Oh My God: Wendy Davis
Might Run For Office Again

Townhall, by Matt Vespa

Original Article

Posted By:MissMolly, 10/13/2017 5:21:48 AM

If you really want to know how bad the Democratic bench is in terms of candidates and role models, just look at this Cosmopolitan piece about Wendy Davis and what she did after her devastating and catastrophic loss to Republican Greg Abbott—sorry, Gov. Abbott. She went to Costa Rica, drank margaritas with her family, but she said the loss hurt. At the same time, she goes on about how 2014 was not really an indicator concerning whether Texas was trending blue, and she lamented on how her filibuster of a late-term abortion bill allowed Republicans to label her “abortion Barbie.”

Comments:
The Cosmo piece is sheer sugary marshmallow, but if you can stand it, the link is included.

I´m an old man, so I may be out of touch with reality, but I don´t know any women who view Hillary as a role model.
As for Wendy, she abandoned her children from two marriages, leaving them with their fathers. Her second husband, an attorney, cashed in his retirement savings to put her through Harvard Law, and she then divorced him.
She is a horrible candidate, no matter the office she seeks.
This is one flawed, nasty female.

Sally Quinn, the well-known Washington journalist, has published a new memoir called Finding Magic. Even for those of us who have followed her nearly 50-year career with unflagging interest, it is full of news. Ingeniously, Quinn has outfitted the book with a literary device guaranteed to discourage bad reviews. Her fellow scribblers can only kick themselves for not thinking of it first. Quinn begins with a loving portrait of her childhood in Georgia, where the family servants schooled her in voodoo. Her mother was already initiated. When the local vet misdiagnosed the family dachshund, Quinn tells us, Mom lost her temper

For fark’s sake. The guy’s accused of rape, by more than one woman. What sort of behavior does she think “invited” that? Even his somewhat less egregious offenses are inexplicable in terms of an invitation. Does anyone think Lauren Sivan put out the vibe upon meeting famous Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein that she was hoping to watch him furtively whack it into a potted plant in a dark corner of an empty restaurant kitchen? The more aggressive harassment is, the harder it is to explain in terms of a misconstrued female “invitation.” Actual assault is plainly indefensible, yet here’s Eddie

A key informant in the Russian bribery and extortion scheme to gain control of US atomic resources wants to tell Congress what he knows — but is legally barred from doing so. That’s the latest bombshell to emerge from The Hill’s exposés this week that the Obama administration knew all about the scheme yet still OK’d a deal to give Moscow control of one-fifth of US uranium. Moreover, the unidentified informant tried to tell his story by filing a lawsuit during last year’s campaign — but was squelched by the Obama Justice Department. According to his lawyer, Reagan-era Justice official Victoria Toensing,

Leftist protesters interrupted a College Republicans meeting Sunday night in the library at the University of California, Santa Cruz, calling members “fascists,” “racists” and “white supremacists” during a lengthy demonstration that ended in three arrests. Though the College Republicans initially offered to speak to the protesters, those demonstrating refused to leave and demanded instead the Republicans end their meeting. One person in attendance, a Democrat, stood up, however, and defended his right-leaning fellow students. “I immediately stood up and confronted them,” Phil Leonard told Fox News. “I was the only one to stand up and confront them.” The school’s director

The tale of Harvey Weinstein is now a thread that has tangled its way through Hollywood, connecting women, mostly actresses, in a depressingly common way. We all seem to have a Harvey story, each one a little different but with essentially the same nauseating pattern and theme. Women were bullied, cajoled, manipulated, and worse, and then punished. My Harvey story is different, mostly because of timing. I was in one of the first films that Weinstein produced. I accepted a supporting role in a small movie based on “Loser Takes All,” the short novel by Graham Greene. I was twenty years

It is Day 15. That is, a full two weeks since an attack in Niger on a joint patrol of U.S. and Nigerian troops killed four Green Berets and injured two others — the first time U.S. troops have been killed as part of our counterterrorism mission there, where we have about 800 troops. And it was only on Day 13 that senators demanded more information about the attack. On Tuesday, the Senate Armed Services Committee said the Trump administration had not been forthcoming enough. Committee Chairman John McCain even said, “I had a better working relationship, as far as information back

Protests of the national anthem aren’t just happening in the NFL— Tampa Bay Lightning forward J.T. Brown raised his fist in the air during The Star Spangled Banner earlier this month, and also before a pre-season game in September against the Panthers. Brown was of course following in Colin Kaepernick’s footsteps, protesting police brutality and racial injustice in America. The move caught the attention of Tampa interim police Chief Brian Dugan, who invited Brown to the academy last week. To his surprise, Brown took him up on the offer only a few days later. The analysis by independent research group Police Executive Research Forum (PERF) lays bare the scale of the epidemic by analyzing the latest CDC figures. It breaks down the death tolls of the most devastating events in US history in the last 50 years, to show why addiction is the most deadly issue the country has ever faced. While the Vietnam war claimed 58,200 lives in 19 years and six months, opioids killed 64,070 Americans in 2016 alone. Experts warn last year´s

She travels from sound stage to sound stage, reminding the public that her 2016 loss was not her fault and the Russians who undid her once-promising political career are coming again. This newest reboot is remarkable if only for its extraordinary immodesty. Few have done so much to undermine the fortunes of their ostensible allies, but Hillary Clinton is not done yet. Therein lies the problem for the Clintons with the Harvey Weinstein sexual-harassment scandal: It hits perilously close to home. Not only was Mr. Weinstein a political ally and a major donor to the Clintons and the Clinton Foundation, but his alleged sexual misconduct has refocused attention on Mr. Clinton’s own checkered past as the tide turns against powerful men who take advantage of women. “The question is on everyone’s lips: how

Jimmy Kimmel deserves credit for frankness, if nothing else. In an interview over the weekend, the ABC late-night host said he doesn’t care about losing Republican viewers. We’re a long way from Johnny Carson, whose “Tonight Show” was a national institution that enjoyed a broad audience — and was conducted like one. Carson steered clear of politics and kept his views to himself because delving into divisive politics would “hurt me as an entertainer, which is what I am.” Kimmel may be an entertainer, but he has no such inhibitions. He is willing to say “not good riddance, but riddance,” as he

Former President George W. Bush offered an unmistakable denunciation of Trumpism Thursday without mentioning the president by name, urging citizens to oppose threats to American democracy. “Bigotry seems emboldened. Our politics seems more vulnerable to conspiracy theories and outright fabrication,” Bush warned in remarks at the Bush Institute’s Spirit of Liberty event in New York. By chance, Bush was standing in the same spot at the Time Warner Center where former President Barack Obama made a similar plea for democracy and American leadership in late September, shortly after President Donald Trump had finished a belligerent, isolationist speech to the United Nations

George W. Bush hinted Thursday at his dissatisfaction with Donald Trump, complaining in a New York City speech that ´bullying and prejudice´ has become a caustic norm in American public life. At an event hosted by the George W. Why would you ask something that dumb?” “My job as a United States senator — you mean I am somehow going to behave in a way that I’m going to block everything because of some personal disagreement?” McCain said incredulously.
