I went to Hollywood when I was 23. I had made a low-budget film, won an award at a prestigious festival, scored an agent and made a TV deal all within six months. It was a fairy tale most people will never experience, and I knew, as well as a 23-year-old can know anything, that I was getting a pretty great deal. I bounced from meeting to meeting with the joy of Cinderella at the ball. These meetings, almost always with men, were rife with acts of everyday sexism — the presumption that I must want to make small “intimate” movies,
Comments: I find it hard to believe that Lena Dunham was ever sex-harassed.
One could say this takes the cake, but Lena has assuredly already taken that. Every single one of these "progressive" men and women has eagerly put their slavish allegiance to the destructive Democrat party ahead of any moral decency, honesty, or actual concern for any victim of "sexual harassment" (in scare quotes because we must never let them determine what words mean). Remember Dunham´s repugnant campaign ad for Lightbringer, equating voting for him with sex? Most notable here is what she refuses to demand: accountability for the Clintons and Obamas. Why would that be, Lena? "Progressives" are always silent in the face of moral decline - because they´re the ones enabling it.
Lena seriously needs an editor. This rambling piece tells us what--that Hollywood is sexist? Duh! Here´s a question for her: Aren´t the women who take off their clothes for the camera and enact sex scenes (for her, too)at least a little bit complicit?
The stories of the casting couch have been around since Silent Movies, how many stories are there about even the heads of the old studios, never mind the directors. Young girls have been flooding California since the 1920´a trying to be famous and rich. And no one outs these guys until they are dead. Goo for Kim Novak telling Jack Warner where to go-but many did not want to give up their contracts and "dreams" and all the years of sacrifice. This is such an old, old story of Hollywood. Weinstein is not alone, and never mind the past, there are plenty of these guys still around. (note: I have a few relatives in the business)
What does Lena Dunham expect of men who were not the object of Weinstein´s lust, but only heard about it second hand from the grape vine? Women, on the other hand, have either been hustled by Weinstein himself or a reasonable facsimile, which in Hollywood are legion. Women know first hand, men only hear the tail end (no pun meant) of the gossip.
I don´t like this woman, but she is right about this. then she says she didn´t want to appear with him because he was so awful, but decided she could do it for Hillary´s sake. In other words, she blames other woman for putting up with it for their own reasons, and then put up with it for Hillary´s sake. that´s why this works, folks.
Lena the way you romped around nude on the set of Girls would give the impression you were easy to hit on. Is that a good message to send out to men like Harvey Weinstein? I do doubt Harvey would hit on you, I’m just saying. You also mock men are wary of losing “Good Graces” with Harvey if they came forward. Well how come this doesn’t apply to your idol Hillary who has not come forward, does she fear losing “Good Graces” from Harvey, or could it be his campaign donation money? Could it be Hillary does not want to return the campaign money. If so then her wonderful slogan she used as running for President “I’m With Her” just imploded.
The more than 100 million trees that died in California after being weakened by drought and insect infestations have transformed large swaths of the Sierra Nevada into browned-out tree cemeteries. In some areas more than 90 percent of trees are dead. This week a group of scientists warned in the journal BioScience that the dead trees could produce wildfires on a scale and of an intensity that California has never seen. Coming in the aftermath of the deadly and destructive fires last year both in wine country and Southern California, the warning is sobering because the scientists say they cannot even calculate
What comes around, goes around for the community organizer who became POTUS. Most embarrassingly, the dispute that caused Alinsky-esque assault on black politicians was over the division of spoils among the black community itself. John Byrne reports in the Chicago Tribune: An attempt by some African-American Chicago aldermen to publicly praise ObamaPresidential Center designers for hiring minority contractors ran into shouts of “Shame on you!” by a group that wants a community benefits agreement to protect residents living near Jackson Park. The dueling news conferences Wednesday by the City Council Black Caucus and activists came after the Obama foundation announced
Far from content living his golden years on the $400,000 speech and lecture circuit of other former presidents, President Obama has been busy with clawing back for his old power. He´s actually covertly plotting to oust his democratically elected successor, President Trump, vowing to his associates to "rip him a new one," in the 2018 midterm elections. Seems he´s not all that interested in watching his youngest daughter grow up. That´s the word from DCWhispers, which reports that Obama´s Kalorama mansion, in the heart of the capital´s most tony district, is the center of significant comings and goings among the Obamatons,
Busy Bee’s is a popular destination for parents of young children in the Washington, D.C. area. Its two locations are especially packed on cold days thanks to its indoor playgrounds that include balloon pits, swinging chairs and slides. No doubt there are play concepts like Busy Bee’s all over the U.S., just as there are businesses similar to it throughout D.C. For older kids and parents, Dave & Buster’s locations can be found nationwide. Each has bowling, arcade games, countless televisions showing live sports, plus fairly broad eating options. For those who want a quieter place to work, stage a
Another special election, another Republican loss. This time, Wisconsin held a special election for a state Senate seat in a solidly red western district – and its solidly Republican candidate lost to a Democrat. What is going on? The media were positively gleeful at Republicans´ alarm when GOP assemblyman Adam Jarchow unexpectedly lost to chief medical examiner and Democrat Patty Schachtner in Wisconsin´s 10th Senate District by around 44% to 55%. Unexpected defeat in rural Wisconsin special election sets off alarm bells for Republicans, wrote the Washington Post. Democrats grab key Wisconsin Senate seat in Tuesday´s special elections, wrote the
Paul Krugman, who really, really, really wants you to know on his Twitter account that he´s a Nobel laureate in economics, has made a name for himself for his bad economic forecasts. So bad, in fact, that President Trump and the Republican Party have awarded him their top spot in their 2017 Fake News Awards, writing: [Twenty seventeen] was a year of unrelenting bias, unfair news coverage, and even downright fake news. Studies have shown that over 90% of the media´s coverage of President Trump is negative. Below are the winners of the 2017 Fake News Awards. 1. The New York Times´ Paul Krugman
The latest black support numbers for President Trump are interesting but not surprising: Two new polls show President Donald Trump´s rising support among black voters, highlighting his political gains from pushing employers to hire Americans instead of lower-wage migrants. The growing support from blacks – despite furious Democratic claims of racism – could become a shocking political validation in November when Trump will face millions of upper-income Democratic voters who are angry at his "Buy American, Hire American" policies. Among black men, Trump´s "2017 average approval rating significantly exceeds his
Something good is happening in Congress these days. Instead of rolling over for Democrats and virtuously claiming they´ve "reached across the aisle," as they always have done, Republicans are now playing hardball. They´ve maneuvered to put entitlements and swing state-sensitive tax cuts on the line as bargaining chips to avoid a government shutdown. In doing this, they have just laid out a plan to beat the Democrats at their own game. According to Wednesday´s front-pager in the New York Times: WASHINGTON — With little hope of an immigration agreement this week, Republicans in Congress are looking to head off a
James O´Keefe´s Project Veritas undercover video project has discovered that Big Brother is alive and well, and living on Market Street in San Francisco, in a beautifully restored 1.1-million-square-foot art deco masterpiece formerly known as the Western Furniture Exchange and Merchandise Mart. O´Keefe´s latest video reveals that Twitter – according to its own employees – is paying "hundreds of people" to examine "private" messages sent by Twitter users to one another. The nine-and-a-half-minute video ought to be enough to convince anyone to avoid using Twitter for any messages that might cause embarrassment to the sender. The blackmail potential revealed is stunning,
Dolores O´Riordan, the lead singer of the Cranberries, has died at age 46, and across the musical and political spectra, there is cause for mourning. She was a stunning talent, with one of the most exquisite voices in rockdom – slightly metallic, musical as a bell, grinding, passionate, and fascinatingly Irish in accent. Her songs and videos were as beautiful as she was: lithe, sinewy, manic, melodic. Her lyrics were poetic and surprisingly sophisticated. With a great band and great songs, of course she was destined to become a big rock star in the 1990s, that transition period before just rap
Be prepared for frank sentiments about the terminology that Senator Dick Durbin alleges that President Trump employed in a private conversation. The comments below originally appeared on a forum for people from the Igala Tribe in Nigeria but were loaded onto YouTube yesterday. The Igala people I have known have been very smart, and successful in this country. Warning: The same vulgar term alleged to have been used by President Trump is frequently employed. I wonder what Maxine Waters would say if she watched this?
TODASANA, Venezuela — With its oil industry floundering, Venezuela is searching for a new engine of growth for an economy in free fall. The embattled socialist government thinks it has an answer: a future built not only on drilling and roughnecks but also on beach umbrellas and piña coladas. “Tourism is the oil that never runs out,” Marleny Contreras, the nation’s tourism minister, recently proclaimed. Yet for a country saddled with the world’s highest inflation rate and rampant violence, becoming a tourist paradise may be as improbable as a new Disney theme park in Damascus. Amid severe scarcities of basic goods, some hotels
WASHINGTON- President Donald Trump relentlessly congratulates himself for the healthy state of the U.S. economy, with its steady growth, low unemployment, busier factories and confident consumers. But in the year since Trump´s inauguration, most analysts tend to agree on this: The economy remains essentially the same sturdy one he inherited from Barack Obama.Growth has picked up, but it´s not yet clear if it can sustain a faster expansion. Hiring and wage growth actually slowed slightly from Obama´s last year in office. Consumers and businesses are much more optimistic, but their spending has yet to move meaningfully higher. "I don´t see any
Republicans are slamming Democratic Sen. Cory Booker for “mansplaining” to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen in a sharp and one-sided exchange Wednesday before a Senate committee. The New Jersey lawmaker blasted Nielsen´s "silence and amnesia" after failing to get the response he sought on her recollection of statements President Trump made in a meeting last week. Booker´s hostile tone prompted Republican National Committee Rapid Response Director Michael Ahrens to invoke the millennial term for males talking down to women.
After leaving office, President Ronald Reagan created the Ronald Reagan Freedom Award to recognize individuals who have fought to spread liberty worldwide. Nancy Reagan continued the tradition after her husband’s death, and in 2008 she bestowed the honor on human rights icon Natan Sharansky, who credited Reagan’s strong defense of freedom for his own survival in Soviet gulags. Reagan recognized that as leader of the free world, his words carried enormous weight, and he used it to inspire the unprecedented spread of democracy around the world. President Donald Trump does not seem to understand that his rhetoric and actions reverberate in
A review of a classified document outlining what is described as extensive Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act abuse was made available to all House members Thursday and the revelations could lead to the removal of senior officials in the FBI and Department of Justice, several sources with knowledge of the document stated. These sources say the report is “explosive,” stating they would not be surprised if it leads to the end of Robert Mueller’s Special Counsel investigation into President Trump and his associates. The House Intelligence Committee passed the motion along party lines Thursday to make the classified report alleging extensive
Men can now look forward to a liberated future of wearing dresses. One such fashion designer, Alejandro Gomez Palomo of Spain, is helping to rush in that new era. According to the 25-year-old Palomo, whose public appearance looks as if Dracula spent a weekend at Liberace´s house, gender fluidity is a way of life he hopes that future men can share. In an interview with AFP, Palomo likened his fashion revolution to the ones ushered by Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent in the 20th century. "Chanel liberated women (after World War I) by dressing them in male fabrics like tweed,"
Pope Francis has conferred the title of “Commander of the Pontifical Equestrian Order of St. Gregory the Great” on Lilianne Ploumen, a Dutch politician and vocal agitator for abortion rights. Last year, Ploumen founded a pro-abortion organization called She Decides, which offers funding and support for international NGOs that provide, facilitate or campaign for abortion. In an email to the Catholic Herald, Ms. Ploumen said that she was “very honoured” by the pontifical medal, which was sent via the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs last month. In an interview with Dutch radio, Ploumen said she views the honor as a
Obama’s current office, which is run by former de facto President Valerie Jarrett, is just a mile or so from the White House. It is at that location one sees a daily procession of donors, political operatives, party affiliates (BOTH Democrat and Republican) media friends (of which there are many) and more shadowy figures representing a myriad of foreign interests. And each day this office and its two primary inhabitants – Obama and Jarrett, are asked the same question: WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO ABOUT TRUMP? Obama being Obama, with his solar-system-sized ego intact, has been promising to do
The House Intel panel’s passage of New York Republican Rep. Peter King’s motion to release the FISA abuse memo to fellow House members has rocked Washington, D.C. (Photo) Lawmakers from Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) to Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY) have called for the classified memo’s immediate release. According to Fox News contributor Sara Carter, the contents of the memo are so “explosive,” that it could end special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe once and for all.Former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino warned the release of the FISA report will destroy the image of his former boss Barack Obama.“Take it to
California lawmakers are targeting the expected windfall companies in the state would see under the federal tax overhaul with a bill that would require businesses to turn over half to the state. A proposed Assembly Constitutional Amendment by Assemblymen Kevin McCarty, D -Sacramento and Phil Ting, D-San Francisco, would create a tax surcharge on California companies making more than $1 million so that half of their federal tax cut would instead go to programs that benefit low-income and middle class families.
Microwaves are as damaging to the environment as cars and users must be taught how to cook more efficiently, scientists say. The ovens are responsible for 7.7 million tons of the carbon dioxide pumped out from the EU each year — the equivalent of 6.8 million cars. Researchers say they are fueling global warming with consumers overcooking food to blame. Microwaves account for the largest percentage of sales of all types of oven in the EU, with numbers set to reach 135 million by 2020. But scientists at the University of Manchester — the first to assess the environmental impact
In an exclusive interview with Utah Gov. Gary Herbert, FOX Business was told that Romney, the 2012 Republican presidential nominee, will likely receive the backing of mega-donors, not just within Utah, but across the country as he gets ready to announce his candidacy. “He’s given me every indication that he’s running. He’ll have a lot of support from the wealthy people that he knows from when he ran for president. The people on the same list of donors that he had before for 2012, including those from Utah, is a very good place for him to raise money,” Herbert, a
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Tuesday condemned President Trump’s combative attitude toward the press and called on Congress to protect journalists worldwide. “Whether Trump knows it or not, these efforts are being closely watched by foreign leaders who are already using his words as cover as they silence and shutter one of the key pillars of democracy,” McCain said in an opinion piece published in The Washington Post. McCain called the Trump administration’s treatment of journalists “inconsistent at best and hypocritical at worst,” particularly when it comes to condemning attacks on the press abroad. McCain cited foreign leaders who have
