Three UCLA basketball players who were arrested in China for allegedly shoplifting while their team was in the country for a tournament last week were released and placed on a flight home Tuesday, Fox News confirmed. Trump´s fault. ;-)

If O-zero had managed to accomplish this (which would have been far beyond his skill level in international negotiation), the enemedia would have crowned him King of the USA upon his return.

As it is, they´ll just sniff at what President Trump has done, and mutter to themselves.

It would be a travesty to allow them to play w/o any disciplinary actions by either UCLA, Pac 12, or the NCAA? Plus it would send a terrible message to young aspiring athletes. They have embarrassed the school, NCAA athletics, and the nation. At a minimum a meaningful suspension is in order.

Having zero first hand knowledge, I suspect the incident was resolved with the retailer by a private party (UCLA..whomever). The Government, satisfied the matter was settled released the perps.
The problem is, those youngsters didn´t learn a darn thing. The Chinese treated them with kid gloves rather than the basic thieves they were. It would have done those kids a service to spend a night or two in jail if for no other reason but to learn there ARE consequences for actions.
I respect and thank the Chinese government for handling this as they did. I thank them for not making this some huge diplomatic issue. I do, however, hope that UCLA and the US Government pick up where the Chinese left off. The sooner they learn they aren´t the center of the world, the better life will be for those kids.

The Democrats’ 2018 chances will be damaged by the government shutdown if voters blame the Democrats’ pro-amnesty agenda, a Washington Post report admitted Thursday evening. The good news for President Donald Trump and the bad news for amnesty-advocates was buried in the last paragraph of the article, which is based on a poll conducted for Minority Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer: If Democrats can make this looming shutdown about Trump and his ability to govern, they will be in a strong position to win the fight nationally and help the “Big Five [Democratic Senators]” hold their own. The acting director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), former congressman Mick Mulvaney, has submitted a budget request that may be a first in the history of government. The CFPB is an independent agency that recieves its funding from the Federal Reserve. The director must submit a budget request to the Fed every quarter. The most recent budget request came from former director Richard Cordray, an Obama appointee. Cordray asked the Fed for $217 million. But Mulvaney shocked official Washington by making a budget request for zero dollars. That´s $0.00 in taxpayer funds.

The Republican-backed federal tax bill flipped the tables on a never-ending question for California politicians: Will high taxes lead the state’s wealthiest residents to flee the Golden State for the comparable tax havens of Florida, Nevada and Texas? Republicans reliably raise that alarm when Democrats advocate for tax increases, like the 2012 and 2016 ballot initiatives that levied a new income tax on very high-earning residents. But now, with the federal tax bill cutting off deductions that benefited well-off Californians, the state’s Democrats suddenly are singing the GOP song about a potential millionaire exodus. “People with higher incomes pay a
