In apparent shift, Trump tweets
he fired Flynn for lying to FBI

The Hill, by Jordan Fabian & Julia Manchester

Original Article

President Trump said Saturday he had to fire Michael Flynn as national security adviser because he lied to Vice President Pence and the FBI, an apparent shift from the reasons Trump stated at the time of Flynn´s ouster. Trump’s changing rationale is a discrepancy that will catch the attention of prosecutors on Mueller’s team looking into whether the president tried to obstruct the investigation. "I had to fire General Flynn because he lied to the Vice President and the FBI. He has pled guilty to those lies," Trump tweeted while traveling in New York City for fundraising events.

And just yesterday, Trump said he had eggs for breakfast, and then later, he said he actually had eggs and bacon. This kind of shift won´t be tolerated by the MSM.

Their Trump Derangement Syndrome is getting old.

Isn´t it interesting how they eagerly point out an apparent story shift when it comes to Trump. But Clinton´s changing stories only result in the MSM saluting and acting as if that was always the story.

At the time Trump fired Flynn for not giving an accurate statement to Pence the FBI had not yet interviewed Flynn. Trump is simply stating that Flynn was fired for lying to Pence and that he also apparently lied to the FBI. Actually, based on Comey´s testimony to Congress the FBI didn´t actually believe Flynn lied but just misremembered the details of his meeting with the Russian ambassador because of confusion rather than malice. It was Mueller who interpreted Flynn´s statements as criminal and used it as a club to "break" Flynn with threats of financial ruin and unlimited legal fees. Once again Trump´s inarticulate misstatement is being parsed to create the illusion of obstruction of justice. Nice.

The Dec. 1 plea deal struck with President Trump’s former national security adviser, Michael Flynn, marked a big step forward in Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation. It may also have provided some protection for Mueller against being fired by the president—and helped ensure that his probe will continue, even if one day he’s not leading it. (Snip) Even if Mueller goes, his team is providing tools that other prosecutors or investigators can use to continue inquiries. Flynn’s deal requires him to cooperate with state and local officials as well as with federal investigators.

Paul Manafort ghost-wrote an editorial about his political work in Ukraine, violating a court order, according to a new court filing from the special counsel’s office. The allegation was disclosed Monday as the reason the special counsel was backing out of a deal on bail with Manafort’s lawyers. The deal would have loosened the terms of house arrest for President Trump’s former campaign manager. Manafort wanted to be allowed to travel among a few states in return for agreeing to forfeit $11.6 million in property if he missed a court appearance.

Former "Access Hollywood" host Billy Bush pushed back against President Trump´s reported claim that the voice in the infamous 2005 backstage tape from the show was not him, accusing the president in a New York Times op-ed of engaging in "revisionist history." "President Trump is currently indulging in some revisionist history, reportedly telling allies, including at least one United States senator, that the voice on the tape is not his. A retired Alabama police officer said she was told to keep an eye on Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore back in the 1980s because he was known to harass teenage cheerleaders at local school ballgames. Ex-Gadsden cop Faye Gray told MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell that rumors of Moore’s liking young girls were heard on a daily basis and she was informed that he had been banned from Gadsden Mall because he allegedly targeted young female employees. “We were also told to watch him at the ballgames and make sure that he didn’t hang around the cheerleaders,” Faye said.

Cook Political Report, a top nonpartisan election handicapper, is predicting a wave of Democratic victories in the 2018 midterm elections. In a new analysis, Cook editor Amy Walter says she feels a similarity to a wave of Democratic Congressional victories in 2006, in which the party took control of the House, the Senate and a majority of governorships during former President George W. Bush´s second term. “[B]ack in 2006 ... I argued that unlike the last wave election of 1994, the party holding the White House was much better prepared. Republicans in 2006 had significant financial advantages,” Walter writes.

I´m pretty much done with the sex scandals. They were fun, but they´re just going to have to carry on without me. If someone broke the law and you can prove it, prosecute him. If someone violated the rules of his organization, eject him. Other than that, if women have forgotten the fine art of slapping a man in the face, there´s not a whole hell of a lot society can do for them. You keep silent for forty years and then ruin a man´s career with an unprovable allegation — and that makes you a hero? Not to me. Look,

There are times in life when the institutional ground underneath you begins to crumble — and with it, longstanding attachments. Such is the case for me when it comes to the Republican Party and evangelicalism. I’ve been a part of both for my entire adult life. The latest example is in Alabama, where Roy Moore, the Republican Senate candidate, stands accused of varying degrees of sexual misconduct by nine women, including one who was 14 years old at the time.
