read a headline today, Another Woman Gives Evidence on Moore or similar. I read the article. It was a card from Moore. They had dated when she was 17 (of course). They kissed like once. He never tried to have sex with her. When she got engaged later he wanted to meet him to make sure he was good enough for her.

This woman cried according to the article as she realized what a monster Moore is after finding that card.

It actually makes him sound like a saint. Seinfeld dated Shoshanna when she was 17 and he was 39. See, the Demons can do it all day long. Vote for Moore. I am over the libs garbage.

Journalism 101: When you start out your opinion editorial with a bald faced lie -- "...because Moore had been CREDIBLY accused by several women..." -- you immediately render your argument invalid!!!!

Can someone please explain to me what happened to Jonah?!?!?!? Seriously, he used to be one of the good guys in journalism. He was a good and serious conservative who could express himself in clear and straight-forward ways.

But it´s like Trump Derangement Syndrome has rotted his once genius brain. What a pity...

Forty year old accusations and Moore has been in public office for many decades, with many election campaigns. Not credible that they only come forward now.

I call "prove it", and he is innocent until proven guilty.

Sadly, Jonah is on the Dem/Swamp Creature side of this issue, too.

"The seriousness of the charges" overrides the concept of innocent until proven guilty in his mind, clearly. Kangaroo kourt time, it seems.

No, no, no, #19. If Moore is guilty of abuse w/ the 14 yr old then he should not run and should be in jail. I think we all agree on that. If he kissed 17 year old girls when he was 32 and never did anything else the next 38 years, then you cannot say that we are slimy as the Democrats. Furthermore, where is your proof that Moore did the that one awful thing? I was totally against him too until I saw all the holes in the story. I am all for booting out perv Rs. But you have got to have proof before you hang somebody.

Jonah may not realize that the attack on Christian Judge Moore was aimed at President Trump. Maybe he is blinded by the NeverTrump hatred permeating The National Review that Rich Lowry and Jonah Goldberg have ruined. Sad to see. Donald Trump is the best President in my lifetime and we will defend him to the end. Judge Moore is for the ten commmandments and president Trump for Jerusalem as capital of Israel. Moore has run and/or been elected to statewide office four times in the past, yet nobody ever bothered to come forward and make a claim against him until he was running for the U.S. Senate. The whole affair has a really bad stench of political sabotage by the left. As a result, I am inclined to believe Judge Moore over all of the so called accusers. They´ll disappear after the election, whether he wins or loses. We can bet on that.

One of the problems with the stand that these nevertrumpers and eGOP oppo groups have is that the odds are stacking up real well for at least a couple of them being accused of harassment from years ago. What a disappointment is the once-honorable and astute Mr. Goldberg.
So many conservative characters have been assassinated by the left with impunity, yet until this month, their major players have totally gotten away with not only egregious sexual harassment, but theft, corruption, slander, even rape and murder. Now in a fit of national virtue preening, nobody is safe from groundless accusations, and ´guilty until proven innocent beyond a shadow of a doubt´ seems to be the unwritten law of the land.
An ER doc I know once remarked how few rape cases present with any physical findings at all, no DNA, no bruising, no emotional trauma apparent... The counseling nurses can document nothing. Just a claim, not verifiable. And that is right then and there, not 40 years later.
How many eye-witness accounts of accidents and crime scenes are loaded with misperceptions? Remember the ´recovered memories´ fad of some years back, where ´victims´ were persuaded of abuse that didn´t happen, and innocent people had not only their reputations and livelihoods ruined, but served hard time? How about the alleged hate crimes, ugly graffiti spray-painted by members of the aggrieved groups themselves? The Duke debacle?
This that same lynch mob mentality, and I´m not buying the left´s coordinated hit job on Moore.

A month ago, when Roy Moore was accused of having pursued teenage girls while in his 30s, he equivocated. “Do you remember dating girls that young?” Sean Hannity asked him. Moore hedged: “Not generally, no. If I did, you know, I’m not going to dispute anything, but I don’t remember anything like that.” Hannity asked Moore about Debbie Gibson, who said she had dated Moore when she was 17 and he was 34. “I don’t remember going out on dates,” said Moore. “I knew her as a friend. If we did go out on dates, then we did.” Moore’s uncertainty

Senate Republicans will have decisions to make. First, they must decide what to say. Members who believe the most serious allegations against Moore and don’t think the passage of nearly 40 years matters should feel free to say Moore is unfit for the Senate and thus should resign. Once they say so, they will have done as much as Democrats did to John Conyers and Al Franken. And much more than they did to Bill Clinton. Ed touched on this earlier. I think Franken’s play in his “resignation” speech was fiendishly clever. He’s quitting, yeah — but not for a few weeks, coincidentally after Alabama and Senate Republicans will have rendered their verdicts on Roy Moore. He was careful this morning not to admit to any wrongdoing, merely saying that he’d lost the confidence of his colleagues and therefore had to go. Imagine now that Moore wins and, as expected, McConnell’s caucus immediately starts hemming and hawing about whether he should be expelled. Some Republicans will deflect by insisting that the ethics committee should look into

Republicans rammed a bill through the House on Wednesday that would make it easier for gun owners to legally carry concealed weapons across state lines, the first significant action on guns in Congress since mass shootings in Nevada and Texas killed more than 80 people. The House approved the bill, 231-198, largely along party lines. The measure would allow gun owners with a state-issued concealed-carry permit to carry a handgun in any state that allows concealed weapons. It now goes to the Senate. Golly. It’s one thing to suspend a reporter for making an incredibly damaging error of basic fact on air. But to remove him from covering a particular subject altogether? That’s the sort of thing you might do if you’d concluded he’s incapable of covering that topic fairly. If it’s an innocent mistake borne of carelessness, there’s no need to declare certain topics off-limits. You do that only when you think the reporter’s view of that topic will necessarily compromise his judgment. And if you’ve got a reporter like that on staff and the topic happens to be the president and

Senate Republicans have approved the repeal of ObamaCare’s individual mandate as part of their tax-cut bill, a major step toward ending an unpopular part of the health-care law. “Families ought to be able to make decisions about what they want to buy and what works for them — not the government,” Sen. Moments ago, the special counsel released Michael Flynn’s “Statement of the Offense.” This document lays out Flynn’s crimes in far greater detail than the short “information” released earlier today. It’s important to state this clearly as possible — the statement contains no evidence of collusion with Russia to influence the presidential election. Instead, it amplifies the fact that Flynn apparently lied about contacts that were lawful and appropriate. First, the statement says that the day after President Obama announced sanctions in response to Russian efforts to interfere with the 2016 election, Flynn called a “senior official of the Presidential Transition

On Tuesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” co-host Mika Brzezinski argued President Trump’s tweet about Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) constitutes sexual harassment and that people who work around the president and don’t try to get him to delete the tweet don’t care about the country or women. Brzezinski said, “I just want to say something, beyond the fact that it is reprehensible that the president of the United States would say something so derogatory and disgusting about a woman, we’re not surprised, Mr. President. You do it all the time. You treat women terribly, and you treat the women around

DEVELOPING…Democrat Doug Jones has defeated Roy Moore in Alabama’s Senate election, according to a projection from the Fox News Decision Desk.ORIGINAL STORY…The hard-fought Alabama Senate race between Republican Roy Moore and Democrat Doug Jones remains too close to call, though a Fox News voter analysis shows the Democratic nominee enjoying a lead over his GOP rival. Jones’ competitiveness is a remarkable development in a deep red state that reflects just how badly Moore has been hurt by a sex scandal. But the race is still fluid. With 87 percent of precincts reporting, Jones and Moore both had 49.2 percent, according to

The NFL protests have been lucrative for social justice charities — they´ll receive a whopping $89 million in "settlement" money, redirected from veterans and breast cancer charity funds — but they´re also becoming a boon for cash-strapped football fans. It turns out, if you can still stomach a professional football game, you can now get tickets for about the same price as a couple of Starbucks lattes. According to Vivid Seats, an NFL ticket reselling site, seat prices at most NFL stadiums have bottomed out, leaving fans able to snag a lower level seat for a Buffalo Bills game for

The family of the alleged ISIS-inspired Port Authority bomber said they were “heartbroken” by the attack on Monday and blasted law enforcement agencies for what they claimed were heavy-handed tactics by investigators. “We are heartbroken by the violence that was targeted at our city today and by the allegations being made against a member of our family,” said the statement read by Albert Fox Cahn, the Legal Director for the NY Chapter Council for Islamic Relations. “But we’re also outraged by the behavior of the law enforcement officials who held children as small as 4 years old out in the

President Trump attacked Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) in a sexually suggestive tweet Tuesday morning that implied Gillibrand would do just about anything for money, prompting a swift and immediate backlash. “Lightweight Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, a total flunky for Charles E. Schumer and someone who would come to my office ´begging´ for campaign contributions not so long ago (and would do anything for them), is now in the ring fighting against Trump,” the president wrote. “Very disloyal to Bill & Crooked-USED!”

In 1990, when liberal journalists still had some sense of obligation to the truth, Michael Kelly wrote the following for GQ: As [Carla] Gaviglio enters the room, the six-foot-two, 225-plus-pound [Sen. Ted] Kennedy grabs the five-foot-three, 103-pound waitress and throws her on the table. She lands on her back, scattering crystal, plates and cutlery and the lit candles. Several glasses and a crystal candlestick are broken. Kennedy then picks her up from the table and throws her on [Sen. Chris] Dodd, who is sprawled in a chair. On Monday, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) told CNN’s Christiane Amanpour President Donald Trump should resign over the sexual misconduct allegations against him. Gillibrand said, “President Trump should resign. These allegations are credible, they are numerous. I’ve heard these women’s testimony, and many of them are heartbreaking. And President Trump should resign his position.” She added, “Whether he will ever hold himself accountable is something you really can’t hold your breath for. And so, Congress should have hearings. They should do their investigation. They should have appropriate investigations of his behavior and hold him accountable.”

A supposed "rising star" at the State Department has resigned in anger over President Trump´s and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson´s policies. Elizabeth Shackelford gave her resignation letter to the left-leaning Foreign Policy magazine, which was, of course, all too happy to publish it. Shackelford´s letter says she believes the new administration has abandoned human rights as a priority, and shows disdain for the State Department´s diplomatic work. "I have deep respect for the career Foreign and Civil Service staff who, despite the stinging disrespect this Administration has shown our profession, continue the struggle to keep our foreign policy on the positive

The rules of interaction between women and men in the workplace have been changed with a suddenness that inevitably produces unforeseen negative consequences, no matter how positive and necessary the switch might be. (snip) With the stakes so high, given the presumption of female veracity and male culpability anytime an objection is raised, men are, frankly, terrified. Get used to it, ladies. That is the other side of the coin of the new normal. The old norms that men (often cluelessly) incorporated into their behavior now have been discarded, but we have no clear understanding of what should replace them. By

Margaret Thatcher was born one. So were predecessor Prime Ministers Benjamin Disraeli and William E. Gladstone. Diana, the princess of Wales, too. Also William Pitt, who presided over the British victory in the French and Indian War and lent his name to Pittsburgh. And, according to some university authorities four decades ago, me as well. We were all born commoners. But — despite what newspapers, websites and television stations on both sides of the Atlantic have reported with wonder and wild-eyed delight — Meghan Markle, the actor who is to marry Prince Harry, is not a commoner. A suspect is in custody following an explosion at one of New York City’s busiest transit hubs in Times Square during Monday morning’s rush hour, police said. The bombing suspect was identified as Akayed Ullah, 27, according to New York Police Commissioner James O’Neill. Ullah had an explosive device strapped to his body, O’Neill said. What do we know about the suspect? Law enforcement sources told Fox News Ullah lives in Brooklyn. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said the explosion was an “attempted terrorist attack.” Sources told the Associated Press that Ullah may be of Bangladeshi descent. What else do we know about the

Several women who have accused US President Donald Trump of sexual assault and harassment were expected Monday to call on Congress to open an investigation. A press conference by the women will be hosted by Brave New Films, a media company that recently produced a clip detailing sexual harassment or assault claims by 16 women against Trump. A press release from Brave New Films on Sunday said the women would relate their accounts of Trump’s alleged “groping, fondling, forcibly kissing, humiliating, and harassing women.” The White House has dismissed all of the accusations as lies. During Trump’s presidential campaign, more than
