Hankering for deer meat? Arby´s to
serve venison nationwide next week

If McDonald´s return of Szechuan sauce wasn´t enough of a "limited time only" fast food adventure for you, Arby´s announced its bringing back its venison sandwich this month. And unlike the McDonald´s sauce debacle last week — Arby´s swears there will be enough sandwiches, and they will be at every location in America. The deer-meat sandwich was offered last fall during a limited time in select stores, but the chain known for its roast beef says because of its popularity, the sandwich is making a comeback on Oct. 21. "The positive response to our limited offering of venison last year was so

Comments:
Serving venison in America is similar to serving kangaroo in Australia. Down Under the ´roos are becoming a nuisance species in some places. Twenty years ago I read that the state game and fish agency in Alabama estimated that the population of white-tailed deer within the state´s boundaries was 3,500,000. In the Lower 48 there might be one hundred million. Hunters, get busy!

Deer, lovely animals-but please Arby´s come to GA, all those white tail deer they brought down from MI in the 1940´s have, well multiplied like rabbits. They are everywhere and we can´t hunt them all.
And might I make a suggestion, coyote meat? We could keep you supplied for decades.

If the deer population is getting out of control it would make sense for the various wildlife agencies to make hunting them easier. As is, you spend hundred$ getting the necessary licenses and processing if you get one, plus here in TN you have to apply for a lottery to win a limited number of chances to take a doe. That just seems to be more trouble than its worth IMO.

Were it not for my guardian angel, I would have had grilled venison last Friday morning on a narrow back road leading into Newnan Georgia. I thought ?deer? as I approached the curve, and glanced at my speedometer. I was doing 45 MPH (the speed limit). Suddenly, not more then 40 feet in front of me two ewes were crossing the road. By my math, at forty-five miles per hour on is moving at 66 feet per second. I drove right between them . . .

An explosive report has revealed that close associates of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and officials of his AKP Party are funding and arming criminal gangs in Germany. This information reportedly was leaked by German intelligence to several media outlets, which subsequently published the allegations. German-language outlet ZDF reported that German intelligence wiretaps revealed AKP Party officials transferring money to leaders of the "Osmanen Germania" (Ottoman Germany) biker gang. The money was for purchasing weapons and directing attacks on critics of Erdogan´s increasingly tyrannical regime in

Has the first year of the Trump administration been a retreat from the global agenda or paradoxically fueled its expansion? Superficially it resembles a retreat. Former rising star Elizabeth Shackleford recently resigned from the State Department over what she characterized as the administration´s failure to promote "US values and interests overseas: advancing democracy ... human rights, and ... a more secure global order for the American people. “With each passing day, however, this task grows more futile, driving the Department’s experienced and talented staff away in ever greater numbers,” she wrote.

Talk of the “higher education bubble” has been around for a while, but two news items today make me think it is starting to pop—and remember, bubbles usually don’t pop instantaneously. The housing crash of 2008 was signaled by visibly deteriorating conditions in the summer of 2007. Likewise, the higher ed bubble is going to resemble the old line about how some rich person went bankrupt—first slowly, then all at once. TIME Magazine announced last week that its 2017 Person of the Year was “The Silence Breakers,” beating out runners-up Donald Trump, Xi Jinping, Robert Mueller, Kim Jong Un, Colin Kaepernick and Patty Jenkins. “The Silence Breakers” are women who have “summoned extraordinary personal courage to speak out about sexual harassment at their jobs.” No political party, industry, or ideological group is immune to problems of sexual harassment. Even with the significant advances made in civil rights and equal opportunities for women in the past half century, being a woman is still a disadvantage in many workplaces and situations where outright harassment

WASHINGTON - Confident congressional Republicans forged an agreement Wednesday on a major overhaul of the nation´s tax laws that would provide generous tax cuts for corporations and the wealthiest Americans - Donald Trump among them - and deliver the first major legislative accomplishment to the GOP president. Middle- and low-income families would get smaller tax cuts, though Trump and GOP leaders have billed the package as a huge benefit for the middle class. The measure would scrap a major tax requirement of Barack Obama´s Affordable Care Act, a step toward the ultimate GOP goal of unraveling the law. "The cynical voices

Robert Mueller’s investigation into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election has been plagued with scandal. In one notorious episode, the FBI agent who was perhaps most critical to the Hillary Clinton email investigation as well as to Mueller’s inquiry, Peter Strzok, turned out to be a rabid anti-Trump partisan. Moreover, he was conducting an extramarital affair with another anti-Trump zealot, Lisa Page, who is an FBI lawyer and also worked on the Russia investigation. Both Strzok and Page have been dismissed from Mueller’s team, but Mueller apparently has tried to cover up the circumstances surrounding their respective transfers. It has

A mountain of evidence points to a single fact: Russia meddled in the U.S. presidential election of 2016. In both classified and public reports, U.S. intelligence agencies have said Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered actions to interfere with the election. Those actions included the cyber-theft of private data, the placement of propaganda against particular candidates, and an overall effort to undermine public faith in the U.S. democratic process. Members of Congress, both Democrats and Republicans, have held open and closed door hearings to probe Russia’s actions. The congressional investigations are ongoing. By and large the streets stayed calm. This expungement, I said in jest, was the required remedy for Spacey’s sexual assaults and related misconduct. Now I learn that Minnesota Public Radio has expunged Garrison Keillor — also accused of sexual misconduct, albeit vastly less severe than Spacey’s. According to this

On Tuesday, Democrat Doug Jones pulled off a stunning victory over Republican Roy Moore in Alabama. The race went down to the wire, but the Democrat prevailed. Here are five things to know about why Jones won, why Moore lost, and what it means for the future of the U.S. Senate and both parties. 1. Character matters. According to NBC News exit polls, 49 percent of Alabama voters thought the sexual assault accusations against Roy Moore were "definitely" or "probably" true. Republicans and Democrats split on partisan lines — a whopping 82 percent of Republicans said the allegations were "probably" or "definitely" false,

Alabama is one of the most reliably Republican states in the country. The last time a Democrat was elected was in 1992, and no Democrat has won more than 40 percent of the vote in a Senate race there since 1996. The closest election in recent memory was in 2002, when Jeff Sessions won re-election by a razor-thin margin of 19 points. Sen. Richard Shelby has won his last three elections by 35 points, 30 points and 28 points, respectively. So it takes a special kind of stupid to pick a candidate who can lose to a Democrat in Alabama.

Scandal: For 18 months, the FBI has been fixated on determining whether President Trump worked with Russia to influence the 2016 election. But explosive text exchanges between top FBI agents suggest it should be looking in the mirror. The text messages sent between Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, which became public on Wednesday, provide a rare and illuminating window into just how rabidly partisan putatively nonpartisan law enforcement officials can be. In the exchanges, they called Trump an "idiot," a "loathsome human," an "enormous do-che," and said "this man cannot be president." When not berating Trump, they were praising Hillary Clinton.
