A day before Donald Trump arrived in Beijing for crucial talks, China arrested 3 prominent African-American athletes. It would be awful if this became a racial issue today back home. A new element could be introduced into the deal-making at the heart of presidential mission to East Asia, and these youths have a following. They all have head shots from UCLA (snip) If the Chinese wish to use this incident for bargaining leverage (and why wouldn’t they?), they could exchange lenient treatment of the matter, as an “administration violation,” which sounds non-criminal. But either way, the 3 men can be
Way to go, boys! 3 to 10 for stealing a bunch of ugly crap. How stupid do you have to be?
As for the school, don´t they teach them "You´re in a foreign country, nobody there cares how popular or important you are at home"? Seems like every year, this happens with some college football team or other, when they go to a bowl game.
Did you look at their photos? Can you imagine the attention they attracted in China? (In my case, it was blue eyes - many had never seen a blue-eyed person) They had to be on everyone’s radar from the moment they entered the store.
Don’t know what they’re like, but Ball’s father thinks he is a god so I imagine he’s instilled that in his kids as well. An obnoxious self- and son-promoter. His kids are his pots of gold.
This should have no affect on President Trump’s state visit to China. Can’t say it won’t here, though, as this kind of thing can cause riots in a nanosecond.
Good point, Poster 8. According to the UCLA roster, LiAngelo Ball is 6´5". The other two are listed as 6´10". All three are handsome. Clearly they have presence everywhere they go, especially in a country where the average male height is less than 5´6".
FTA: "They weren´t messing around," the source told ESPN. "The kids were scared."
The "fake" source must have been one of the American "adults" (coaches) with these thugs. Calling them "kids" is an affront to the Chinese people who live under their repressive system and "know" better than to act out this foolishly. To even consider them for release before they have been tried would be wrong.
The girls in the article below all got up to 1 year in prison, only because they were underage.
"5 Teenage Girls Sentenced to Prison for Bullying and Posting Campus Violence Videos Online" (11/04/17)
Were these snowflakes kneeling during the national anthem? Sounds like arrogant athletes again expressing their black privilege. Let them ride out the waiting period. Do not compromise our trade position for these idiots
I wonder how you translate Dindu Nuffin or "he was such a good boy" into Mandarin? Stupid is forever seems to translate to ??????. Five years of hard labor will do wonders for their conditioning, however
#7 is right, 0bama never lifted a finger to get a normal American citizen released by any regime in the world. He saved his efforts for the Bowe Bergdahls and other traitors, exchanging the finest jihadi´s to get a guy like that back.
I guess they didn´t read about the young college student arrested in North Korea for what would be a stupid college prank in America.
He was returned home brain dead after being severely tortured.
If you´re in another country, abide by their laws. Period. No justice system in the world is as liberal and fair as the US system. Maybe the NFL protesters should pay attention to what real injustice looks like.
Before PDJT agrees to intervene, he should require that the NBA issue a lifetime ban from basketball for Eraserhead, Sideshow Bob and the other guy. If the average Chinese man is 5´6", they will be unstoppable on the prison team.
There are few places left in the world that you can go into a store, steal items, and then just figure that when you are caught there would not be consequences. In the modern world it might mean a jail term, in the Middle East they could chop off your fingers or hand, and in some primitive countries you could be dead. In China a repeat thief could end up morphing into an organ donor. Those UCLA basketball players have to be pretty dumb as anyplace in China they would by their appearance stand out bigtime will all eyes aimed at them.
There is no reason for President Trump to get involved in this matter that involves three petty thieves, as the President’s mission is to ultimately stop the Kim Dynasty in North Korea from gaining the capability of firing a nuclear weapon into America and killing hundreds of thousands of innocent Americans that is much more important.
"If those boys were white..." They would not have been that stupid.
I am sick of entitled, cocky black thugs being given a pass on everything they do simply because of their color. They risked their entire education and career on a stupid stunt in a foreign country. Let them rot over there, they deserve it. I can´t wait for the howling from the usual suspects to begin.
Keep ´em! They are no bargaining chips! The rest of the NFL scored over 900 arrests, why should these 3 be different? Just don´t send them back.....if you want to, in about 20 years or so after they did some ´labor´ for you!
"I think the University of California needs to examine what travel orientation or training, if any, was given to these kids being sent into an intense and alien culture."
First off, these "kids" are generally kept in a bubble surrounding their events. They were hardly exposed to "an intense and alien culture" - a Louis Vuitton shop next to the hotel? Stealing is stealing, isn´t it?
In my experience, the Chinese are kindly folk. On my visits there I have often been approached for photos by adults and kids alike, and always very politely. (Yes, I am significantly larger than the average Chinese.) I have never felt threatened there by anyone staring at me. I certainly have never felt the urge to steal as a result.
I suspect the situation will be fixed by the Chinese sponsors of UCLA´s basketball adventure. Money talks, and this is not a low budget deal. The Chinese, big NBA basketball fans, don´t need the hassle, either. A substantial "fine", sincere apology, and out of the country ASAP...all a misunderstanding. Poor kid thought it was a "gift" he took. So sorry.
PDT needs to stay out of it and let the Chinese enforce their own laws. 10 years in a Chinese prison with no computers, no fitness center, no American food might teach them a thing or two about gratitude and some appreciation of their country.
Having looked at their photos I can only imagine what the Chinese people must have thought of them. Aliens? Circus freaks? Animals from a Japanese monster movie?
A public caning with bamboo canes then 3 years in prison. This is not a bargaining chip for Trump. They are black thugs that acted badly. Kids? My eye bold black thugs that the Chinese profiled like they didn´t stand out or anything. ABM Asian Businesses Matter get that through you thick skulls stupid bozos.
I don´t want anyone to be subjected to the tortures of any totalitarian regime.
It wasn´t that long ago that the beaten, abused body of Otto Warmbier, barely alive... not really alive... was returned to the USA. He had stolen a poster from a wall (wondering, though, why on earth did he accept the invitation from some commie youth league to visit NORK-land).
If they did steal things, they ought to go through some sort of "legal" process. Remember the American teenager who ended up getting caned in Indonesia?
Maybe the Chinese could teach these young men some lessons about the rest of the world, where they´d never have to stand for the National Anthem again.
Kudos to the Riverside County (California) District Attorney’s Office for bringing justice to a crime committed in the name of politics. Prosecutors have limited resources and a lot of crimes to prioritize. But political crime is a serious matter today. And the incident leading to the charges has already had tremendous visibility on conservative media (if not the MSM-yet) and in social media, thanks to YouTube. A Cause célèbre may be brewing, and that’s a good thing. (snip) By stealing the hat directly off the person of her victim, Macias opened the door to serious charges. There was talk of
Savor the irony, folks. It just doesn’t get much better than this. Except that with all the media figures accustomed to pontificating on air now exposed as harassers themselves, and with all those video recordings archived in the vaults of broadcasters and YouTube, there surely will be more gems like the short video embedded below coming along. Charlies Rose, after all, has been in the business of condescending to us for decades. Virtue signaling has never been more dangerous than when applied to the sexual behavior of others. Add in the magic of video tape, and you have what must be called SchadenfreudeFest 2017.
Now that the FBI’s informant on the Uranium One deal has been outed and the nondisclosure agreement formerly muzzling him abrogated, it is possible to see the outlines of the devastating case to be made against not just Hillary Clinton, but the entire Obama administration. (snip) The Russian plot to “control global energy resources” was reported by Campbell to the FBI a year prior to approval of the acquisition. There is every reason to expect – and the proof would be available to congressional investigators or (cough) a special counsel or US attorney – that this information was passed up
If white people had their own publication, it would be Wired magazine. From top to bottom, this is a uniquely Caucasian experience (snip) Of the 80 people pictured on the masthead of Wired, only two are black. That is why I was a bit surprised to see Wired magazine recently appoint itself as the arbiter of all things black. Even more surprised at the white writer taking the point position in this crusade on behalf of her absent black brothas and sistahs. And finally even more surprised at the target of all this elevated racial consciousness: Me. The occasion was earlier this month,
Hillary Clinton is not complex, not at all. For her legion of personal problems -- her tone-deaf woodenness, her arrogance, her greed, her worst problem has been her Democratic Party Privilege. Yep, that’s the fatal flaw. It’s really her biggest problem. She’s been coddled because of her party affiliation. She’s been coddled by a media that refused to report her ugly side. She’s been coddled by a base that has been fooled repeatedly. She’s convinced them she’s highly moral, highly intelligent, highly principled, and somehow represents all women, minorities, and the average American. Nothing could be further from the truth.
If you´re not familiar with the term "Perfumed Prince," take a look at Air Force LTG Jay Silveria, Commander of the Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs. Silveria achieved the national spotlight by chewing out the entire class over racial slurs posted on five cadets´ quarters. Months later, it turned out that one of the targets was actually the perpetrator. (snip) Colonel David Hackworth coined the term "Perfumed Princes" to describe the leaders who sidestepped the Vietnam disaster and infested the senior ranks, playing the academic or business manager while they squeezed out soldiers on the soggy end. But Silveria´s rant went
Media Matters for America (MMFA), the far-left advocacy group that targets conservative media and talk show hosts, was assisted in its efforts to get Fox News host Sean Hannity fired during a show on CNN on Sunday. In a new low point for the Cable News Network, CNN Reliable Sources’ host Brian Stelter welcomed MMFA president Angelo Carusone for a live, in-studio, softball interview on why Hannity should be forced to go. Stelter is no friend of Hannity, who has the #1 talk show on cable news. (snip) It was advertisers deserting O’Reilly’s show that cost him his job. Carusone is
Friendship is a beautiful thing, and it´s really good to know that Robert Mueller, Comey, Brennan, and Clapper have known each other for many years. They´re loyal friends. Mueller is a former top FBI dude, who helped to clear Bill Clinton after that impeachment mess, and like Mr. Comey, he did his very best. Clapper was the single most powerful man in the "intelligence" "community," a centralized directorate (as the Soviets used to call it), which was George W. Bush´s principal response to 9/11/01. Now don´t get me wrong: I´m sure all these brave men (or persons, I should say) made great
The irony. So rich it could give you gout. At a fundraiser on September 9, 2016, Hillary Clinton made a soul-baring gaffe. With uncharacteristic candor, she stated that half of all Trump supporters are a "basket of deplorables," that they´re "irredeemable," as well as "racist, sexist homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic – you name it." Naturally, with her epic lack of self-awareness (see What Happened book tour, 2017) and a blind spot about herself that rivals a covered wagon´s, she said this adjacent to a banner pimping her slogan, "Stronger Together." Because Hillary Clinton is all about the unifying. I checked. Page 1 of How to
That sinking feeling Al Franken is experiencing is the realization that his career is now a pawn in the fanatical efforts of Democrats to get President Trump out of office. The Democrats would not lose his seat, since Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton can be expected to appoint a Democrat to serve out his term. Franken is not well liked for reasons that should be self-evident: he is as big a jerk in regular life as the infamous picture of him and Ms. Tweeden on the C17 would seem to indicate. The logical steps for getting Trump are clear: Step one, establish
Budding Hollywood actresses do not have to rely on semi-naked fat dudes in expensive hotels for acting tips. Not anymore. Real-life examples of real-life emotions such as despair, abandonment, anguish, and betrayal are easy to find if you know where to look – e.g., local stories of black-on-white violence. Let´s start with some backstory in Chicago. During last year´s election for the Chicago version of district attorney, Kim Foxx was not hiding anything. With loads of cash from George Soros and lots of support from Black Lives Matter, she bragged about how, under her watch, she was going to stop over-policing, halt
It is worth noting that when he went overseas as a USO performer accompanied by Leann Tweeden in December 2006, Al Franken was not professionally identified as a “comedian” – as virtually every current media account has branded him. He was preparing for a run for political office by conducting the flagship program for Air America, the vanguard of the Left’s plan to deprive conservatives of their talk radio dominance. Am I the only person who remembers what a huge and embarrassing fiasco that was? It is not surprising that the mainstream media have consigned it to the memory hole,
Malia Obama appears to be settling in just fine at Harvard. On Saturday, former President Obama´s eldest daughter was caught making out with a handsome fellow Crimson fan at the annual Harvard-Yale game. Yale hosted this year´s face off, which saw Harvard students decamping down to New Haven to tailgate at their rival´s campus before the game. The 19-year-old former first daughter, who took a gap year before starting at Harvard this fall, was seen locking lips with a mystery man at the festivities outside of the Yale Bowl. Video shows the moment Malia reached up and put her arms
Kathy Griffin is back with another unhinged rant, blaming Hollywood, Trump and Fox News for her complete career self-decapitation.Griffin saw both her comedic and television hosting career go into free fall after posing with a picture of President Trump’s severed head. Griffin was subsequently fired by CNN and had several gigs canceled in the toxic political fallout from the stunt. Now, Griffin is asking for sympathy for being poor from an austere hotel room in Europe in the middle of her world tour.In a raw video posted to her YouTube page, Griffin complains that Hollywood does not want her anymore and
Imagine: even the New York Times’ Ross Douthat now thinks that Bill Clinton should have stepped down over the Monica Lewinsky affair. Douthat’s mea culpa op-ed in this past weekend’s paper, in which he confesses that he and others may have been wrong to dismiss Bill Clinton’s indefensible behavior, will serve as the official political obituary for Clinton, Inc. Hillary Clinton is done, finished, kaput. Dogged by scandals old and new, out of step politically, her excess baggage has morphed into an entire baggage train, dragging her towards political oblivion. While it is refreshing to consider the landscape unadorned by Clintons,
ALBANY — Fox News host and TV judge Jeanine Pirro is heading to court herself after being ticketed for excessive speeding Sunday in upstate New York. State Police say Pirro was clocked driving 119 mph in a 65 mph zone when she was stopped by a trooper at about 1:15 p.m. Sunday afternoon in the Town of Nichols in Tioga County. A police source said she was driving a Cadillac. In a statement released by Fox News, Pirro said she was racing to see her sick mother in Elmira. “I had been driving for hours to visit my ailing 89-year-old
A federal judge on Monday permanently blocked President Trump’s executive order to cut funding from so called “sanctuary cities.” Trump’s order would have removed some federal funds from cities that limit their cooperation with U.S. immigration authorities. U.S. District Court Judge William Orrick rejected the Trump administration’s argument that the measure only applies to a relatively small pool of money. Orrick also said that Trump cannot set fresh conditions on spending that Congress has previously approved. Monday’s ruling came in lawsuits brought by two California counties, Santa Clara and San Francisco.
Over the last few days, I’ve had a number of conversations with both right- and left-leaning friends about the political futures of Al Franken and Roy Moore. Without equating the severity of the alleged offenses (Moore’s are obviously worse), I’ve been struck by the extent to which people across the political spectrum will tolerate misconduct in politicians that they’d never, ever tolerate in their own workplaces. In most functioning corporations, if there’s pictorial evidence that a senior executive groped a woman, then that executive is forced to resign. If there are known, credible allegations that an applicant for a senior
Dozens of teachers have quit their jobs in Pennsylvania´s capital city amid a wave of violence from students as early as the first grade, it has emerged. The Harrisburg Education Association (HEA) said that at least 45 teachers resigned between July and October, and more have followed since. Those who remain are now demanding more help from administrators. ´I have been kicked, punched, hit, scratched. I´ve had a student physically restraining me in front of my other students,´ first-grade teacher Amanda Shaeffer told board members, according to Penn Live. She added that ´many of the personal things that I have
Rep. John Conyers, newly facing sexual misconduct charges from former aides, was praised by fellow Rep. Maxine Waters just last month as a champion of women. During an address to organizers of the national Women’s March in which she lashed out at “rape culture” and President Trump, she singled out the Michigan lawmaker for special attention. (Snip) “He is quiet, he is confident, he is powerful, but he has impeccable integrity on all of our issues. Give John Conyers a big round of applause.” C-SPAN captured her comments and those of others who spoke at the event. In her address she
A second federal judge has halted the Trump administration’s proposed transgender military ban, finding that active-duty service members are “already suffering harmful consequences” because of the president’s policy. The ruling Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Marvin J. Garbis in a Maryland case comes just weeks after another judge in Washington blocked the administration’s proposal that would have stopped military recruitment of transgender men and women and possibly forced the dismissal of current service members, starting in March. The preliminary injunction issued by the judge in Baltimore on Tuesday goes further than the
Michigan Rep. John Conyers, a Democrat and the longest-serving member of the House of Representatives, settled a wrongful dismissal complaint in 2015 with a former employee who alleged she was fired because she would not “succumb to [his] sexual advances.”Documents from the complaint obtained by BuzzFeed News include four signed affidavits, three of which are notarized, from former staff members who allege that Conyers, the ranking Democrat on the powerful House Judiciary Committee, repeatedly made sexual advances to female staff that included requests for sexual favors, contacting and transporting other women with whom they believed Conyers was having affairs, caressing
If it is possible for a man, as he´s being hauled in front of a judge for his arraignment, to somehow still project an air of haughty superiority, well, that man would look like Rene Boucher did as he appeared in court just over a week ago. A retired anesthesiologist, Boucher—who stands accused of a bizarre beating earlier this month that left his neighbor, the Kentucky senator Rand Paul, with six broken ribs—strode into the jammed courtroom wearing a well-pressed blue suit. His back was ramrod straight, his head was held high, his nose not quite in the air. Seven other
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — Former U.S. President Bill Clinton visited Puerto Rico on Monday and met with those left homeless after Hurricane Maria hit the U.S. territory as a Category 4 storm. Clinton arrived with medical supplies and solar energy equipment donated by the Clinton Foundation, which has already shipped 76 tons of medicine and medical equipment since the storm hit on Sept. 20. Clinton also visited health clinics and the island’s largest shelter with Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rossello. He planned to meet with San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz and other officials later Monday. Rossello said Clinton’s visit will help
