The truth can no longer be ignored: Donald Trump is dangerously unfit to be president and could lead the nation to unthinkable disaster. So what are we going to do about it? The White House “has become an adult day care center,” where the president’s senior aides spend “every single day .?.?. trying to contain him.” That terrifying bit of information was disclosed Sunday by Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), whose decision not to run for reelection has freed him to point out that the emperor is indeed naked. “Look, except for a few people, the vast

Corker is an idiot. He used to love Trump and campaigned heavily for him. Sadly he was passed over for VP and Sec of State and now Trump is going to deep six his wonderful deal with Iran and he’s mad and has resentments a mile high. He is a pathetic idiot and a short little drooling fool and a bufoon. What are we gong to do? Just keep winning baby and win bigly! Stick a cork in it Corker!

Reading whiny Eugene´s column reminded me of the lyrics to the 1974 song by Oscar Brown, Jr. (a take-off on an old Lone Ranger joke):

The Lone Ranger and Tonto
Were riding down the Navajo Trail
When a band of Indians found em
Proceeded to surround em and
The Lone Ranger turned kinda pale

Tonto, our lives are in danger
We got to get away if we can
Tonto just looked at Lone Ranger
What you mean, we, white man?

So, Eugene, those of us out here in fly-over country ask you - What you mean ´WE´? I don´t know what YOU are going to do, Eugene, but WE are going to keep winning! And smiling bigly!

All snark aside, Eugene Robinson has a very mediocre mind (I can´t use the word intellect, it would be inappropriate in his case). His columns remind me of several entries in a poetry anthology that I was assigned to read in college. Alongside the truly greats, T. S. Eliot, Gerard Manley Hopkins, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, and so forth, the editors had included some "poets of color" whose work was shockingly inadequate. The latter works stood out even to an unlearned freshman reader as simply not deserving to be in the book. No one had to tell me that this was pandering, affirmative action, whatever, at its very worst. It is the same with Eugene Robinson and not all, but a number of other minority columnists and op ed writers for large liberal newspapers. If blind submissions were required, their work would never be accepted for publication in any newspaper, much less a major one like the Washington Post. Robinson is an embarrassment to the news/opinion/writing profession.

Three Maine roofers put their hammers down and stood up to show respect for the national anthem on Saturday, in the process unknowingly posing for a photo that´s been used to symbolize one side of the contentious nationwide debate about "The Star-Spangled Banner." The roofers, who were working near Waterville High School’s football field, stood for the national anthem “even though they didn’t have to,” Michelle Lyons Cossar, the Old Town resident who snapped the photo, told Fox News on Monday. While Cossar was standing for the anthem prior to the start of Saturday’s game, she said she heard someone

New York activist Tamika Mallory says she was booted from an American Airlines flight in Miami after a pilot inserted himself into a dispute over her seat assignment. Mallory, a co-chair of the Women’s March on Washington, was traveling home to New York when the pilot followed her to scold her over an argument she had with a gate agent. He then had her summoned from her seat and kicked off the flight, she told the Daily News. “It definitely was white male aggression. I was singled out, I was disrespected, and he was trying to intimidate me. I was

NBC has tracked down and fired the employee responsible for leaking the video of MSNBC host Lawrence O´Donnell´s infamous meltdown, during which he cursed at his crew and yelled about hearing random noises in his earpiece during a live broadcast of his show. Multiple sources said a male editor for the "Today" show compiled and leaked the eight-minute video to Mediaite last month of O´Donnell yelling at his staff during the Aug. 29 broadcast of his show, "The Last Word," according to Page Six. In the clip, an increasingly perturbed O’Donnell slams his fist on his desk, rants about "insanity in the

DES MOINES, Iowa — Democrats in the Midwest know that the way to win back voters in states like Iowa is to talk about the economy, but they’re debating how exactly to do it. As a state that can make or break presidential campaigns, and one that had regularly sent liberal Democrats to Washington, Iowa now serves as a test of whether Democrats can win back white voters who have swung toward the Republican Party over the last decade. (Snip) Democrats hit rock bottom last year when they lost the state Senate and Trump won the state by 10 points. “Obama winning Iowa in 2008 and 2012 kind of papered over a lot

Former President George W. Bush said Thursday that “bigotry seems emboldened” in the United States, warning that Americans need to reject “white supremacy.” The former president also criticized the “governing class,” but did not specifically mention President Trump, Congress or any other politicians in office. “Discontent deepened and sharpened partisan conflicts” in recent years, Bush said in remarks from New York City at a forum focused on security and sponsored by the George W. Bush Institute.

Hillary Clinton admits she “really tried to get out of going” to President Trump’s inauguration. The former first lady and failed Democratic presidential nominee said on BBC One’s “The Graham Norton Show” that she asked the remaining former presidents if they were going to the Jan. 20 inauguration in an effort to justify not showing up herself. “I really tried to get out of going,” Mrs. Clinton said. “We thought ‘OK, maybe others aren’t going.’” She explained that it’s tradition for former presidents and first ladies to attend a presidential inauguration, regardless of party, to show “support” and “continuity of

Perhaps as startling as the revelation that the FBI was investigating the Hillary Clinton/Russia/Uranium One collusion and that key figures like Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, Special Counsel Robert Mueller and Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe knew about it and said nothing, is the refusal by Attorney General Jeff Sessions to remove the non-disclosure agreement gag order on the FBI informant who arguably could put Bill and Hillary Clinton and a few others in federal prison. It was said the Jeff Sessions recused himself from all things Russian because of election campaign conflicts but is it really because he thought it

Hillary Clinton didn´t win the presidency, but she´s in line for something almost as interesting -- the crown of "Wonder Woman." The Women´s Media Center, co-founded by feminist Gloria Steinem, told us that it is giving the latest Democratic presidential candidate its first "Wonder Woman Award" for her "extraordinary accomplishments" and public service. (Snip) "Like Wonder Woman, she seems to have superhuman strength, resilience, and courage," said the group in a reference to the famous comic and TV character. New York — An upcoming memoir from Sen. John McCain has taken on new meaning since he first decided to write it. “The Restless Wave: Good Times, Just Causes, Great Fights, and Other Appreciations” is scheduled to come out in April, Simon & Schuster told The Associated Press on Friday. The publisher quietly signed up the book in February, without any formal announcement. In July, McCain disclosed he had been diagnosed with brain cancer and last month he said the prognosis was “very poor.” McCain, 81, was re-elected to a sixth term in the Senate in 2016. “This memoir will be about what matters most to him,

Former President George W. Bush emerged from retirement on Thursday to stage a broad attack on President Donald Trump and the movement that supports him. Without mentioning Trump by name, Bush accused him of “casual cruelty” in political discourse, of distorting nationalism into “nativism,” and of emboldening bigotry and white supremacy. He called for a renewed commitment to American global leadership and domestic citizenship. It was a call to national unity — against Trump and his supporters, who were reduced to labels and caricatures: “protectionism,” “isolationist sentiments,” and the like. “Too often, we judge other groups by their worst examples

Disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein has completed his one-week sex rehab program. A psychologist taking part in his treatment told TMZ that Weinstein would remain in Arizona for a month or so after his week of outpatient ´intensive therapy´ ends on Saturday. Weinstein was ´invested in the program´ and had focused on ´dealing with his anger, his attitude toward others, boundary work and the beginnings of work on empathy,´ the psychologist told the outlet with Weinstein´s permission. The psychologist downplayed previous reports that the 65-year-old film producer had fallen asleep in group sessions and ranted about conspiracy theories. ´He showed up for all the

For fark’s sake. The guy’s accused of rape, by more than one woman. What sort of behavior does she think “invited” that? Even his somewhat less egregious offenses are inexplicable in terms of an invitation. Does anyone think Lauren Sivan put out the vibe upon meeting famous Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein that she was hoping to watch him furtively whack it into a potted plant in a dark corner of an empty restaurant kitchen? The more aggressive harassment is, the harder it is to explain in terms of a misconstrued female “invitation.” Actual assault is plainly indefensible, yet here’s Eddie
