Trump has more than three years left

The truth can no longer be ignored: Donald Trump is dangerously unfit to be president and could lead the nation to unthinkable disaster. So what are we going to do about it? The White House “has become an adult day care center,” where the president’s senior aides spend “every single day .?.?. trying to contain him.” That terrifying bit of information was disclosed Sunday by Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), whose decision not to run for reelection has freed him to point out that the emperor is indeed naked. “Look, except for a few people, the vast

Corker is an idiot. He used to love Trump and campaigned heavily for him. Sadly he was passed over for VP and Sec of State and now Trump is going to deep six his wonderful deal with Iran and he’s mad and has resentments a mile high. He is a pathetic idiot and a short little drooling fool and a bufoon. What are we gong to do? Just keep winning baby and win bigly! Stick a cork in it Corker!

Reading whiny Eugene´s column reminded me of the lyrics to the 1974 song by Oscar Brown, Jr. (a take-off on an old Lone Ranger joke):

The Lone Ranger and Tonto
Were riding down the Navajo Trail
When a band of Indians found em
Proceeded to surround em and
The Lone Ranger turned kinda pale

Tonto, our lives are in danger
We got to get away if we can
Tonto just looked at Lone Ranger
What you mean, we, white man?

So, Eugene, those of us out here in fly-over country ask you - What you mean ´WE´? I don´t know what YOU are going to do, Eugene, but WE are going to keep winning! And smiling bigly!

All snark aside, Eugene Robinson has a very mediocre mind (I can´t use the word intellect, it would be inappropriate in his case). His columns remind me of several entries in a poetry anthology that I was assigned to read in college. Alongside the truly greats, T. S. Eliot, Gerard Manley Hopkins, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, and so forth, the editors had included some "poets of color" whose work was shockingly inadequate. The latter works stood out even to an unlearned freshman reader as simply not deserving to be in the book. No one had to tell me that this was pandering, affirmative action, whatever, at its very worst. It is the same with Eugene Robinson and not all, but a number of other minority columnists and op ed writers for large liberal newspapers. If blind submissions were required, their work would never be accepted for publication in any newspaper, much less a major one like the Washington Post. Robinson is an embarrassment to the news/opinion/writing profession.

The health of a nation’s economy and the health of its people are connected, but in some surprising ways. At times like these, when the economy is strong and unemployment is low, research has found that death rates rise. At least, in the short term. In the long term, economic growth is good for health. What’s going on? One study of European countries just before and during the Great Recession found that a one-percentage-point increase in the unemployment rate is associated with an 0.5 percent decline in the overall mortality rate. Colin Kaepernick has filed a grievance under the collective bargaining agreement for collusion against NFL team owners, reports Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report. Kaepernick has hired high-profile attorney Mark Geragos and is preparing to release a statement about his grievance soon, added Freeman. The free-agent quarterback has remained unemployed since his release by the San Francisco 49ers in March and has garnered little interest from teams around the league. This has caused some to suggest he´s being blackballed for his national anthem protests during the 2016 season. Kaepernick appeared in 12 games for 49ers in 2016, throwing for 2,241 yards with

A group of female veterans recently transformed into 1940s-style pinups, trading their Army fatigues and other military uniforms for beautiful dresses, high heels and makeup. And the glam session wasn´t just for fun — it was for a good cause. The women are featured in the 2018 Pin-Ups for Vets calendar, a fundraiser for military hospitals. Now some of the women and other volunteers are on a 50-state tour, visiting injured veterans at hospitals across the country, dressed in pinup-style costumes. "It´s amazing," Gina Elise, the organization´s founder, told TODAY Style, adding that when the veterans in the hospital realize

A worker at a Texas fast-food restaurant was fired after she refused to serve two police officers, the company said Saturday. In a lengthy post on the Denison Police Department´s Facebook page, Chief Jay Burch alleged the officers were cursed at by the employee and that the restaurant manager’s only response was “I don’t get into politics.” “If a business does not want police officers as customers, just let us know,” Burch wrote. “There’s no need to curse us and make a scene, just let us know you don’t want us there and we’ll go somewhere else.” He added, "Now going

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) blasted “half-baked, spurious nationalism” in the United States in an emotional speech Monday night after receiving the National Constitution Center’s Liberty Medal. “To fear the world we have organized and led for three-quarters of a century, to abandon the ideals we have advanced around the globe, to refuse the obligations of international leadership and our duty to remain ´the last best hope of earth´ for the sake of some half-baked, spurious nationalism cooked up by people who would rather find scapegoats than solve problems is as unpatriotic as an attachment to any other tired dogma of

Hillary Clinton slammed what she called "endemic" sexism and misogyny in America during an interview with Fareed Zakaria, which aired Sunday. Clinton, who was interviewed by Zakaria on his show, "GPS," said sexism was so inherent that she purposely hadn´t highlighted her career history of fighting for women´s rights when she ran for president in 2016. However, she admitted that with the benefit of hindsight, she "could have tried harder" to do so. "I´m a middle-class girl from the middle of the country, and so I always struggled with like, OK, so what´s my story. And it suddenly dawned on me that

Sure, it´s been more than 340 days since Donald Trump beat Hillary Clinton, but there´s still one very narrow, highly unlikely and entirely unprecedented way that Clinton could become president. And it has some Democratic die-hards dreaming again. Harvard University professor Lawrence Lessig offered a Clinton path to the presidency on Medium, putting forward a series of "if/then" scenarios that lead to House Speaker Paul Ryan handing the White House keys to Clinton. Here´s how constitutional law expert Lessig lays it out: If number 1: If Trump is definitively found to have colluded directly with Russia, he would be forced to resign or

New York activist Tamika Mallory says she was booted from an American Airlines flight in Miami after a pilot inserted himself into a dispute over her seat assignment. Mallory, a co-chair of the Women’s March on Washington, was traveling home to New York when the pilot followed her to scold her over an argument she had with a gate agent. He then had her summoned from her seat and kicked off the flight, she told the Daily News. “It definitely was white male aggression. I was singled out, I was disrespected, and he was trying to intimidate me. I was

Jane Fonda made it clear she is not proud of America. During a recent interview with the BBC, Fonda was asked, "Are you proud of America today?" The actress was very quick to reply with a hard "no." "But, I’m proud of the resistance," she elaborated. "I’m proud of the people who are turning out in unprecedented numbers and continue over and over and over again to protest what Trump is doing. I’m very proud of them, that core." During the same interview, the 79-year-old was asked if she had a "sense of regret" for her visit to North Vietnam in 1972. The

Hillary Clinton on Sunday defended NFL players who knelt during the national anthem, saying kneeling is a “reverent” position that is not against “our anthem or our flag.” The former Democratic presidential candidate, who was at the Southbank Centre´s London Literature Festival, urged Democrats to use the issue against President Trump. Clinton was embarking on a foreign trip to promote her book “What Happened.” She said people should resist “what are very clear dog-whistles” to the Trump base, pointing to the example of kneeling NFL players. “That´s what black athletes kneeling was all about,” she said in response to a question about ways to

If the NFL thought Americans would ease the backlash against the league — they were sadly mistaken. Photos of empty stadiums from around the league show how dire a situation kneelers have spurred. (Photo) Breitbart News reports: Note, that the Jets played New England on Sunday, meaning there should have been a big crowd for that game. The Texans, Atlanta, and Baltimore are also very relevant teams with relatively loyal fan bases. Yet, thousands upon thousands of fans no-showed or didn’t buy tickets for those games. Tuesday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” host Joe Scarborough said President Donald Trump was the “antithesis” of the teachings of Jesus Christ. Scarborough said, “You look in Matthew, and go through the Beatitudes. Every single Beatitude. You go through Jesus’s teaching. What he says he wants people to be. Donald Trump is the antithesis of just about every single thing that Jesus Christ said on the Sermon on the Mount. Go read it.” He added, “None of us are perfect, but he goes out of his way it seems to thumb his nose at all conventions. Including the basics of
