These stirring images captured in war-torn Afghanistan give a rare insight into life on the frontline. One image, taken by Australian photographer Gary Ramage, shows medics desperately fighting to save the life of a wounded marine as he makes his way to hospital via helicopter. In another, a small girl can be seen looking on as a soldier takes aim at a suspected Taliban fighter in Helmand Province. Further photos show medics hosing down a medical helicopter after it has been used to transport a wounded soldier. ´I am a combat photographer who has seen too much death,´ Ramage writes

There is an image of a helicopter crewman cleaning the floor of the aircraft after picking up wounded soldiers. When I saw it, my mind immediately took me to Randall Jarrell´s short poem, "Death of the Ball Turrent Gunner, from WWII (look it up) the final line, "...When I died they washed me out of the turret with a hose."
The article is good, but the writer seems to think that the photographer suffers as much as the combat soldiers. No, not true.

His explosion triggered aftershocks within eight minutes, hitting structures in a nearby village. News of the deaths emerged today after there were three more shocks following the underground test back in September, according to the Sunday Express. Back and forth it goes. President Trump says he had it in the bag, but turned it down, so far as being named TIME magazine’s person of the year, 2017. Never happened, say the magazine’s editors. Trump was never in the running. Why Trump cares about this in the first place is a mystery. In case he forgot, he was last year’s choice. Anyway, he is the president for the next four years…and hopefully the next eight years…so what’s the big deal? I mean, who cares about 2017? It’s been a rotten year. Best forgotten once it’s gone.
