LONDON - Sally Jones, a British jihadi who recruited online for the Islamic State group, has been killed in Syria by a U.S. drone along with her 12-year-old son, The Sun newspaper reported on Thursday. A convert to Islam from southern England, Jones was nicknamed the “White Widow” by the British press after her jihadi husband Junaid Hussain, also an IS militant, was killed by a drone in 2015. Quoting a British intelligence source who had been briefed by U.S. counterparts, The Sun reported that Jones and her son had been killed in June close to Syria’s border with Iraq, as she

Donald Trump has sparked outrage after linking the recent rise in crime in England to ´Radical Islamic terror´. Crime in England and Wales has soared by 13 per cent in a year with an even bigger rise in violent offences including knife crime and sexual offences. But the President tweeted this morning ´We must keep American safe´ in response to the figures. He wrote: ´Just out report: "United Kingdom crime rises 13% annually amid spread of Radical Islamic terror." Not good, we must keep America safe!´ Forces registered 5.2 million crimes in the year to the end of June, which was up by 13%

Former US Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama both attacked incumbent President Donald Trump without naming their successor. Former President Obama said at a campaign rally in Virginia: "We´ve got folks who are deliberately trying to make folks angry, to demonize people who have different ideas, to get the base all riled up because it provides a short-term tactical advantage." "If you have to win a campaign by dividing people, you’re not going to be able to govern them. You won’t be able to unite them later if that’s how you start," Obama added. Some people have too much time on their hands and so it was that one particular intellectual thought it was time to bring down Elie Wiesel a peg or two. In an article that ran with too many words – even one would have been too much – the intellectual accused Wiesel of putting up a false front; that in order to make himself more appealing, Wiesel (who left us last year) downplayed his anger over his suffering at Auschwitz, both as a public figure and namely in his ground-breaking memoir, “Night.” That’s the accusation. The U.S. Senate probably will confirm President Donald Trump’s pick to lead the Federal Reserve, but the process won’t be free of drama. Any of the five candidates Trump is considering for Fed chairman risk some uncomfortable moments before lawmakers. But each seems likely to secure the 51 votes needed to win confirmation, according to congressional aides, lobbyists and analysts. Trump is expected to make a final decision by Nov. 3, choosing between current Fed Chair Janet Yellen, National Economic Council Director Gary Cohn, Fed Board Governor Jerome Powell, former Fed Governor Kevin Warsh or Stanford University economist John Taylor. TOKYO — Have North Korea’s nuclear tests become so big that they’ve altered the geological structure of the land? Some analysts now see signs that Mount Mantap, the 7,200-foot-high peak under which North Korea detonates its nuclear bombs, is suffering from “tired mountain syndrome.” The mountain visibly shifted during the last nuclear test, an enormous detonation that was recorded as a 6.3 magnitude earthquake in North Korea’s northeast. Since then, the area, which is not known for natural seismic activity, has had three more quakes. “What we are seeing from North Korea looks like some kind of stress in the ground,” said

U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley lashed out at Russia´s efforts to "sow chaos" in recent elections during a Thursday conference hosted by the George W. Bush Institute. The tale of Harvey Weinstein is now a thread that has tangled its way through Hollywood, connecting women, mostly actresses, in a depressingly common way. We all seem to have a Harvey story, each one a little different but with essentially the same nauseating pattern and theme. Women were bullied, cajoled, manipulated, and worse, and then punished. My Harvey story is different, mostly because of timing. I was in one of the first films that Weinstein produced. I accepted a supporting role in a small movie based on “Loser Takes All,” the short novel by Graham Greene. I was twenty years
