NFL TV audience numbers continue
to decline early in 2017 season

MSN Sports, by Michael McCarthy

Original Article

No wonder alarm bells are sounding in NFL commissioner Roger Goodell’s office. The league´s average TV audience through Week 5 of the 2017 season dropped 7 percent vs. the same period of the 2016 season, according to Nielsen data obtained by Sporting News. Worse for the league, the average game audiences are down 18 percent compared to the first five weeks of the 2015 season. (Snip) Partner networks ESPN, CBS Sports, NBC Sports and Fox Sports promise advertisers and sponsors certain audience numbers. If those numbers are not reached, the networks have to cough up so-called "make-goods," or free ads,

Comments:
It´s hard to argue with the numbers. Since 2015, down almost 20%.

I´ve never been a sports fan, but I come from a family of football fanatics.

I am amazed, that every single member of my family (close and extended) has stopped watching. This was the center of their weekends and they just stopped cold turkey.

I suspect they will never watch again, regardless of what the league eventually does.

I would never have believed it. Boy, did the NFL really mess up!

If they hadn´t been so bamfuzzled by the political correctness of never referring to an act of a black person as improper, they might have had the good sense to do the right thing from the start and this would have been nipped in the bud.

Alas, pc liberals, our President is correct in another instance, again. ;-)

Most NFLers were poor before becoming pro. Raised under the government entitlement culture, special treatment throughout high school because they were black, and under no obligation to learn to read and write. Now that they´re millionaires, they feel oppressed and thinking they were unfairly treated by America? Blacks will NEVER outgrow slavery, and will always live under the imaginary world of being OPPRESSED by everybody else except BLACKS.

Sad to see the NFL jumping on board the social justice train which is nothing more than a front for anti-American rhetoric coming from all the America-haters out there.

The NFL seems to be doubling down thinking they can tell their audience what to think. They may survive, but they will never recover.

When I was in high school in the early ´70´s, I met several of the Redskins players at a charity basketball game. They were good guys.

Fast forward to today.
The NFL players dropped a feces in the punchbowl with this ´protesting´ stunt.

Now that I see what low-life people populate today´s NFL, I have no desire to ever watch them again.

The NFL can scoop the feces from the punchbowl, but I ain´t drinkin´ from it!

Washington — Once again, black women showed up for Democrats, with nearly all of them voting in Alabama for new Sen. Doug Jones, just as they did for Democratic candidates up and down the ballot in other states over the last few months. The same women, having proven their loyalty by voting 98 percent for Senator Jones, now wonder whether the Democratic Party will return the favor by sharing some of the party´s political power, handing over places at the negotiating table and pushing legislation that speaks to their unique issues. "Black women showed up and showed out," said Kimberlè

For much of the year, Kirsten Gillibrand’s critics — sensing a presidential aspirant in their midst — had assumed that the New York senator could not hear enough about herself. For one day at least, it appeared she had. It had been about 10 hours since President Trump accused her of “begging” for campaign contributions that she “would do anything” to secure, and the Ms. Gillibrand, driving with her 14-year-old son on Tuesday evening, flipped on the radio looking for an update on the Senate race in Alabama. The top story, instead, was her. The radio went off again. What, exactly,

Two guns were recovered from the car. About 10 minutes after the fatal shooting,

Conventional wisdom is that Attorney General Jeff Sessions is asleep at the wheel – from recusing himself unnecessarily from the Trump-Russia collusion investigation to doing nothing about the politicization and weaponization of the Department of Justice. He also gave free rein to his deputy A.G., Rod Rosenstein, who is in turn allowing Special Counsel Robert Mueller unlimited time, money, and jurisdiction to investigate President Trump´s entire life. Last summer, Trump expressed disappointment in Sessions, calling him "beleaguered," wondering why Sessions wasn´t looking into Hillary Clinton´s emails and true election chicanery.
