New California law allows jail

California health care workers who “willfully and repeatedly” decline to use a senior transgender patient´s “preferred name or pronouns” could face punishments ranging from a fine to jail time under a newly signed law. California Gov. Jerry Brown signed the legislation last week. The sponsor, Democratic state Sen. Scott Wiener, has argued adamantly that nobody is going to be criminally prosecuted for using the wrong pronoun. (Snip) The law states that if provisions are violated, the violator could be punished by a fine “not to exceed one thousand dollars” or “by imprisonment in the county jail for a period not to exceed

Comments:
The law clearly states up to $1,000 fine and up to 1 year in jail - or Both. A judge or jury throwing someone in prison would be claim to be following the law as it is written.

They´ll be given the max punishment and THEN charged with a "hate crime" on top of this.

If Mr. Weiner is not a liar he´s a complete idiot.

Give the government authority, and it will be used.

My apologies to Kevin Costner in "Field of Dreams," which is indeed fantasy, Mr. Weiner, but the above statement is emphatically not.

However -- of course -- Mr. Weiner wants the government to have the authority to enforce these "new rights" (his words), and toward that end he wrote in the penalties.

He could have, but did not, write in anything such as, Nobody shall be criminally prosecuted for using the wrong pronoun.

In short, Mr. Weiner is a LIAR.

And, this only applies to "senior transgender patient´s?

More attacks on Christians and their 1st amendment right to act as their conscience dictates. As a commonsense filled Christian, I feel angry that the Left needs me to cave in to these people, even if it means I am angering God by doing so.

Just because you surgically mutilate yourself you still cannot change the fact that your DNA will forever make you what God intended. Men are men and women are women. You just cannot change that settled and basic fact of science.

#8 is right on the money. Some addled hospital bureaucrat could fire a worker for using the wrong pronoun with a patient -- hospitals can set rules for employees (BTW, just like NFL teams) -- but criminalizing such a "speech" error would be a patent violation of the First Amendment.

This law is DOA, even in the pervert-stocked Ninth Circuit.

The ovens are responsible for 7.7 million tons of the carbon dioxide pumped out from the EU each year — the equivalent of 6.8 million cars. Researchers say they are fueling global warming with consumers overcooking food to blame. Microwaves account for the largest percentage of sales of all types of oven in the EU, with numbers set to reach 135 million by 2020.
