Global Temperature Increases Are
Lower and Slower, Says New Study

Reason, by Ronald Bailey

Original Article

A new study using more than 38 years satellite and weather balloon temperature data hypothesizes that global temperatures are going up more slowly than projected by most climate models. And right on time, these results were challenged by other researchers who defend the scientific climate consensus as embodied in Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change reports. The new study done by University of Alabama in Huntsville climatologists John Christy and Richard McNider published in the Asia-Pacific Journal of Atmospheric Science argues consensus models may not have accurately captured how storms in the tropics expel excess heat back into space and/or that they have failed to

Comments:
The consensus models are predicting a rate of warming that is more than twice as fast as reality.

More good news. And the evil ship USS MMGW takes another torpedoe. The list is getting serious.

Note that the authors point out at about five different things "not properly accounted for" in the climate models.

The climate models are pure science fiction. There are way more than five processes in the atmosphere which are not understood (probably some processes are not even KNOWN) well enough to make a valid mathematical model. There are holes the size of US states, literally, in their model structures.

The "climate models" are total BS, always have been.

Fake Science bent to support a leftist political agenda, not to discover truth.

The climate models are nothing more than gross simplifications of the real system. The models seem to assume that nothing more than CO2 influences temperatures and they even over estimated the effect of CO2.

Cui bono? It´s all about the money (scientists/schools - grant funds and orgasmic kudos, politicians - carbon taxes, Wall Street - derivative trading...) or it´s an activist hidden agenda. These people claiming we or cows or pick anything outrageous are to blame for climate change are truly evil. They have so corrupted the science and the discussion around it that real research has been sidelined for years through fear of vilification.

I view climate rather like the stock market - at turning points the majority has to be on the wrong side. Therefore, when the major volcanos give us another summer without sun and crops fail and we have famine, or we enter another Maunder Minimum and are up to our eyes in snow (in Miami Beach), the majority of climate predictors will not stand around with their thumbs up their bums and say: "Ooops!" Instead they´ll say: "This is perfectly in line with our models´ predictions. We need to expect this with global warming/bovine excrement."

Every time the IPCC goes through a revision incorporating "current research" the expected temperature is decreased. If we wait for the end of the projected period that IPCC uses the expected warming will be negligible.

It´s pathetic that the knee jerk reaction to a new study is fall back on the "settled" orthodoxy. I can almost envision the Priests of Consensus wearing hooded long robes, marching into the Church of Warming, chanting "2.1, 2.1, 2.1". They must Cast Out the nonbelievers.

Of course that´s not saying the new study is any good either.

A couple of things ARE settled however; the science is NOT settled AND many of the people who claim to be scientists are an embarrassment to the claim.

It is pointless to hear this kind of information without the context of normal short and long term cycles. Many will read this and believe we still need to destroy capitalism but with a bit less urgency.

We may be seeing exactly what we would expect had we all committed suicide in the 90´s after listening to Al Gore. Or perhaps all historical cyclical data suggest we should have cooled and the real effect is the small warming we had added to normal cooling we expected then there´s an arguement to explore what´s happening.

And is the small warming measured still bogus because of the effect of changes to the thermal conditions where measurements are taken, like measuring over blacktop where past measurements were over grass.

"Slower" as in "at a standstill." I recently discovered a correlation between global warming claims and the DOJ investigation of Russia Collusion. Where there is nothing, make up something and if the facts do not agree with projections, change them. With enough twisting and fiddling you will eventually get what you want. It may take a few thousand years but Hillary will then be able to assume the Oval Office. She will be mummified by then but the good news is, she will not be able to do much damage.

The alleged success of the California model is one of the more intense controversies in the nerdier corners of public-policy debate. For many progressives, California’s metastasizing liberalism proves you can have Scandinavian-style social policies and tax rates and still have robust economic growth. For conservatives, California is like a bumblebee. On paper, the damn thing shouldn’t be able to fly — and yet it does. Thus the cottage industry on the right of prophesizing California’s inevitable demise. What’s always bothered me about the whole argument is how it leaves out important factors. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said Wednesday that while he supports additional barriers at the U.S.-Mexico border, he believes some of the estimated costs for President Trump’s border wall are too high to justify. "I remain a fiscal conservative, even on the wall, so I’m not excited about spending $20, $30, $40 billion on a wall. I’m still a believer that we don’t have money to spend. We’re $700 billion in the hole,” Paul said on CNN.  “And while I will vote for money for barriers, I’m not voting for $40 billion for barriers,” Paul added.  A report last week detailed Trump’s

I have a new ritual on Sunday mornings. I wake up, get my coffee, fire up Twitter, and check in on the mental health of the pundit class. More often than not, President Donald Trump has tweeted something that outrages a whole mess of people, and the fallout can last for hours on end. Part of me is amused by this. It is pretty clear that one of the purposes of Trump’s Twitter feed is to drive people crazy, and for the life of me, I don’t know why people rush to take the bait.

Our national debt is $20.5 trillion and heading to $30 trillion by 2030. You´d think that this would be a wake-up call for Republicans, who control all three branches of government, to finally take spending seriously. Instead, they want to get rid of the spending caps meant to constrain lawmakers´ uncontrollable appetite to spend. The spending caps were implemented as part of the Budget Control Act of 2011. The deal itself was the result of a vigorous debt ceiling battle between those who wanted the unconditional ability to raise the debt limit and those who called for fiscal discipline going

There’s a lot not to like about the current Republican tax proposal, beginning with its effect on the debt, to which it will add about $1.3 trillion according to current estimates. It is becoming something of an unfortunate tradition in American politics that deficits only matter to the party out of power. Republicans wailed and moaned about the Obama-Pelosi-Reid deficits and, to their credit, reduced them when they came to power in Congress. But having whiffed on health-care reform and much else toward which they have turned their increasingly addled, muddled, and unample attention, they are desperate to pass some

Was a 14-year-old girl molested by Alabama Senate Republican candidate Roy Moore, or is she lying? It’s a yes-or-no question. Was a 16-year-old girl sexually assaulted by Moore, or is she lying? Again, it’s a yes-or-no question. Finally, do you believe that there are conditions under which a child molester should sit in the United States Senate? Again, this question is binary. Yet many conservatives seem to be seeking a third answer to all three of these questions, mostly to avoid giving straight answers. Let’s begin with the first question: Did Roy Moore molest a 14-year-old girl?
