As workers nearly complete the first prototypes of President Trump’s border wall, next week the Department of Homeland Security will begin testing which designs best deter and prevent illegal immigrants from entering the U.S. U.S. Customs and Border Protection awarded eight contracts to six companies to build the prototypes. Four are made of reinforced concrete, the others involve alternate materials, mostly steel. Each model is 18 to 30 feet high and 30 feet long. Contractors have until Oct. 26 to complete their design before testing begins. All of the construction is taking place a few miles east of San Diego.Testing
FTA: One, the CBP is not proposing a 2,200-mile-all from San Diego, Calif, to Brownsville, Texas. That is not realistic, necessary or affordable.
Build some form of wall, whether physical or electronic, through the areas where it is feasible. A "big, beautiful 30 foot wall with beautiful doors" was never going to happen along most of the Texas border, however. The idea makes us feel more secure, but strongly enforced current deportation laws with additional border personnel reinforced by aerial surveillance will accomplish the job.
When Roy Moore, then 34 years old, asked 17-year-old Debbie Wesson Gibson if she would date him, Gibson asked her mother what she would think. According to The Washington Post’s investigation into Moore’s pursuit of teenage girls, which was published Thursday, Gibson’s mother replied, “I’d say you were the luckiest girl in the world.” That attitude of encouraging teenage girls to date older men, rather than shielding girls from men’s advances, sounded familiar to some people who read the Post story that has shaken Moore’s bid for the U.S. Senate. “It’s not so uncommon that people would necessarily look at it askance,” said
On Nov. 7, Bill “Tale of Two Cities” de Blasio—a Marxist bird/man hybrid who enjoyed trips to the Soviet Union as a student, worked for Nicaragua’s brutal communist Sandinista regime, and illegally honeymooned in Cuba—won 66 percent of the vote in the president’s hometown, defeating Republican candidate Nicole Malliotakis (28 percent) and Independent candidate Bo Dietl (1 percent) to become the first Democratic mayor to be reelected for a second term in New York City since Ed Koch in 1985. In an alternate universe, little things like ignoring a top imam’s warnings not to disband the city’s post-9/11 religion-of-peace surveillance program
President Trump returned from one of the longest and most successful overseas trips by a president since President Reagan returned from Reykjavik without giving Gorbachev a treaty in 1986. So what dominated the Sunday morning talk shows on "national news" outlets? Judge Roy Moore. (Snip)CONWAY: Well, the one thing I will say is that the president also is not as focused on this as he is his major 13-day trip abroad. And so he made a statement. He´s sticking by that statement. But he´s not being briefed on this bit by bit because he is very focused new trade agreements.
Secretary of State Rex Tillerson´s draining of the State Department -- aka Foggy Bottom -- just kicked into high gear. The government will offer 641 workers up to $25,000 each just to leave. Overall he wants to pare the payroll by 1,982 people, or 8% of the workforce, according to United Press International. All the right people are complaining: Richard Haass, president of the Council on Foreign Relations, said the staff and spending cuts were "misguided given [the] need for diplomacy and Trump administration´s acute lack of experience.”(Snip) Lack of experience? Tillerson has cut oil deals all over the world.
The headteacher of exclusive all-boys Eton College, formerly attended by Princes William and Harry, said he is preparing his pupils to be more “gender intelligent” and that pupils who wish to ‘transition gender’ are welcome to stay. Speaking to left-wing newspaper The Guardian, Simon Henderson said: “I’m very keen that we are very aware that as an all-boys school there’s a responsibility for young men to be gender-intelligent.” “Unlike many other schools, Eton has not yet been required to accommodate a transgender pupil,” Henderson said. “We have not been faced with that particular situation. Conceivably they would stay if it was felt
Drudge Report founder Matt Drudge, who knows of what he speaks, dropped a bomb Thursday with the newsy prediction that CNN chief Jeff Zucker is doomed. “Jeff Zucker out either way at CNN,” Drudge wrote before adding, “primetime ratings abysmal. Feud with President Trump too personal and ridiculous…” (Snip)My reference to “last place” is not a specious one. Until CNN turned into a 24/7 RedBaitingAntiTrumpFakeNewsHateMachine, the left-wing network was in second place, beating MSNBC much more often than not. So not only has CNN lost more than half of its year-over-year viewers, it has lost its bragging rights over its
The National Security Agency, the US´s largest and most secretive intelligence agency, has been hacked, robbed, mocked, and deeply infiltrated by anonymous hackers, as detailed in a New York Times exposé published Sunday. Essentially, the NSA, which compiles massive troves of data on US citizens and organizes cyberoffensives against the US´s enemies, was deeply compromised by a group known as the Shadow Brokers, which has made headlines in the past year in connection to fallout from the breach. The group now posts cryptic, mocking messages pointed toward the NSA as it sells the cyberweapons, created at huge cost to US taxpayers, to
WASHINGTON — Jake Williams awoke last April in an Orlando, Fla., hotel where he was leading a training session. Checking Twitter, Mr. Williams, a cybersecurity expert, was dismayed to discover that he had been thrust into the middle of one of the worst security debacles ever to befall American intelligence. Mr. Williams had written on his company blog about the Shadow Brokers, a mysterious group that had somehow obtained many of the hacking tools the United States used to spy on other countries. Now the group had replied in an angry screed on Twitter. It identified him — correctly — as
CAIRO - Saudi Arabia has called for an urgent meeting of Arab League foreign ministers in Cairo next week to discuss Iran’s intervention in the region, an official league source told Egypt’s MENA state news agency on Sunday. The call came after the resignation of Lebanon’s prime minister pushed Beirut back into the center of a rivalry between Sunni kingdom Saudi Arabia and Shi‘ite Iran and heightened regional tensions.
In the flight between Da Nang (APEC Summit) and Hanoi, Vietnam, for the official U.S. State visit, President Trump took questions from the traveling press pool and held an impromptu presser aboard Air-Force-One.[TRANSCRIPT] PRESIDENT TRUMP: Everybody okay? Everybody happy? Everybody healthy? Two more days — no problem. It’s been a — I think it’s been a great trip. In certain ways, it’s been very epic. I think things have happened that have been really amazing. Prime Minister Abe came up to me just at the end, and he said that since you left South Korea and Japan, that those two countries

On the anniversary of Donald Trump´s victory, many conservatives were delighted watching the outrageous video meltdowns of the leftwing media. They should be afraid rather than amused. The anger and disappointment over Hillary Clinton´s 2016 loss is not only unprecedented, it´s inexplicable. These are supposedly intelligent, educated professionals and yet their anguish has in some cases turned to unbridled hatred towards the voters who dared to think for themselves. We have been labeled deplorable, moronic, racists and despicable even though these so-called failed political prognosticators have no idea who we really are.
Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham (S.C.) said on Friday that if the allegations against Alabama candidate for U.S. Senate Roy Moore are true, he should step aside, and “should be dealt with severely.” But Graham not only hasn’t called for Democrat Sen. Bob Menendez (N.J.), accused of having sex with underage prostitutes, to step aside — he also went to New Jersey on his own dime two weeks ago to testify as a character witness in Menendez’s corruption trial, telling the judge that Menendez is “very honest” and “honorable.” The Washington Post published a story on Thursday quoting a woman named
Who’s afraid of the Clintons? Not Donna Brazile. The explosive book by the former head of the Democratic National Committee is rocking the political world with its tales of Hillary Clinton’s brazen corruption and tawdry deceits. To add extra punch to her insider’s account, Brazile is telling interviewers that Clinton’s 2016 campaign was “sterile” and a “cult,” and mocking it as sexless and joyless. She even writes that she considered trying to replace Clinton as the nominee over health concerns after the candidate collapsed at the 9/11 anniversary ceremony, a fact that demolishes the myth that suspicions about Clinton’s
“If these allegations are true,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said Thursday, “he must step aside.” That was the typical Republican reaction to the accusation that Roy Moore, Alabama´s GOP nominee for the Senate, sexually accosted a 14-year-old girl when he was a local prosecutor decades ago. This is the most reasonable position. A child sex predator does not belong in the Senate and certainly does not deserve the support of the Republican Party. Second, there’s got to be some presumption of innocence. Whether the accusation is of sexual assault, public corruption, or anything else, an accusation is not proof
The UCLA basketball players arrested for allegedly shoplifting a pair of sunglasses in a Louis Vuitton store in Hangzhou, China have been left behind to face the tender mercies of Chinese justice. (snip) What Chinese justice deserves, and should demand in return for letting off the students with a warning, is a public formal apology from the head of the University of California for failing to prepare the students for their responsibility as representatives of a world-famous university. That would be Janet Napolitano. In the old days before the Chinese Revolution, such an apology would involve the penitent individual kneeling on
Texas woman Roslyn Corrigan claims that former President George H.W. Bush groped her when she was just 16 years old. According to Corrigan, the groping occurred in November of 2003 at an event in The Woodlands, Texas. This is the sixth woman to publicly accuse the 41st president of grabbing her butt without consent. Speaking to Time magazine, Corrigan, who is now in her early 30s, said, “My initial action was absolute horror. I was really, really confused. The first thing I did was look at my mom and, while he was still standing there, I didn’t say anything,” she
Pope Francis is blasting “shortsighted human activity” for global warming and rising sea levels and is urging leaders at climate talks in Germany to take a global outlook as they negotiate ways to curb heat-trapping emissions. Francis met Saturday with a delegation of leaders from the Pacific islands and told them he shares their concerns about rising sea levels and increasingly intense storms that are threatening their small islands. He decried in particular the state of oceans, where overfishing and pollution by plastics are threatening fish stocks and sea life that are critical to Pacific livelihoods. He said several causes
Former CIA Director John Brennan speculated Sunday that President Trump is “intimidated” or “afraid” of Russian president Vladimir Putin. In an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Brennan also dodged a question about whether he has seen evidence that the Russian government has compromising material on Trump. The existence of Russian “kompromat” on Trump has been the subject of intense debate ever since the publication of the infamous Steele dossier earlier this year. “I think Mr. Trump is, for whatever reason, either intimidated by Mr. Putin, or afraid of what he could do or what might come out as
A woman on Monday alleged that Roy Moore, the Republican nominee for Senate in Alabama sexually assaulted her when she was a minor. Beverly Young Nelson said Moore groped her and tried to force her to perform oral sex when she was 16 and she worked at a restaurant that Moore frequented. In a statement, Nelson said that Moore attacked her in his car after offering her a ride home. According to Nelson, instead of driving her home, Moore parked in a lot behind the restaurant. "Mr. Moore began groping me, putting his hands on my breasts. I tried fighting him off, while yelling
Sponsors of Sean Hanity´s Fox News program are pulling their ads from the prime time commentator´s show following his coverage of the sexual misconduct allegations against Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore. Keurig, Realtor.com, 23 and Me, Eloquii and Nature´s Bounty all said over the weekend that they would no longer run ads on Hannity´s show, prompting a backlash from protesters on social media. Moore is being accused of having pursued inappropriate sexual relationships with younger women while he was a district attorney in Alabama during the 1970s. The most troubling of allegations, according to The Washington Post which published the allegations in
Two years ago, as others in California were limiting cooperation with federal immigration agents, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department welcomed them into its jail. Sheriff Margaret Mims gave U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement unrestricted access to databases and private rooms to interview inmates. She reorganized release times so agents could easily pick up people who had served their sentences. The policy sparked outrage among immigrant rights groups, who called it a pipeline from incarceration to immigrant detention, one that they said disproportionately and unfairly affects Latinos. “We are not anti-immigrant for
A real estate investment firm owned by Bill Gates recently bought a giant plot of land in Arizona for $80 million to be developed into a “smart city.” Arizona-based Belmont Partners, one of Gates’ investment firms, purchased close to 25,000 acres of land in Tonopah, around 50 miles west of Phoenix, to create a “smart city” called Belmont, KPNX reported. “Belmont will create a forward-thinking community with a communication and infrastructure spine that embraces cutting-edge technology, designed around high-speed digital networks, data centers, new manufacturing technologies and distribution models, autonomous vehicles and autonomous logistics hubs,” Belmont Partners said in a
