Video released by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office shows a bus attendant allegedly abusing a special needs child on a school bus. Brenda Nelson, 65, was arrested on a child abuse charge Thursday. According to her arrest affidavit, an investigation started last week after someone reported seeing her hit a student on the bus coming from Doris Sanders Learning Center in Lakeland. Deputies say but surveillance video shows Nelson not only hit the restrained student in the head with her open palm, but also grab the girl by her hair and violently shake her back and forth. District officials interviewed Nelson about the

If you want to understand the news that has been swirling around the FBI’s Peter Strzok, who played a key role in both the Hillary Clinton email investigation and Robert Mueller’s wide-ranging Russia probe (including interviewing General Flynn), you should watch this riveting seven-minute video of Congressman Jim Jordan interrogating FBI Director Christopher Wray earlier today. Wray was testifying before the House Judiciary Committee. Jordan does a beautiful job of tying together the Strzok-related stories that have bubbled to the surface in recent days. He keeps it clean, too, not even mentioning that Strzok’s anti-Trump messages were exchanged with his illicit

President Trump last week retweeted some videos posted by England’s Britain First party, and the usual suspects fell all over themselves condemning the president in an orgy of mass virtue-signaling. The usual question-begging epithets flew thick and fast: “racist,” “fascist,” “hateful,” “bigotry,” Islamophobic,” “extremist,” “far-right,” all the dull clichés trotted out to mask the chronic appeasement of Islamic jihad on the part of bipartisan internationalists. The uproar over Trump’s actions confirms that the willful blindness of most Western leaders over the reality of Islamic violence continues to weaken our response to the jihadist threat. The three videos that Trump retweeted showed examples

President Trump displayed more courage and integrity Wednesday than Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama ever did when he ended twenty-two years of waivers postponing the U.S. Embassy to Israel’s move to Jerusalem, declared that the U.S. recognized that Jerusalem was Israel’s capital, and announced that preparations for the embassy move would begin forthwith. And the world reacted with…Islamophobia. “Today,” Trump said, “we finally acknowledge the obvious. That Jerusalem is Israel’s capital. This is nothing more or less than a recognition of reality. It is also the right thing to do. It’s something that has to be done.” He

TAMPA — Investigators had questions for the parents of Howell Emanuel Donaldson III, the suspect in four Seminole Heights killings. They wanted to ask Howell Jr. and Rosita Donaldson about their 24-year-old son’s background, developmental history, gun possession and state of mind. But both parents refused to answer Tuesday, defying an investigative subpoena, according to the Hillsborough State Attorney’s Office. They revealed only the names, addresses and birth dates of family members before refusing to answer other questions. "That is a rarity," State Attorney Andrew Warren said at a Wednesday news conference. "Because most people understand that they have a duty to answer

PORT RICHEY — A Pasco County Sheriff’s Office helicopter was helping deputies on the ground Tuesday night when the pilots said they were blinded by a red laser aimed at them from below. "I got a guy lasering us pretty bad," Deputy Stephen Bowman said in a cockpit video released by the agency. He was the co-pilot and Tim Bullis was the pilot of the Bell OH-58 helicopter. Whoever was pointing the laser wasn’t letting up, the Sheriff’s Office said, and there were no deputies on the ground free to drive over and put a stop to it. So the pilots did it

In the last 12 months US backed combat operations drove ISIS from its last bits of territory; America withdrew from the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, UNESCO, the Trans-Pacific Partnership. The House and Senate have come within sight of overhauling the tax code and dismantling Obamacare. Most recently Donald Trump in a spectacular departure from his predecessor´s Middle Eastern diplomacy has moved the US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. It is as if a hurricane has swept through Washington. Each fallen pillar represents a very deliberate reversal of the status quo ante policies of Barack Obama. The entire edifice the former

Democratic support for the tenure of Minnesota Senator Al Franken in office died on the vine today. First Senator Kirsten Gillibrand stepped forward to call for Franken’s resignation. Her call was followed by other Democratic women senators with the exception of his colleague Amy Klobuchar, whose help was unnecessary to the task at hand. However, she had been among the first Senators to call for Franken’s case to be remitted to the Senate Ethics Committee. It wouldn’t be Minnesota nice for her to pile on now. Some two dozen Democratic Senators have called for Franken’s resignation. Franken’s response is to

The president´s decision to move the U.S. embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem to be announced Wednesday is already sending the usual suspects into a tizzy. The famous Arab Street, we are told, will be erupting. The despicable fascist that runs Turkey has warned of imminent disaster. And the president of France is doing what the French usually do vis-a-vis the Jews -- well, not quite that bad. But the real question is how the Palestinians themselves will react once the dust has settled. Will they continue decades of self-destructive violent protests that have led many of us to

MSNBC journalists on Tuesday rushed to the defense of the Democrat in Alabama’s Senate race, spinning Doug Jones as “moderate” and “conservative.” This despite his firm support for abortion and some gun control policies. After playing a clip of Donald Trump saying, “We certainly don´t want to have a liberal Democrat that´s controlled by Nancy Pelosi and controlled by Chuck Schumer,” an aggrieved Andrea Mitchell huffed, “The President is again misstating the record of Doug Jones...” Wall Street Journal Deputy Bureau Chief Jean Cummings lamely insisted, “He´s basically a moderate to conservative Democrat.” She added that he "supports abortion rights." Rumors that the Republican National Committee was built on the site of an ancient moron burial ground gained new credence this week when it confirmed that it was renewing its support for Alabama´s Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore. I shouldn’t joke, because the worst thing about the RNC’s decision isn’t the stupidity — though the stupidity is real, and spectacular — but the moral obscenity. Last month, the RNC and the National Republican Senatorial Committee pulled out of their joint fundraising agreements because Moore had been credibly accused by several women of having preyed upon them when they were teenagers,

Al Franken’s resignation speech on Thursday seemed less heartfelt than grudging. He cast it not as an act of atonement — he continues to deny the charges largely and acknowledged through his stifled rage that his previous quasi-apologies had hastened his demise — but a reluctant act of gallantry. He was submitting docilely to the “broader conversation” on sexual harassment, he said, while signaling that his replacement, to whom he referred as “her,” would be a female pol embodying that conversation. The speech followed the usual pattern of lying pols: I didn’t do it, I’m only quitting because I am a

How is it possible that Hillary Clinton escaped criminal indictment for mishandling classified documents despite incriminating evidence that she violated the Espionage Act? Why did Donald Trump become the target of a criminal investigation for allegedly conspiring with Russia to influence the presidential election despite no evidence that he ever did so? The answer, it seems, comes down to one person who played a vital role in both cases: Peter Strzok, deputy director of counterintelligence at the FBI. Strzok was exchanging politically charged texts with an FBI lawyer that denigrated Trump and lauded Clinton at the same time he was

(Snip)Still, despite all the fun he’s having attacking his favorite targets and boosting Moore, Bannon has to be aware that he isn’t winning his war on McConnell. Sen. Al Franken took a quick glance up at a jam-packed Senate press gallery as he entered the chamber Thursday, preparing to ask Alaska Sen. Dan Sullivan, who was presiding over the chamber, to allow him to make the speech that would end his political career. A senator who has long dodged questions from reporters, he finally had one for them. "Ready?" And with that, Franken, D-Minn., set out on his farewell address to the Senate — a 12-minute speech where he continued to proclaim his innocence against eight women who have accused him of sexual misconduct in recent weeks.
