Former Massachusetts governor and failed president candidate Mitt Romney took opportunity to weigh in on the whole Roy Moore matter — the one that finds him ensnarled in a web of allegations of sexual improprieties with underage and young girls — and call for the former Alabama judge to immediately “step aside” and abandon his Senate aspirations. No need to wait on proof. To Romney, the allegations are bad enough. “Innocent until proven guilty is for criminal convictions, not elections,” he said, The Hill reported. (Snip) Indeed, Several other Republicans have come forward to say or suggest the same as
Comments: The GOPe really, really does not want Roy Moore in the US Senate. Far preferable for them to have a RINO or a Democrat to keep their gravy wagon rolling.
This whole attack is orchestrated by Romney, McConnell, and McCain. I think all of them are unfit for office, so I will go with Moore. Even though I do not know Moore, I know these guys, and that they are very malicious, when anyone threatens their power.
No surprise. More evidence that the GOP is ´unfit to govern´, and we need a new party not dependent on the UniParty Establishment special interests and donors. Legit populist conservatives like Freedom Caucus members need to help establish it, and switch to give it some ´gravitas´.
By so cavalierly bypassing Moore´s due-process right to be presumed innocent of allegations until proven guilty (especially for OLD allegations having no evidence), Mitt shows himself to be unfit for office.
Mitt never disappoints me. He always does exactly what is best for his corporate handlers. Once he shows why he´s worse than the worst democrats, who at least are blatantly evil. He tries to hide it, but it always shines through. He´s scum.
So predictable. Of course Romney would open up his mouth and show his bias. Who will be next? The Bushes? Lindsey Graham? This has nothing to do with a crime, and everything to do with destroying a Conservative Christian.
Washington is a members-only club. We aren´t welcome.
Who asked you, you rino pond scum sucker?! Take another dive, not re the presidency, this time but in a sand box. Once there, pound sand! Go put some chapstick or lipstick if you prefer, on some more democrat boots and have at it, you bastid.
I was stunned when Mitt sucked up to President Trump, trying to get the SoS job. You´d think he would have kept his head down after the way he attacked Trump during the primaries. Some people are shameless. I think Trump just played with Romney to see how far he could make him go.
Mitt is saying the Democrats can now claim anything against their GOP opponents, and those claims must now be deemed accurate, and thus, remove that person from consideration for office.
IF he did any of the alleged claims, it would indicate a tendency to be attracted to under-aged girls, and something that likely would be on-going. Likely would have been known by now, after so much time in office, I would presume.
Romney could have just as easily kept his mouth shut on this particular situation and not lost anything. But no, he just had to say something, and now he´s turned more people off and dug his hole deeper. He´s tone-deaf.
My guess is McCain is the ring leader of the anti Trump movement. McConnell, Flake, Romney, the Bushies, are his little puppets. Don’t forget Romney invited everyone but Trump to his so called meetings at his retreat during the primaries.
The swamp is in high gear. They failed to stop Trump, now they are damned determined to destroy Moore before he can win. All the more why we need to destroy the Establishment now before they damage our country any further.
Mitt Romney continues to prove those of us who pointed out the man is and always has been a bought and paid for blue blood Republican Establishment huckster correct.
Notice it´s the same crowd of #NeverTrumpChumps who have been doing everything they can to undermine the Trump Administration whining now. They will oppose anyone who will work with President Trump to get things done.
Mitt, why didn´t you blast Harry Reid as "unfit for office" after he told that lie about you that possibly caused you to lose in 2012?
The other day, I was watching that awful video on youtube when Mitt Romney made that big BS statement about Donald J Trump back in 2016 - so incredible a revelation to me, like the Bushes - what a trashy guy Romney is and what a terrible advertisment for Mormons - why do they allow people like Romney and Harry Reid to be go along, never scolding them, never calling them out.
Utah, I hope you don´t let Romney get that job as Senator - surely you must have better people, of higher moral character and integrity.
Also, it looked to me like he was either wearing a toupee or using Grecian Formula - check it out!
If Mitt had taken off his gloves running against obama he might have won.
I still have no clue what the anti-Trumpsters have against the president other than they think he is ruining their reputation as the guys who act better than democrats. Some one clue them into the fact that that attitude is exactly why we support the president adamantly. And some of us like me actually like the media being outed as they are being.
Going back to the status quo isn´t going to happen IMO and the fact that Mitt said he could deal with Clinton makes his own stance on right and wrong suspect.
The establishment are doing this on purpose to take back the party at the risk of the country? They overestimate what they can do after the GOP take down of our own party majority and underestimate the boycotting mood of the frustrated majority of the working class.
I can understand if they are trying to discourage any more hard-line right GOP since they may not be able to be elected and in that case the folks who are cheering for the likes of Roy Moore had better come out to the polls broken glass or the dems will take Congress and President Trump will deal with the dems, IMO. Constant vigilance?
The Mormons don´t seem to have much use for Southern Christians. Romney is a swamp creature, a backstabbing McCain with no backbone. Sure, he´ll attack GOPs but never go after socialists because he is one of them.
Federal Way, Wash. — A vicious attack left a woman in Federal Way with broken bones in her face. It might have been motivated by her effort to help others — warning them of a man who approached her asking for directions and then began fondling himself. The victim, 35-year-old Amanda Edwards, says it started in a Safeway parking lot and ended on her walk home. (Snip) Edwards was at Safeway to buy dinner for her three kids around 6:15 Monday night. A Democratic congresswoman says she was sexually assaulted by a “prominent, historical” senator in the 1980s — and “everyone on Capitol Hill knew” that he was a harasser. “Historical figure, hand kept going up the leg, I took it off. A women member was at the table, recognized what was happening, and said, ‘switch places,´” Michigan Rep. Debbie Dingell told CNN. (Snip) Dingell said it happened in her first year of marriage to Rep. John Dingell, whom she wed in 1981. But despite the 36-year time gap, Dingell said she’s still afraid to name the prominent perv.
A Department of Homeland Security official resigned Thursday after a report revealed he had made racist remarks in past radio interviews. The Rev. Jamie Johnson, director of the Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships at DHS, said in a 2008 radio show that the black community had turned “America´s major cities into slums because of laziness, drug use and sexual promiscuity.” (Snip) In another discussion, Johnson said President George W. Bush made a “critical mistake” after the Sept. 11 terror attacks when he called Islam a religion of peace. “People who want a moderate version of Islam worldwide, the Islam that
Embattled Republican Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore on Thursday said allegations that he sexually harassed women and girls won’t push him out of the race, and instead called on the GOP’s Senate leader to step down. Moore once again forcefully denied the accusations, and cut ties to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who had called on Moore to step aside. “Many of you have recognized that this is an effort by Mitch McConnell and his cronies to steal this election from the people of Alabama, and they will not stand for it,” Moore told reporters. “I want to tell you
Des Moines, Iowa — As he tows a 96-square-foot house around Des Moines, Joe Stevens is overwhelmed by the intense, sometimes tearful support he receives from churches, schools and service groups for his plan to use the trendy little structures to help homeless people. But when Stevens actually tried to create a village of the homes in Iowa’s largest city, the response was far different. (Snip) In at least a dozen cases across the nation, neighbors organized to stop tiny house projects, including in Charlotte, North Carolina; Nashville, Tennessee; San Jose, California; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Tallahassee, Florida; and Bend, Oregon.
Target Corp.’s holiday-quarter profit forecast missed analyst expectations, sending its shares down 10 percent on Wednesday as hopes faded that the retailer would make a shopping season comeback. Target has missed Wall Street’s fourth-quarter profit expectations for the past two years. It is gearing up for the holidays by cutting prices and introducing delivery options to compete with Wal-Mart and online sellers, moves that can lure customers but crimp margins. (Snip) “This is still a very competitive environment, and Target has no choice but to respond to that.. the problem is that Wall Street don’t necessarily understand
An illegal immigrant was charged this week in the death of a New York socialite who was found bludgeoned to death in her hilltop estate two years ago, the end result of an elaborate international manhunt. "The murder scene was horrendous," Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino said. "From our evaluation, we believe the murder weapon was a home fire
A special Haitian Senate commission is accusing more than a dozen former government officials and heads of private firms of embezzling $2 billion in Venezuelan oil loans — money that could have helped the country rebuild after its devastating earthquake in 2010. An anti-corruption investigation concluded that charges should be filed against two former prime ministers, several ex-ministers and the owners of private firms on grounds they misappropriated and embezzled money that left post-quake Haiti with unfinished government buildings, poorly constructed housing and overpriced public works contracts. (Snip) “It can be declared that the PETROCARIBE has been the object of embezzlement,
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Monday called on Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore to step aside, hours after a new accuser came forward alleging Moore sexually assaulted her when she was a teenager. “If he continues this will not end well for Mr. Moore,” Graham tweeted. (Snip) Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), on Monday called for Moore to “step aside,” and was followed by Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) and others. Some have suggested rallying a write-in campaign around Sen. Luther Strange (R-Ala.), who lost to Moore in a primary runoff in September.
More than six in ten babies born in London hospitals have foreign mothers who are either immigrants or visiting from abroad, official figures show. The evidence of the impact of immigration on the NHS was revealed in a breakdown of hospital records for last year published by the Office for National Statistics. (Snip) In one London hospital nearly four out of five births were to mothers born abroad, and in two others the figure was over 70 per cent. Across the country just over 28 per cent of babies in 2016 were born to foreign-born mothers, up from just over 11 per
A music video director on Sunday morning (Nov. 12) temporarily placed a twice-life size statue of an African-American woman on the slab where the statue of Jefferson Davis once stood. The controversial monument to the President of the Confederacy was removed on May 11. New Orleans filmmaker Zac Manuel explained that the installation will set the scene for a video accompanying a new song titled "If All I Was Was Black" by renowned folk singer and civil rights activist, Mavis Staples, who was not present Sunday. Monday on CNBC, former Gov. Jeb Bush (R-FL) said due to the sexual misconduct accusations leveled against former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore, he should step aside in his campaign for the U.S. Senate. Bush said, “This is not a question of innocence or guilt like in a criminal proceeding, this is a question of what’s right and what’s wrong. Acknowledging that you’re dating teenagers when you’re 32-years old as assistant state attorney is wrong. It’s just plain wrong.” He added, “We need to stand for basic principles, and decency has to be one of those.
Former IRS executive Lois G. Lerner told a federal court last week that members of her family, including “young children,” face death threats and a real risk of physical harm if her explanation of the tea party targeting scandal becomes public. Ms. Lerner and Holly Paz, her deputy at the IRS, filed documents in court Thursday saying tapes and transcripts of depositions they gave in a court case this year must remain sealed in perpetuity, or else they could spur an enraged public to retaliate. “Whenever Mss. Lerner and Paz have been in the media spotlight, they have faced death threats and
Doug Jones, the Democrat running for Alabama’s U.S. Senate seat, says he loves to hunt but the Second Amendment has “limitations.” He believes that every right enumerated in the Bill of Rights is limited, and the Second Amendment is no exception.According to the Alabama Political Reporter, Jones described himself as “a Second Amendment guy,” but stressed that some gun control is necessary. He said, “We’ve got limitations on all constitutional amendments in one form or another.” This position is contrary to the clear language of the amendment, which states that the right to keep and bear arms “shall not be
The father of one of the UCLA basketball players arrested on suspicion of shoplifting while on tour in China isn´t praising President Donald Trump for his involvement in their release. When asked by ESPN what role the president played in brokering his son´s freedom, LaVar Ball — a former basketball player himself and star on the Facebook reality series "Ball in the Family" — responded with his own questions. "Who? What was he over there for? Don´t tell me nothing," Ball said. "Everybody wants to make it seem like he helped me out." Ball in EPSN´s report on Saturday also downplayed
What a disgusting cesspool of self-serving corruption is the nation’s capital and no better example of that can be found today than Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell who, according to longtime political activist, Ned Ryun, was a primary source of the anti-Roy Moore stories that are now attempting to sway the upcoming Alabama special election and help clear the path for a Trump impeachment attempt in 2018.“…I strongly suspect it’s a very short list of people, all who are associated with Mitch McConnell – whether it’s Josh Holmes, whether it’s Karl Rove, might even be Steven Law – I don’t

The 57-year-old claimed she´s on Interpol’s list and is being shunned by Hollywood. “I just want you guys to know that I am fully in the middle of a blacklist, like I’m in the middle of a Hollywood blacklist. It is real. I’m not booked on any

While editing ‘Vanity Fair’ in the ’80s and ’90s, Daily Beast founder Tina Brown confided some of her best dish to her now published diary, including this gem about Jackie Kennedy. Thursday, July 6, 1989 Quogue- I love how New York changes so completely in the summer. It’s my favorite time of year here, sitting at my wooden desk before the open window with the cool sea breeze. The August issue arrived by FedEx. The Jackie O cover story, and Michael Milken’s rise and fall by Marie, is a much more commercial combo than July. To generate some summer heat I assigned Ed Klein to do Jackie to mark her sixtieth birthday. I asked him because he was always going on about how she liked him when he edited The New York Times Magazine.

WASHINGTON — Maine Sen. Susan Collins went further Sunday than most of her Republican colleagues in expressing worry about the sexual assault allegations against President Donald Trump, saying they were one of the reasons she did not vote for him.“Those allegations remain very disturbing,” Collins said in an interview on ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos.” She added that she did not support Trump in the 2016 campaign in part because of news reports about women accusing him of unwanted touching or kissing.
Brooklyn College is kowtowing to cop-hating students by directing officers who need a bathroom break to the broken-down facilities in a building on the far edge of campus. Amid a planned petition drive to ban cops from the taxpayer-funded campus, Donald Wenz, the school’s director of public safety, told the student newspaper The Excelsior that he’s trying to keep New York’s Finest out of sight. While Wenz said all of the school’s restrooms were technically open to cops, the college prefers they stick to those in the isolated West End Building, “rather than walking across either quad to use the
In the longstanding liberal narrative about Bill Clinton and his scandals, the one pushed by Clinton courtiers and ratified in media coverage of his post-presidency, our 42nd president was only guilty of being a horndog, his affairs were nobody’s business but his family’s, and oral sex with Monica Lewinsky was a small thing that should never have put his presidency in peril. That narrative could not survive the current wave of outrage over male sexual misconduct. So now a new one may be forming for the age of Harvey Weinstein and Donald Trump. In this story, Kenneth Starr and the
A spokesperson for Sen. Al Franken, a Democrat from Minnesota, told the Minneapolis Star Tribune that ´no´ the embattled senator would not resign. ´He is spending time with his family in Washington, D.C., and will be through the Thanksgiving holiday,´ the aide told the newspaper. ´And he´s doing a lot of reflecting.´ On Thursday, Franken became the latest high-profile man whose career is now in jeopardy over bad behavior with a woman. Radio host Leeann Tweeden said in 2006, when performing alongside Franken at a traveling USO tour, the then-comedian grabbed her breasts without her permission when Tweeden was sleeping and kissed
