Harvey Weinstein accusations
cause chaos in Hollywood

Hollywood is in chaos, and all because of one man: Harvey Weinstein. Multiple allegations of rape, sexual harassment and trading sex for movie roles have forced one of the most powerful men in show business out of his company and begging for help and forgiveness. But the ripples extending from the wake of Weinstein’s dramatic fall extend much further than his business and personal relationships and so far show no signs of abating. From the women he allegedly abused, to the associates who allegedly knew about his behavior all along but stayed silent, to the A-list actors and actresses who depend on him

Word is Georgina Chapman´s Marquesa jewelry licensee is backing out, too.

My daughter worked in the movie business in PR about 10 years ago, when she was in her early 20´s. She was a bit star struck and was thrilled to have close and daily access to people like Johnny Depp (hot), Keira Knightly (serious eating disorder), Orlando Bloom (smelly), Kevin Spacey (hilarious) and Robert DiNiro ("Bob" to her). After about two years she moved on to less sexy areas of PR like real estate and medical technology because she began to see the entertainment business as vacuous. When this story broke, all she said was that Hollywood as a whole is filthy and disturbing, little more than a racket for powerful perverted men to use the vulnerable, ambitious, beautiful and callow without fear
of reprisal or prosecution. I personally have never been particularly enthralled by movies but if Hollywood is simply a huge brothel funded by movie profits no wonder the products are so bad.

I agree very much with the assessment that Hollywood has become a role model for our children. Probably even for some of us but have rehabilitated. I believe there is a much better role model but that is just me.

How can these Harvey Weinstein accusations cause chaos in Hollywood when it has been a chaotic climate since the beginning?

Couldn´t care less if all of "Hollywood" (in the many places it is located) met the same deserving fate as Sodom & Gomorrah. Couldn´t happen to a better crowd that worked hard to earn their fate and the wrath of God.

Hard to say which came first in this chicken/egg scenario. Do powerful men take advantage of sweet innocent women ... or do conniving women see the power and are drawn to it? No one yet has stated old, fat pock-marked Harvey ripped their clothes off or even drugged them like Cosby. Seems the ladies dropped their garments willingly ... or at least as a bribe that often worked!

Hollywood keeps braying about "their art". Seems to me we are witnessing the real art in Hollywood and that is the oldest profession in the world is alive and well and thriving in that community. Their sanctimonious rants on everything from weather to women´s rights is a joke. Who are they to lecture anyone on with their wrongheaded opinions. They have zero moral authority, but I´ll give them this, they have loud mouths and a whole lot of hubris. I seldom go to a movie and see no reason to alter that decision. Why put money in the pockets of pervers and sexual abusers? Ashley Judd is especially hypocritical with her cowardice in the face of real sexual abuse....some feminist. She is like all the others...willing to do whatever was necessary to get the right break.

condemn this type of behavior when we see it

Yes, because only when others are present and actually SEE a girl, against her wishes, watching Harvey Weinstein take a shower and when others actually SEE Harvey Weinstein try to force a young actress up to his hotel room, swearing by his children he´s not going to do something he´s used to like groping her breasts, THEN Ben and his ilk can condemn this behavior. Because of course until that happens, like Lanny Davis would say, "There is no POOF."

and help ensure there are more women in positions of power

Why? So women in power can force men to watch them take showers? Is it a given that ALL men in power merely want to take advantage of women and get away with it for years because people like Ben who KNEW it was happening would enable the behavior?

I get it Ben; because Harvey Weinstein was a KNOWN pervert and got away with being a KNOWN pervert by the Great Land of Pretend (including YOU), ALL men would do the same thing and only a woman in power would prevent it.

I was watching a report on the Weinstein situation yesterday and I was suddenly reminded of that deep cut track on the Eagles´ "Long Run" album called "The King of Hollywood." If they weren´t singing about Weinstein specifically, they were certainly singing about a predatory culture that has existed in the film industry for decades.

Let´s take a look. Is the decadence any different, less disgusting, or wide spread than it has been lo these many years in that beautiful place, "Hollywood"? So, what else is new? These people have been swapping wives and husbands, taking drugs, posturing for an admiring public, and covering up this kind of behavior since the days of Mac Sennett and Cecil B. DeMille.

Now, when the bloated carcass becomes available, who feasts on it like the carrion creatures that they are, the rest of the Hollywood elite. The Meryl Streeps, and the rest of the vultures who used to join in the "glamour" of this swolen pathetic former icon, Weinstein, now treat him like a pinata for the preservation of their own "star" status.

I haven´t seen a movie for more than 20 years so I don´t have a dog in this hunt. But let me add this one admonishment: A plague on ALL of your houses.

Harvey Weinstein sexual-assault scandal

She didn’t name names, but when Monica Lewinsky joined the viral online campaign against sexual harassment Sunday by retweeting #MeToo, the first person who came to mind was President Bill Clinton. Therein lies the problem for the Clintons with the Harvey Weinstein sexual-harassment scandal: It hits perilously close to home. Not only was Mr. Weinstein a political ally and a major donor to the Clintons and the Clinton Foundation, but his alleged sexual misconduct has refocused attention on Mr. Clinton’s own checkered past as the tide turns against powerful men who take advantage of women. “The question is on everyone’s lips: how

Jimmy Kimmel deserves credit for frankness, if nothing else. In an interview over the weekend, the ABC late-night host said he doesn’t care about losing Republican viewers. We’re a long way from Johnny Carson, whose “Tonight Show” was a national institution that enjoyed a broad audience — and was conducted like one. Carson steered clear of politics and kept his views to himself because delving into divisive politics would “hurt me as an entertainer, which is what I am.” Kimmel may be an entertainer, but he has no such inhibitions. He is willing to say “not good riddance, but riddance,” as he

LOS ANGELES — Harvey Weinstein is certainly not the first powerful man publicly and credibly accused of sexually harassing or abusing women in recent years. Since 2015, the Fox News chairman Roger Ailes, the Fox News prime-time host Bill O’Reilly and the comedian and actor Bill Cosby have suffered professional, financial or reputational setbacks after numerous women told stories of their sexual misconduct. Those stories dominated news cycles, to be sure, but the outcry accompanying Mr. Weinstein’s downfall seems louder and more impassioned — perhaps because Mr. Weinstein’s accusers include stars like Ashley Judd, Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Paltrow. “I think this is

In an interview with the BBC published early Sunday, the director Woody Allen addressed the wave of allegations against Harvey Weinstein, calling it “tragic for the poor women” but also warning against a “witch hunt atmosphere.” Those comments drew harsh criticism on social media, and on Sunday night Mr. Allen released a statement calling Mr. Weinstein “a sad, sick man.” Mr. Allen’s initial comments to the BBC were published on the heels of Mr. Weinstein’s expulsion from the Motion Picture Academy on Saturday. A collective jaw dropped this week as Asia Argento, Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, Mira Sorvino, Rosanna Arquette and a host of other women joined Ashley Judd and Rose McGowan in speaking publicly about being harassed, mauled and even allegedly raped by Hollywood’s heavyweight gorilla, Harvey Weinstein. Media outlets ironically wrung their hands and asked in big, bold block letters: How could this have gone on for so long? If everyone knew, why didn’t anyone say anything? Harvey Weinstein’s alleged assault and harassment of the countless women who’ve now spoken out against him—not to mention the many others likely still preparing to come forward—was evil in a very specific, individual way. As co-founder of Miramax and The Weinstein Company, his apparent intimidation, coercion, and rape of actresses and employees were heinous offenses, and should be judged—by which I mean condemned—in their own right. He was, by all media accounts, a monster who used his power and influence to terrorize, all in order to satisfy his perverse sexual desires. His fall from grace is justly deserved. New York activist Tamika Mallory says she was booted from an American Airlines flight in Miami after a pilot inserted himself into a dispute over her seat assignment. Mallory, a co-chair of the Women’s March on Washington, was traveling home to New York when the pilot followed her to scold her over an argument she had with a gate agent. He then had her summoned from her seat and kicked off the flight, she told the Daily News. “It definitely was white male aggression. I was singled out, I was disrespected, and he was trying to intimidate me. I was

Jane Fonda made it clear she is not proud of America. During a recent interview with the BBC, Fonda was asked, "Are you proud of America today?" The actress was very quick to reply with a hard "no." "But, I’m proud of the resistance," she elaborated. "I’m proud of the people who are turning out in unprecedented numbers and continue over and over and over again to protest what Trump is doing. I’m very proud of them, that core." During the same interview, the 79-year-old was asked if she had a "sense of regret" for her visit to North Vietnam in 1972. The

Hillary Clinton on Sunday defended NFL players who knelt during the national anthem, saying kneeling is a “reverent” position that is not against “our anthem or our flag.” The former Democratic presidential candidate, who was at the Southbank Centre´s London Literature Festival, urged Democrats to use the issue against President Trump. Clinton was embarking on a foreign trip to promote her book “What Happened.” She said people should resist “what are very clear dog-whistles” to the Trump base, pointing to the example of kneeling NFL players. “That´s what black athletes kneeling was all about,” she said in response to a question about ways to

If the NFL thought Americans would ease the backlash against the league — they were sadly mistaken. Photos of empty stadiums from around the league show how dire a situation kneelers have spurred. (Photo) Breitbart News reports: Note, that the Jets played New England on Sunday, meaning there should have been a big crowd for that game. The Texans, Atlanta, and Baltimore are also very relevant teams with relatively loyal fan bases. Yet, thousands upon thousands of fans no-showed or didn’t buy tickets for those games. Sen. John McCain warned against the US turning toward ´half-baked, spurious nationalism´ and jabbed at unnamed pushers of isolationist politics while at an event honoring the war hero´s contributions. (Snip) ´To abandon the ideals we have advanced around the globe, to refuse the obligations of international leadership for the sake of some half-baked, spurious nationalism cooked up by people who would rather find scapegoats than solve problems, is as unpatriotic as an attachment to any other tired dogma of the past that Americans consigned to the ash heap of history,´ he said. He added: ´We live in a land made of

Tuesday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” host Joe Scarborough said President Donald Trump was the “antithesis” of the teachings of Jesus Christ. Scarborough said, “You look in Matthew, and go through the Beatitudes. Every single Beatitude. You go through Jesus’s teaching. What he says he wants people to be. Donald Trump is the antithesis of just about every single thing that Jesus Christ said on the Sermon on the Mount. Go read it.” He added, “None of us are perfect, but he goes out of his way it seems to thumb his nose at all conventions. Including the basics of
