Covered California slaps a surcharge on
health plans as Trump remains coy on subsidies

Los Angeles Times, by Chad Terhune

California’s health insurance exchange said Wednesday it has ordered insurers to add a surcharge to certain policies next year because the Trump administration has yet to commit to paying a key set of consumer subsidies under the Affordable Care Act. The decision to impose a 12.4% surcharge on silver-level health plans in 2018 means the total premium increase for those policies will average nearly 25%, according to Covered California. Taxpayers, not consumers, will bear the brunt of the extra rate hike because federal premium assistance for policyholders, which is pegged to the cost of coverage, will also increase. Statewide, rate increases will vary

And why shouldn´t consumers pay? Why do Californistan citizens get cheaper premiums by having me and every other American pay for it? A subsidy didn´t come from Uncle Sam´s money tree, it came out of my pocket and every tax paying Americans´ pocket. And if these people have to pay for the health care they deserve, maybe they will stop voting Democrat like zombies from the apocalypse.

Obamacare continues to get worse, just as predicted.

Trump didn´t start this mess, the Dems did.

They wrote this law. They passed this law. They´re the ones who passed the largest tax increase in history. If you love this, keep voting for Democrats.

WINCHESTER, VA. — The melodic sounds of a street musician’s trumpet echo through every corner of this old Virginia town as locals shop or make their way to lunch. Daren Johnson has been blowing his horn at the pedestrian mall in the shadow of the Shenandoah Valley Civil War Museum for over an hour. He performs for two reasons: “To make some extra cash and to share a little bit of lightness. We are exhausted as a country,” he said, “a direct result of last year’s election.” Johnson and his wife were tireless volunteers for Hillary Clinton last year. They knocked

Let’s put the Uranium One scandal in perspective: The cool half-million bucks the Putin regime funneled to Bill Clinton was five times the amount it spent on those Facebook ads — the ones the media-Democrat complex ludicrously suggests swung the 2016 presidential election to Donald Trump. The Facebook-ad buy, which started in June 2015 — before Donald Trump entered the race — was more left-wing agitprop (ads pushing hysteria on racism, immigration, guns, etc.) than electioneering. The Clintons’ own long-time political strategist Mark Penn estimates that just $6,500 went to actual electioneering. (You read that right: 65 hundred dollars.) By

Destruction of the Islamic State

The Islamic State´s defeat in Raqqa, Syria, this week is an important milestone in America´s war to destroy that brutal terrorist organization. Yet, it would be a mistake to declare "Mission Accomplished." To bring about the Islamic State´s lasting defeat, the U.S. must act with urgent and ruthless dispatch on both the military and political fronts. The goal is to win a war. That means finishing off the enemy — killing it. It also means leaving behind an environment in which peace is possible. On the military track, President Trump made an important change from the Obama administration when he

It was another week of hunting for witches to burn in Washington. Even Gen. John Kelly, a man who has served our nation with honor and sacrifice, was nearly consumed by the flames. Kelly’s sin is his willingness to be chief of staff to President Trump, and to try to stop the madness that appears determined to destroy Trump, no matter the cost to America. Last week’s episode was instructive about the state of our disunion. That the deaths of four soldiers, ambushed in Niger, would be reduced to political fodder for the bonfire reveals the depths of depravity. The first false charge

MSNBC star Rachel Maddow’s latest anti-Trump conspiracy theory was so outlandish that even the dependably liberal HuffPost criticized it as "so flimsy that it could be debunked by a quick glance at a map." On Thursday evening, "The Rachel Maddow Show" opened with a somber 25-minute diatribe that attempted to connect the tragic ambush attack that killed four American soldiers in Niger to the latest version of President Trump’s proposed travel ban, which included the nation of Chad. Maddow essentially claimed that the inclusion of Chad, which recently pulled its troops out of Niger, in the revised travel ban resulted in

I don’t believe it’s disputable at this point that the most potent issue behind the rise of the far right in America and Europe is mass immigration. It’s a core reason that Trump is now president; it’s why the AfD is now the third-biggest party in the German, yes, German, parliament; it’s why Austria’s new chancellor won by co-opting much of the far right’s agenda on immigration; it’s why Britain is attempting (and currently failing) to leave the EU; it’s why Marine Le Pen won a record number of votes for her party in France this spring. In 2010, the FBI arrested ten Russian spies as part of "Operation Ghost Stories." They had already infiltrated then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton´s inner circle, befriending a Democratic fundraiser close to Clinton. Clinton´s Russian connections have attracted more scrutiny following recent revelations of an FBI investigation into Russian company Rosatom, which gained control of 20 percent of U.S. uranium in the 2010 Uranium One deal. Comey’s hand in it should discredit the Mueller operation all by itself. Comey is a sort of Rosetta stone for the Russia investigation. Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-FL) is not backing off her claim that President Trump disrespected a fallen soldier´s widow earlier this week. Trump phoned Myeshia Johnson to share his condolences for the death of her husband Sgt. La David Johnson, who died during an Islamic State ambush in Niger earlier this month. Wilson says she overheard some of the president´s words via speakerphone and swears she heard him insensitively say that Johnson "knew what he signed up for." President Trump rebuked Wilson on Twitter and called her a liar, but she has not changed her story.
