LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. — The owner of the nation´s last Howard Johnson restaurant has been charged with sexually abusing or harassing more than a dozen female employees of his upstate New York business. The Warren County Sheriff´s Deputy announced Wednesday that 65-year-old Jonathan LaRock was arrested on charges of sexual abuse, unlawful imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child. Deputies say the investigation started last week after a 17-year-old girl told police she had been sexually harassed by LaRock while working at his eatery in Lake George, a popular Adirondack tourist destination 55 miles (88 kilometers) north of Albany. Police say
Comments: Aw naw. Is this the end of HoJo Cola? For another zipper whipper?
This made me remember: In the early 90s I bought a restaurant that had closed when the older owner died. I bought it to tear it down and expand a parking lot. In the tear-down process we found a dozen cameras hidden in the ladies restroom in various spots, all wired into the owners office. That old man had been watching women in the john, probably for years.
Only a few hours after Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced Jan. 4 he would enforce federal marijuana laws, NORML was celebrating the Vermont House’s approval of a proposal to legalize recreational marijuana. Five days later, on Jan. 9, NORML rejoiced again when the New Hampshire State House approved similar legislation. The next day, NORML declared the death of “the failed Flat Earth policies of marijuana prohibition” when the Vermont Senate concurred with the House and sent the bill legalizing pot on to Gov. Phil Scott (R). “The majority of Vermonters, like the majority of the American public, desire to live in a community
WASHINGTON – House Democratic leaders criticized congressional Republicans for not doing enough to prevent Russian interference in the upcoming midterm elections and the 2020 presidential election. Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), House Homeland Security Committee ranking member, said the full committee did not hold any hearings last year focused on protecting America’s election infrastructure. “The next election, which is upon us within a year, there’s potential Russian actors who will be moving – but also there’s a 2020 election upon us and, up to this point, there’s nothing that’s gone forward with it,” Thompson said during a press conference Tuesday on Capitol Hill. House
On the morning of Oct. 1, 2015, a middle-aged telemarketer arrived at the Washington headquarters of the Federal Trade Commission. His name was Aaron Michael Jones, or possibly Michael Aaron Jones, and in any case, he went by Mike. According to court documents, Mike was a father and widower. He lived well, paying $25,000 a month for a Spanish Colonial Revival in a gated community near Laguna Beach, Calif. He also employed a personal chef, drove a couple of Mercedes, and maintained a gambling account at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. Jones sustained his lifestyle by spamming people with robo-calls. He
PORT RICHEY — One of the 50 passengers who had to jump off of a burning boat and into frigid waters on Sunday has died, according to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office. Meanwhile the Coast Guard on Monday morning started investigating the gutted vessel as it sat in the muck off the coast of Pasco County. The 42-year-old woman was not identified. She was pronounced dead at 10:42 p.m. Sunday night, deputies said, while being treated for her injuries at Bayonet Point Regional Medical Center. The hospital staff reported her death to the Sheriff’s Office at about 1 a.m. Monday. Deputies did
ABC Clinton lackey George Stephanopoulos stepped up the liberal media’s condemnation of President Trump during Sunday’s This Week by heinously exploiting the heroic death of a U.S. soldier to take a snide shot at the President for his recent immigration comments. As he was wrapping up the show, Stephanopoulos drew attention to the death of Private Emmanuel Mensah. Private Mensah was an immigrant from Ghana who sacrificed himself to save several others from a fire that was consuming the apartment building he was staying at with family while he was on leave. “Finally this week, in that now infamous oval
OPRAH FOR PRESIDENT! Oprah Winfrey is loved across the globe for being the fattest black female billionaire in world history, and for that, she deserves to be worshiped! Most people know her for making film history after becoming the first female African American thespian to pee for ten minutes straight on film in Steven Spielberg’s heartwarming racial/gender drama The Color Purple. Sure, even after America rewarded her with enough wealth to buy several African countries in addition to a lifetime Weight Watchers membership, she still feels fit to lie and say that millions of black Americans were lynched (actually, the best estimate
We may have been the first to expose the Democracy Alliance, back in 2014. The Democracy Alliance is a shadowy group of far-left money men who organize their efforts to try to radically transform American society through left-wing organizations of various kinds. The Democracy Alliance rates such groups and encourages its far-left donors to support those who rate the highest, and it attempts to coordinate the efforts to transform America that are carried out by elements of the far left. Last November, Paul commented on the fact that a Washington Post reporter, Janell Ross–her beat is “race”–spoke at a secret Democracy
We have followed recent events in Wisconsin’s scandalous John Doe investigation of Governor Walker’s allies and supporters here (also citing background on the scandal) and here. State senator Tom Tiffany then updated us on the scandal’s aftermath. Now Senator Tiffany has directed our attention to Matt Kittle’s current MacIver Institute report “In John Doe’s shadow: Showdown looms in bitter battle over bureaucrats’ jobs.” Senator Tiffany has also forwarded Deborah Hawley Jordahl’s column commenting on current developments. Ms. Jordahl was herself a victim of the secret John Doe investigation. Her home was searched and turned upside down in a pre-dawn raid by
The biggest scandal of our time is the manner in which the Democratic Party, under Barack Obama, weaponized the intelligence agencies and the FBI for political purposes. An obscure news story–obscure but for the fact that it was linked by Drudge–suggests that the CIA may have used entertainment personalities to smear Donald Trump shortly after his inauguration. The story relates to Moby, who I take it is an entertainer of some sort. (Snip) Moby could be lying, of course. There is a lot of that going on these days. But if he is telling the truth, the matter could hardly
TAMPA — Kenneth Spain told his students at Chamberlain High School that he overcame a pornography addiction when he found Jesus. Pornography and Jesus are both taboo topics for public school teachers, so this became a case for the Hillsborough County school district’s professional standards office. Spain resigned. He asked if he could return as a substitute. A letter in his file said not just yet. But Kelly Educational Staffing hired him anyway and sent him to work at Greco Middle School. Kelly — contracted by the district since 2014 — fills more than 170,000 shifts each year when teachers are absent or on
Walt Blenner is a Tampa Bay personal injury lawyer who also does some estate planning and recently fell into a niche of representing lottery winners. About three years ago, Blenner helped a man who won a $3 million scratch-off secure his newfound wealth. He’s also written blog posts on his law firm website, providing guidance to lottery winners, and has consulted with several of them on the phone. Then came Shane Missler, the 20-year-old Port Richey man who claimed the $450 million Mega Millions jackpot on Friday. Among the advice Blenner has told his new client so far: "Your old life is

Robert Carr, 66, whose firm is the Resolute Law Group at 808 W Waters Ave., faces felony charges of cocaine trafficking, conspiracy to traffic cocaine and possession of a vehicle knowingly used to traffic cocaine. Michelle Obama and her eldest daughter Malia made a rare appearance in swimsuits as they are enjoying the sun in Miami. The mother and 19-year-old daughter were spotted walking off Miami Beach on Saturday surrounded by friends - including former Obama administration senior advisor Valerie Jarrett - and Secret Service personnel.Michelle, 53, looked sensational in a white bikini top matched with high-waisted white denim cut-off shorts as she trudged her way barefoot through the sand, holding her shoes in one hand.
This Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the NAACP wants man-made global warming to be seen as a civil rights issue, arguing King’s vision of a society free of racial injustice can’t be achieved without addressing warming. “We see climate change as a civil rights issue,” Jacqueline Patterson, head of the NAACP’s environmental and climate justice program, said in an online radio spot for the Yale Center for Environmental Connection. Environmental activists have been increasingly framing global warming as a matter of “environmental justice,” since “minority and low-income populations are disproportionately affected by global warming,” Patterson told Yale’s online radio Climate
The most recent attack on the president is designed to throw him off balance during the debate on immigration. Senator Durbin, doing his best Claude Rains imitation, stated, "I cannot believe that, in the history of the White House, in that Oval Office, any president has ever spoken the words that I personally heard our president speak yesterday." Durbin was responding to Trump´s alleged comment that Haiti, El Salvador, and certain African countries are "s---holes." Many of the reports omit mention of El Salvador because it does not fit the anti-black allegations. Senator Durbin is not a young man, and he
Mitt Romney took a swipe at Donald Trump on Monday, condemning the crude comments the president was said to have made about Haiti and African countries -- calling them “inconsistent (with) America’s history and antithetical to American values” with a reference to Martin Luther King, Jr. The poverty of an aspiring immigrant’s nation of origin is as irrelevant as their race,” Romney tweeted. “The sentiment attributed to POTUS is inconsistent w/America’s history and antithetical to American values. May our memory of Dr. King buoy our hope for unity, greatness, & ‘charity for all.’”
Actress and yogurt salesman Jamie Lee Curtis knows exactly whom to blame for a false alarm that told Hawaiians an incoming ballistic missile was detected. It was all President Trump´s fault. Duh. Now, never mind that Trump was in Florida at the time. On the golf course. And forget that Hawaii´s Emergency Management Agency (EMA), run by the Hawaiian state government, apologized for setting off the false alarm when someone pushed the wrong button. In a Saturday afternoon post on Twitter, Curtis attacked Trump, writing "YOU DID THIS!" "This Hawaii missile scare is on YOU Mr. Trump. The real FEAR that
This is the shocking moment a massive brawl broke out in a California pizza restaurant over a missing iPhone that turned out to have been in the lost and found the whole time. Police were called to John´s Incredible Pizza Company in Newark´s NewPark Mall on Saturday night after violence erupted. It broke out after a girl missing her phone had approached a group to see if they´d seen it but quickly descended into chaos, with video showing two large groups of people exchanging blows and screaming at each other. Newark police officers had to call in officers from the Fremont Police Department
TRENTON, N.J. — Days before his inauguration as New Jersey’s 56th governor, Phil Murphy had Hollywood on his mind. The 60-year old Democrat had just read a headline about reshoots on “All the Money in the World,” which had been done in a hurry to remove disgraced actor Kevin Spacey from the movie. (Snip) Murphy is ready to end his obscurity. On Tuesday, when he is sworn in, New Jersey will become one of just eight states where Democrats run every branch of government. If Murphy has his way, New Jersey will become a proving ground for every liberal policy
Lots of the news from sub-Saharan Africa is about war, famine, poverty or political upheaval. So it’s understandable if many Americans think most Africans who immigrate to the United States are poorly educated and desperate. Research tells another story. While many are refugees, large numbers are beneficiaries of the diversity-visa program aimed at boosting immigration from underrepresented nations. And on average, African immigrants are better educated than people born in the U.S. or the immigrant population as a whole.
Former President Bill Clinton said on Twitter Saturday that no Clinton Foundation funds were used to pay for his daughter´s wedding. After President Trump reportedly made crude remarks about Haiti and other less-developed countries, some on the right pointed to alleged mishandling of Haitian earthquake relief funds by the Clinton Foundation. On Twitter, President Clinton slammed the notion that any funds from the foundation, whether earmarked for Haiti or not, were used in association with his daughter Chelsea´s wedding to investment banker Marc Mezvinsky. No Clinton Foundation funds—dedicated to Haiti or otherwise—
Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) on Monday announced she plans to boycott President Trump´s State of the Union address to Congress at the end of the month, joining a handful of other Democratic lawmakers who are skipping the annual event. "I´m here on Martin Luther King Jr. Day to say I will not be going to the State of the Union," Jayapal said in a video posted on social media. "I think it is absolutely unacceptable to see the racism and the hatred coming out the White House in a way in which this president is fueling the flames of divisiveness across
Florida Rep. Frederica Wilson added her name to a growing list of Democratic lawmakers who say they are fed up with President Trump and will boycott his State of the Union address at the end of the month. (snip) “For the first time since I began serving in the U.S. House of Representatives, I will not be attending the president’s State of the Union address,” Wilson said in a statement late Sunday. “I have no doubts that instead of delivering a message of inclusivity and an agenda that benefits all Americans, President Trump’s address will be full of innuendo, empty
Why would my 22-year-old brother be calling so early on a Saturday morning? I’d ignored the first call. But the second time the phone rang, I picked it up. He was panicking, his voice trembling uncharacteristically: He’d just received the emergency alert warning of a ballistic missile that was heading for Hawaii, where I’m from, and where he and my family still live. “THIS IS NOT A DRILL,” the alert read. My brother was alone, and had no idea what to do or where to go. And he wouldn’t have had much time to figure out a game plan—some estimates
