Trump has more than three years left
in his term. What are we going to do?

Washington Post, by Eugene Robinson

The truth can no longer be ignored: Donald Trump is dangerously unfit to be president and could lead the nation to unthinkable disaster. So what are we going to do about it? The White House “has become an adult day care center,” where the president’s senior aides spend “every single day .?.?. trying to contain him.” That terrifying bit of information was disclosed Sunday by Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), whose decision not to run for reelection has freed him to point out that the emperor is indeed naked. “Look, except for a few people, the vast

I guess you can whine, cry, pout, hold your breath, stomp your feet, and run to the media with woe-is-me stories about Trump being mean.

Corker is an idiot. He used to love Trump and campaigned heavily for him. Sadly he was passed over for VP and Sec of State and now Trump is going to deep six his wonderful deal with Iran and he’s mad and has resentments a mile high. He is a pathetic idiot and a short little drooling fool and a bufoon. What are we gong to do? Just keep winning baby and win bigly! Stick a cork in it Corker!

Reading whiny Eugene´s column reminded me of the lyrics to the 1974 song by Oscar Brown, Jr. (a take-off on an old Lone Ranger joke):

The Lone Ranger and Tonto
Were riding down the Navajo Trail
When a band of Indians found em
Proceeded to surround em and
The Lone Ranger turned kinda pale

Tonto, our lives are in danger
We got to get away if we can
Tonto just looked at Lone Ranger
What you mean, we, white man?

So, Eugene, those of us out here in fly-over country ask you - What you mean ´WE´? I don´t know what YOU are going to do, Eugene, but WE are going to keep winning! And smiling bigly!

All snark aside, Eugene Robinson has a very mediocre mind (I can´t use the word intellect, it would be inappropriate in his case). His columns remind me of several entries in a poetry anthology that I was assigned to read in college. Alongside the truly greats, T. S. Eliot, Gerard Manley Hopkins, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, and so forth, the editors had included some "poets of color" whose work was shockingly inadequate. The latter works stood out even to an unlearned freshman reader as simply not deserving to be in the book. No one had to tell me that this was pandering, affirmative action, whatever, at its very worst. It is the same with Eugene Robinson and not all, but a number of other minority columnists and op ed writers for large liberal newspapers. If blind submissions were required, their work would never be accepted for publication in any newspaper, much less a major one like the Washington Post. Robinson is an embarrassment to the news/opinion/writing profession.

Bah humbug: Fox’s “A Christmas Story Live!” just got blindsided by NBC’s NFL football in early TV ratings. Oh, and every other broadcast TV show beat it as well. The latest live television musical managed a 2.8 overnight rating/5 share in the 56 metered-markets monitored by Nielsen. Compare that with NBC’s “Sunday Night Football,” which posted a massive 12.3/21 last night. To be fair, that latter broadcast had the Dallas Cowboys. Plus, football is still football and no one expected “A Christmas Story” to compete — it certainly could have done much better than it did, however. ABC’s “Sound of Music”

Washington — Once again, black women showed up for Democrats, with nearly all of them voting in Alabama for new Sen. Doug Jones, just as they did for Democratic candidates up and down the ballot in other states over the last few months. The same women, having proven their loyalty by voting 98 percent for Senator Jones, now wonder whether the Democratic Party will return the favor by sharing some of the party´s political power, handing over places at the negotiating table and pushing legislation that speaks to their unique issues. For much of the year, Kirsten Gillibrand’s critics — sensing a presidential aspirant in their midst — had assumed that the New York senator could not hear enough about herself. For one day at least, it appeared she had. It had been about 10 hours since President Trump accused her of “begging” for campaign contributions that she “would do anything” to secure, and the Ms. Gillibrand, driving with her 14-year-old son on Tuesday evening, flipped on the radio looking for an update on the Senate race in Alabama. The top story, instead, was her. The radio went off again. What, exactly,

Four people were shot in Chicago between Thursday and early Friday, including a man killed by a concealed carry owner in the parking lot of a Target on the South Side. The fatal shooting occurred at about 8 p.m. in the parking lot shared by Target and Fifth Third Bank in the 1900 block of West 33rd Street in the McKinley Park neighborhood, police said. A 27-year-old man told police he shot another man, 21, who tried to rob him at gunpoint, police said. The man was shot in the back and chest and pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital, police said. Two guns were recovered from the car. About 10 minutes after the fatal shooting,

In a recent study based on five years of data from the California Department of Motor Vehicles, James Archsmith and David Rapson of University of California, Davis, Ken Gillingham of Yale University and I found that in two-car households, increasing the fuel economy of the first car encourages owners to demand less fuel economy in

Colin Kaepernick can’t seem to do anything without making someone upset — even if it’s something selfless. On Tuesday, the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback went to the infamous Rikers Island prison in New York to pay a surprise visit to inmates. A Department of Corrections spokesman said that Kaepernick was there “to share a message of hope and inspiration.” But according to the New York Daily News, Kaepernick’s very presence at the prison angered Elias Husamudeen, president of the Correction Officers Benevolent Association. Here’s what Husamudeen told the Daily News: “This will only encourage inmates to continue to attack

Franken announced last Thursday that he would be resigning “in the coming weeks” after eight different women accused him of groping or forcibly kissing them. “The timing of Franken’s resignation remains unclear, as is his motive in delaying it,” New York Magazine’s Ed Kilgore noted at the time. Franken has yet to offer any more specificity about when he’s going to follow through in resigning. Franken’s office did not return multiple requests for comment on the subject. Franken begrudgingly offered his resignation after 35 Democratic senators called on him to do so, three weeks after he was first accused

The Seahawks had several chances late in Sunday´s game to beat the Jaguars in Jacksonville but their fate was sealed after Russell Wilson failed to convert on fourth down with just over two minutes to go. And that´s when things got interesting. (Snip) The two teams lined up for one more kneel down, and as Jefferson made his way to the locker room he was almost nailed by what appeared to be a drink thrown from the stands. At this point, Jefferson made a sharp left to confront the fan(s) in question. yelling towards the front row while being restrained

Embattled Republican Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore is now leading his Democratic rival, Doug Jones, by 4 points, according to a new survey. A Gravis Marketing poll finds Moore has 49 percent support in the Alabama Senate race, while 45 percent back Jones. Another 6 percent of respondents in the poll are undecided. Of those who are undecided, 24 percent say they are leaning toward supporting Moore, 27 percent say they are leaning toward Jones and nearly 50 percent are uncertain. Moore is facing accusations of sexual misconduct from multiple women. A woman accused Moore of initiating a sexual encounter with her when

Over 700 employees at the Environmental Protection Agency have quit or taken early retirement during the Trump administration so far, bringing the agency close to employment levels not seen since Reagan. ThinkProgress, whose senior editor is scared of his plumber who he fears may have voted for Trump, is warning that the exodus will lead to "dirtier air" and "dirtier water." "Since Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt took over the top job at the agency in March, more than 700 employees have either retired, taken voluntary buyouts, or quit, signaling the second-highest exodus of employees from the agency in nearly a

An MSNBC spokesman confirmed Saturday the company made a separation-related payment to one of Chris Matthews employees after the woman complained about sexual harassment. Two sources familiar with the situation told The Daily Caller that Matthews paid $40,000 to settle with an assistant producer on his show, “Hardball with Chris Matthews,” in 1999 after she accused him of harassment. An MSNBC spokesperson contested that claim to the Caller, saying the company instead paid significantly less as part of a severance package. The woman complained to CNBC executives about Matthews making inappropriate comments and jokes about her while in the company

There’s bad news and there’s worse news for President Donald Trump in new polls released this week. First comes the latest round of polling showing that Trump is the most unpopular president on record. Just 32% of respondents to a new Associated Press-NORC poll said they approved of the job Trump is doing as president, while an overwhelming 67% they disapproved. Among those who don’t think the president is doing a good job, more than half say they “strongly disapprove” of his work. The poll — conducted earlier this month — also suggests that nearly 70% of Americans believe the United States is “heading

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) is returning to Arizona and will miss the final vote on his party’s tax bill this week, CBS News reported Sunday. McCain, who has been hospitalized at Walter Reed Medical Center suffering from the side effects of his treatment for brain cancer, reportedly left Washington, D.C., on Sunday to return home for the holidays. This means he will not be in D.C. for the GOP tax bill vote, which is expected to take place early in the week. Republicans have won over two key votes for the measure, meaning they should still have the razor-thin majority needed to

I don’t know whether this is comedy or a sign that in rural America, Democrats really don’t have anyone to run in statewide races. There were rumors that Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) could become the next director of the CIA, current CIA Director Mike Pompeo would become secretary of state, and current Secretary of State Rex Tillerson would be asked to take a hike. Talk about some unwelcome Thanksgiving news if you’re Tillerson. The Trump White House has rejected the notion that this plan is in the works. Tillerson himself said he’s never considered leaving his current post.

It appears the Obama Administration weaponized the Federal Bureau of Investigation just like they weaponized the Internal Revenue Service. The Obama administration used government agencies to wage a covert war on their political enemies. This is an all-out war. We have a growing mountain of evidence to suggest the FBI was attempting to overthrow a duly elected president. We have evidence to suggest the FBI was protecting Hillary Clinton so she might be elected president. There is no smoking gun just yet – but the evidence is staggering – it is simply staggering. Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) told the Todd

The Democracy Dies in Darkness Café is located conveniently near the Capitol, the Hill and the FBI headquarters. It’s open all night and I stopped in for a late-night coffee with my friend, a fiction novelist who was depressed. “I spent a year writing about a coup attempt against an outsider who by strategic brilliance defeated the handpicked candidate of a cabal of establishment powerhouses. It involved the highest officials of the FBI and Department of Justice. PART I A GLOBAL THREAT EMERGES How Hezbollah turned to trafficking cocaine and laundering money through used cars to finance its expansion. In its determination to secure a nuclear deal with Iran, the Obama administration derailed an ambitious law enforcement campaign targeting drug trafficking by the Iranian-backed terrorist group Hezbollah, even as it was funneling cocaine into the United States, according to a POLITICO investigation. The campaign, dubbed Project Cassandra, was launched in 2008 after the Drug Enforcement Administration amassed evidence that Hezbollah had transformed itself from a Middle East-focused military and political organization into an international crime syndicate that some investigators believed was

"Black women showed up and showed out," said Kimberlè
