Caitlan Coleman family refuses return

The daring plan to bring home an American woman and her family from Afghanistan, where they were held captive by a Taliban-affiliated group, appeared to hit a snag Thursday, with officials telling Fox News the woman´s husband is refusing to board a plane out of the Middle East. Caitlan Coleman, 32, was seven months pregnant when she and her husband, Josh Boyle, were abducted in Afghanistan in 2012 by the Haqqani network. The couple and their three children -- all of whom were born in captivity -- were freed Thursday in a "negotiated release," an official told Fox News. The family has

There is something desperately wrong here. Josh Boyle seems to have made very poor decisions over a long period of time. I would not trust him. The wife, Caitlan, and her children should consider going home to her parents where they can be with some relatively normal people for a while. It sounds like her husband is still trying to sort out his allegiances. I am skeptical.

Compared with some before pictures, Josh and his wife have lost some serious weight. The kids look dirty and in need of a health checkup.
Caitlan should dump Josh now and come home - for the children. Josh may be beyond help.

First, how stupid is it for a woman 7 months pregnant, taking a backpacking vacation in a war zone?
Second, and even more important, how stupid is it for an infidel woman to marry a muslim?

She must have been desperate to marry this Canadian. They deserve each other! Don´t come back to the States! Canada or Afghanistan will keep them happy!

You know that there had to be a catch here, as what American couple, with the wife 7 months pregnant, goes wandering along in the primitive Afghanistan-Pakistan border region during a war?

Now we are told that the husband is actually a Canadian citizen, who was previously married to the sister of a man who was a member of an Afghan insurgent group that murdered a US soldier.

President Trump has got to be learning that there is something to the adage that “no good deed goes undone”. Luckily no US military members were killed or wounded getting that group released.

Democratic leaders aren’t going to shut down the government to save Dreamers in December. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi haven’t stopped fighting to deliver something on immigration by the end of the month. But they’ve subtly shifted their rhetoric in recent days and aren’t insisting that deportation relief be paired with a government funding bill this year. Top Democrats’ retreat from demands on a deal before 2018 ensures they won’t get blamed for a possible shutdown and won’t upend Senate talks on a bipartisan deal combining relief for Dreamers with border security. Those negotiations appear

Political elites on both sides of the Atlantic are still frothing over President Donald Trump’s retweeting of three videos recording Muslims acting badly. WASHINGTON — Senior F.B.I. officials who helped investigate Donald J. Trump’s presidential campaign last year wrote in text messages that Hillary Clinton “just has to win” and described a potential Trump victory as “terrifying,” according to texts released Tuesday night. A top counterintelligence agent, Peter Strzok, exchanged the messages with Lisa Page, a senior F.B.I. lawyer. Some messages criticized Mrs. Clinton’s team, the Obama administration, Congress and other Democrats. But the two appeared appalled at some of Mr. Trump’s comments during the campaign and feared that he would politicize the F.B.I. For example, after Mr. Trump made an apparent sexual allusion related

On Tuesday, Democrat Doug Jones pulled off a stunning victory over Republican Roy Moore in Alabama. The race went down to the wire, but the Democrat prevailed. Here are five things to know about why Jones won, why Moore lost, and what it means for the future of the U.S. Senate and both parties. 1. Character matters. According to NBC News exit polls, 49 percent of Alabama voters thought the sexual assault accusations against Roy Moore were "definitely" or "probably" true. Republicans and Democrats split on partisan lines — a whopping 82 percent of Republicans said the allegations were "probably" or "definitely" false,

"There´s a special place in hell for Republicans who should know better,” former senior White House adviser Steve Bannon said on the eve of Alabama´s U.S. Senate election, as he went all-in for embattled Republican candidate Roy Moore. The next day, voting results showed Democrat Doug Jones to be the victor in the deep-red state, making him the first non-Republican to win a U.S. Senate seat there in more than two decades -- although Moore has not conceded. If Jones´ victory stands, it would tarnish the supposed “kingmaker” status Bannon enjoyed since Moore triumphed in the Republican primary over an establishment-backed candidate.

Special prosecutors, investigators, and counsels are usually a bad idea. They are admissions that constitutionally mandated institutions don’t work — and can be rescued only by supposed superhuman moralists, who are without the innate biases inherent in human nature. The record from Lawrence Walsh to Ken Starr to Patrick Fitzgerald suggests otherwise. Originally narrow mandates inevitably expand — on the cynical theory that everyone has something embarrassing to hide. Promised “short” timelines and limited budgets are quickly forgotten. Prosecutors search for ever new crimes to justify the expense and public expectations of the special-counsel appointment. Soon the investigators need to

It’s a wonder that President Trump devotes so much time to discrediting the press, when the press does so much to discredit itself. The media’s errors over the last week haven’t been marginal or coincidental, but involved blockbuster reports on one of the most dominating stories of the last year — Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation. And they all slanted one way — namely, toward lurid conclusions about the Trump campaign’s alleged collusion with the Russians. Every media outlet makes mistakes.
