Most College Students Clueless

Last week at Columbia University, conservative pundit Tommy Robinson attempted to give a speech on mass immigration in Europe. Instead, the event devolved into chaos. Students consistently shouted down Robinson, effectively preventing him from speaking as he Skyped into the campus auditorium from the United Kingdom. He gave up on trying to speak and instead fielded questions from protesters. “This is our free speech, this is our First Amendment right,” repeated some of the protesters as they shouted over Robinson. It was clear that many students had a warped understanding of the First Amendment. To be fair, an argument could be made that,

ZEPHYRHILLS — An experienced parachutist died Monday while practicing a skydiving technique called "tracking" at Skydive City, said general manager David "T.K." Hayes. The skydiver was identified as Kurt A. Tracy, 36, by Zephyrhills police on Tuesday. The incident took place around 4:30 p.m. Monday. Tracy’s parachute failed to open while jumping from 13,500 feet with a group, police said. He was taken to Zephyrhills Municipal Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. He had performed more than 250 jumps, police said. Tracy and the group of skydivers he was with were "tracking," or performing horizontal body movements while free-falling, according to a

Is there anything in the news more farcical than liberals and feminists saying it’s time for “a reckoning with Bill Clinton”? Clinton was credibly accused of severe sexual misconduct by several women. One of them, Juanita Broaddrick, alleged that Clinton raped her. Her claim was highly credibly, inasmuch as she complained contemporaneously to five people. Clinton also admitted, after brazenly lying about it, to having sex with Monica Lewinsky. The White House intern was barely out of her teens at the time. If Roy Moore, against whom no allegation of sexual misconduct has been conclusively established, is unfit to occupy one of

A pro-ISIS media group today circulated a poster depicting a vehicle moving toward the Vatican with a cache of weapons, vowing "Christmas blood." A recent poll found that fifty percent of millennials say they would rather live in a communist or socialist country than in a capitalist democracy. These numbers can’t be laughed off -- they should frighten you. Maybe they don’t know what communism means. I do. I lived in Communist Poland. Perhaps those fifty percent of millennials were not properly taught about communism in school. That’s too bad, and dangerous. So here are some examples for those misguided millennials to ponder, all of which I experienced in communist Poland. I wrote here, here, here (a video of a speech by me), here and here about the sad decline of the Edina, Minnesota public schools into hard-core leftism. Edina’s school district was once among the nation’s most respected, but its administrators have been content to see the district slide down to second or third tier status, because their sole priority is “racial equity,” which is code for a long list of left-wing hobby horses. What happens when a public school district falls into the hands of race-obsessed leftists? For one thing, students think it’s cool to disrespect America’s veterans. Last Friday,

Some time ago, I was asked to review a vast biography of Bertolt Brecht, the German playwright and poet, by an admirer of his work. It is seldom that one reads hundreds of pages about someone without coming across a single instance of a decent, kind, or selfless act, but so it was with Brecht. He couldn’t even be bothered to wash for the convenience of others. The French fascist architect Charles-Édouard Jeanneret, better known as Le Corbusier, was another of this charmless ilk, though cleaner than Brecht (a Marxist, the latter’s decision not to wash was his tribute, albeit not

In assessing the reliability of the Washington Post´s allegations against Judge Roy Moore, it is fair to ask whether the Post or its reporters have any skin in the game. That is, will they suffer significantly if the story turns out to be false? The answer is "no." The story is a free shot. If it succeeds in destroying Moore, the Post will be rewarded by its inside-the-Beltway significant others of both parties. If the story goes down in flames, then those S.O.s, who understand perfectly that the Post is a partisan warrior, will write it off as a good try

The most tiresome cliché of the climatistas is that “97 percent of scientists ‘believe’ in human caused climate change,” though I am always grateful for how they used the term “believe,” since the whole matter has taken on the attributes of religious commitment, if not fanaticism in many cases. The backup for this refrain is exceedingly weak. One study purporting to establish the “97 percent” consensus figure, from John Cook of the University of Queensland in Australia, does no such thing, which is obvious from reading just the abstract. In the past few weeks, I´ve been a woman of split personalities. On a good day, I´m elated — empowered and inspired by the many women who have courageously opened the floodgates to help end the shroud of silence and shame that surrounds victims of sexual assault and harassment. Attorney General Jeff Sessions is said to be considering appointing a second special counsel to investigate issues related to former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, former FBI Director James Comey, and the Obama administration. Sessions´ contemplation comes after the House Judiciary Chairman urged him to look into Comey´s handling of the FBI´s investigation into Clinton´s email use, the 2010 Uranium One deal, and the Clinton Foundation. Trump has repeatedly called Sessions a "weak" attorney general and pushed him to investigate Clinton and the Democrats as the FBI investigates Trump and his campaign for possible collusion with Moscow during the 2016

Was a 14-year-old girl molested by Alabama Senate Republican candidate Roy Moore, or is she lying? It’s a yes-or-no question. Was a 16-year-old girl sexually assaulted by Moore, or is she lying? Again, it’s a yes-or-no question. Finally, do you believe that there are conditions under which a child molester should sit in the United States Senate? Again, this question is binary. Yet many conservatives seem to be seeking a third answer to all three of these questions, mostly to avoid giving straight answers. Let’s begin with the first question: Did Roy Moore molest a 14-year-old girl?

When the Washington Post filed its story against Roy Moore last week, we took a cautious line, agreeing with Republican lawmakers who said “if true,” these charges disqualify the GOP´s nominee in Alabama’s special election for the Senate. We pressed Republicans to extract more information from Moore. Since then, plenty more information has emerged. Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, after getting Moore’s side of the story last week, withdrew his endorsement of the former judge. A former boyfriend of the chief Washington Post subject, who says Moore fondled her as a 14-year-old after flirting with her outside a custody hearing, corroborated the story. A
