United Airlines on Saturday temporarily suspended its Delhi-bound flights from Newark, USA, citing “poor air quality” – the first cancellation of an international flight after pollution levels rose in the national capital with air quality index reaching the ‘severe’ category. “United temporarily suspended Newark-Delhi flights due to poor air quality concerns in Delhi,” a spokesperson of the US-based airline said. The airline website said that a flight from Newark to Delhi (UA 082) was cancelled due to “severe weather condition in our route network”. In an email on November 9, the airline company informed its passengers that

I saw trash/garbage fires dumping lots of smoke when I was there, but we did luck out and had some relatively OK skies in Delhi, but this was about 10 yrs ago, may have gotten worse. Overall, the countryside was always pretty hazy.

I´d be MUCH more concerned about the "air quality" on the flight over, as most Indians don´t wash their clothes fearing the dyes will run, as did early "Madras Plaid" shirts imported in the early 60´s with no warning.

Washington - US President Donald Trump tweeted right to the end of the year Sunday, boasting of his accomplishments in his turbulent first year in office and throwing down the gauntlet for the US midterm elections. (Snip) "Why would smart voters want to put Democrats in Congress in 2018 Election when their policies will totally kill the great wealth created during the months since the Election," he said. "People are much better off now not to mention ISIS, VA, Judges, Strong Border, 2nd A, Tax Cuts & more?" President Trump gave an impromptu half-hour interview with the New York Times on Dec. 28. We combed through the transcript and here’s a quick roundup of the false, misleading or dubious claims that he made, at a rate of one every 75 seconds. (Some of the interview was off the record, so it’s possible the rate of false claims per minute is higher.) “Virtually every Democrat has said there is no collusion. There is no collusion. .?.?. I saw Dianne Feinstein the other day on television saying there is no collusion.” (Snip) She did not flatly say there was no collusion and instead was more nuanced. Baghdad - The two Turkish men shuffled into the courtroom, their closely cropped hair, clean-shaven faces and chubby waistlines hardly the look of fearsome fighters of the Islamic State. The men are among hundreds of foreigners detained in Iraq on terrorism charges after the toppling of the Islamic State’s self-declared caliphate. Egypt’s Health Ministry spokesman says at least 10 people, including eight Coptic Christians, have been killed in a shootout outside a south Cairo church. Khaled Megahed says Friday’s attack took place when gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire outside Mar Mina church. One gunman was shot dead as was a security officer, he said. Egypt’s state-run MENA news agency, citing an unnamed Interior Ministry official, said the other assailant fled the scene and was being pursued. Earlier, security officials who spoke on condition of anonymity said two police were killed. The spokesman for the Coptic Orthodox Church said

At first glance, the gaming apps — with names like “Pool 3D,” “Beer Pong: Trickshot” and “Real Bowling Strike 10 Pin” — seem innocuous. One called “Honey Quest” features Jumbo, an animated bear. Yet these apps, once downloaded onto a smartphone, have the ability to keep tabs on the viewing habits of their users — some of whom may be children — even when the games aren’t being played. It is yet another example of how companies, using devices that many people feel they can’t do without, are documenting how audiences in a rapidly changing entertainment landscape are viewing television and commercials.

Washington - President Trump was already revved up when he emerged from his limousine to visit NATO’s new headquarters in Brussels last May. Moscow - President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia, speaking a day after an explosion in St. Petersburg, said on Thursday that he had ordered security agents to “take no prisoners” during terrorist attacks, and authorized the police to “liquidate the bandits on the spot.” Mr. Putin has long burnished his image as tough on terrorism, and the comments were noteworthy not so much for signifying a change in policy — Russian counterterrorism forces have shot and killed dozens of terrorism suspects over the years — as for displaying the antiterrorism swagger he was known for early in his tenure.

A pair of northern Italy´s largest cities have introduced traffic restrictions in a bid to tackle air pollution and smog. Bans on certain types of vehicle have been introduced temporarily in Milan and Turin, both of which have exceeded safe limits for pollution in recent days. Despite hopes that rain and lower levels of traffic during the holiday season would help combat smog, air pollution has crept to dangerous levels in recent weeks. A daytime traffic ban has been extended to include relatively clean Euro 5 diesel cars in Turin, as the city raises its air pollution alert level to “red”. Everyone suspected the sketchy Steele Dossier was what corrupt FBI and DOJ officials used to get the October 2016 FISA warrant against Trump. FBI and DOJ officials refuse to answer that question publicly. Despite a hundred different ways congressional investigators have asked the question, and despite numerous on-camera questions to FBI and DOJ officials about the 2016 FISA process, no-one had definitively confirmed the Christopher Steele ‘Russian Dossier’ was the underlying evidence for the 2016 FISA application to gain wiretaps and electronic surveillance upon presidential candidate Donald Trump.

President Trump’s love for all things gold apparently doesn’t extend to the Golden State. Trump is about to become the first president since Dwight D. Eisenhower 64 years ago to skip a visit to California during his first calendar year in office.
