Kaspersky: We uploaded classified US
documents but quickly deleted them

PARIS (AP) — Sometime in 2014, a group of analysts walked into the office of Eugene Kaspersky, the ebullient founder of Russian cybersecurity firm Kaspersky Lab, to deliver some sobering news. Kaspersky’s anti-virus software had automatically scraped powerful digital surveillance tools off a computer in the United States and the analysts were worried: The data’s headers clearly identified the files as classified. “They immediately came to my office,” Kaspersky recalled, “and they told me that they have a problem.” He said there was no hesitation about what to do with the cache.

Comments:
Wonder whose computer the classified information came from.

The summer I was 14, I was visiting my cousin. One of her friends said "Come on over, I´ve got the greatest new record!". It was a 45, of course, and it was "Ain´t That a Shame", Fats Domino. None of us had ever heard of him. We played that little record over and over and over, bopping our hearts out.

I´m so very sorry he is gone.

So, what I really want to know is what happened to the NSA worker that took the files home.

I used Kaspersky and an anti-virus program for a year, the terms of the license. I thought it slowed my computer down. Maybe, I am narrow minded, but using Russian software no longer appeals to me. I didn´t know they were Russian when I bought it. Costco highly recommended it. Just like China, if they mad any software, I´d never buy it.

Ok this is going to take me a little work to sort out what I just read. An NSA worker brought classified documents home to do “work” on his/her home PC which was running a pirated operating system with Russian antivirus software. Did I read that?

Wait....what’s that I smell, did I catch a sent of BS? Sounds to me more like a setup for plausible deniability for a spy to feed information to the Ruskies.

Just like when they tried to get us to believe Hillary’s lack of tech acumen led to her criminal acts. You mean clean it with a cloth?

I have heard that nothing is ever really deleted, and we are not told whether the information was copied. In any case, the virus software was used to capture classified information and it ended up in Russia. The cynics of this world, myself, expected this result from the start.

Once the classified information was passed on to Russian intelligence, this company would have no reason to keep it on their servers, when it came to that of course the company would delete the “cache”.

African immigrants are more educated than

Lots of the news from sub-Saharan Africa is about war, famine, poverty or political upheaval. So it’s understandable if many Americans think most Africans who immigrate to the United States are poorly educated and desperate. Research tells another story. While many are refugees, large numbers are beneficiaries of the diversity-visa program aimed at boosting immigration from underrepresented nations. And on average, African immigrants are better educated than people born in the U.S. or the immigrant population as a whole.

13 Days in July:

WASHINGTON (AP) — They were the 13 days that transformed the White House. Even for an administration that spent most of 2017 throwing off headlines at a dizzying pace, events in the second half of July unfolded at breakneck speed. They encapsulated both the promise and peril of President Donald Trump’s first year in office — and yielded aftershocks that reverberate within the White House even as the calendar turns to 2018. The two-week span laid bare the splintering of Trump’s relationships with two influential Cabinet members, foreshadowed the reach of the Russia probe into the interior of his orbit;

The minuscule Galilean town in which Joseph and Mary spent their lives and raised their son Jesus was, quite literally, a joke. “Can anything good come from Nazareth?” asked one disciple, when he heard where the Messiah was from. Some scholars posit that this was a popular saying in the first century. In any event, Nazareth was on the fringes of the Roman Empire. Roman roads avoided it until the second century. Jesus came from a backwater of a backwater; he and his mother and father, the figures at the heart of the Christmas story, were most likely considered throwaway

Kent Wash. - It was supposed to be a second chance at a new life. A three-strikes felon serving life in prison was released early. But, two years later, he and another man showed up to the Kent Regional Justice Center Monday to face murder charges. The alleged victim´s family was also there. The Cabrera family said it was a struggle to show up in court and come face-to-face with the two men suspected of killing their loved one, 24-year-old David Cabrera. “It was pretty hard. It was very difficult for whole family,” said Daniel Cabrera, the victim’s twin brother.

Putting people on a pedestal is risky. It’s too easy for them to fall off. Even so, I don’t think we can, or should, stop ourselves from looking for people to admire. We’re always finding out that someone who seemed wonderful wasn’t really all that we imagined. And lately there’s been a hailstorm of revelations about well-known and well-liked people, mostly men, who have behaved badly toward women and in some cases other men.

According to the 25-year-old Palomo, whose public appearance looks as if Dracula spent a weekend at Liberace´s house, gender fluidity is a way of life he hopes that future men can share. In an interview with AFP, Palomo likened his fashion revolution to the ones ushered by Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent in the 20th century. Microwaves are as damaging to the environment as cars and users must be taught how to cook more efficiently, scientists say. The ovens are responsible for 7.7 million tons of the carbon dioxide pumped out from the EU each year — the equivalent of 6.8 million cars. Researchers say they are fueling global warming with consumers overcooking food to blame. Microwaves account for the largest percentage of sales of all types of oven in the EU, with numbers set to reach 135 million by 2020.
