NFL ticket prices plunge amid
backlash over players kneeling
during national anthem: Report

Washington Times, by Valerie Richardson

Original Article

NFL ticket prices have plummeted in the wake of the uproar over the national anthem protests, dropping for the first time this year below the 2016 season’s prices. An analysis released Friday by CNBC found that ticket prices during the first three games of the 2017 season enjoyed a 20-40 percent increase over last year, but then skidded in Week 4 and actually dropped by 2 percent in Week 5. The timing coincides with the uproar following President Trump’s criticism of the protests on Sept. 22, which prompted nearly 200 players to sit or take a knee during the national

I hope they have to drop prices, drop salaries and end up with an entirely new fan base who agree with them.

20-40% ticket price increase for 2017, then a 2% decline? I am not watching the NFL any longer. They have ignored the fans, sided with their players, and even after all this fiasco, have not acknowledged the fans. The ownership and management of the NFL have the sensitivity of a hard rock.

As this continues there will be a point where the CPAs will tell the owners this will bleed into their other business to keep it afloat.
That is when the team cuts will start.
Keep up the pressure.

I have been somewhat surprised that many moderate liberals that I am friends with have abandoned the NFL for the same reason many conservatives have. This is by all means NOT just a conservative cause. Even some liberal family members have had enough and are no longer watching the NFL. This is not going away any time soon. There are very good college games out there, every week, without any of the trumped up drama that has overtaken the NFL. I look forward to watching the powers that be squrim, as the NFL slowly sinks into the abyss!

The owners are convinced that they can ride this out - that in the end the rubes need this bread & circus spectacle and will learn to live with their annoyance over the national anthem. I´m doing my part by tuning ´em out, but I have a nagging feeling the owners will be proven right. Hope not, though.

All that fashionable sitting and kneeling smacks of smug elitism.

True lower-case L "liberals" wear their patriotism well. ( after the September 11 attacks, flags flu on newly everybody´s car and home in New York City - for quite a long time.)

Meanwhile the upper-case L "Left" loathes America.

One post mentioned "until they apologize".
Apologies won´t work for me. The problem is it´s a ´kneeling disease´ that infected the entire league with support from coaches and owners.
It´s bleeding down into college and soon will be in the high schools. Blacks have ruined football with their made up fear of oppression. I´m finish with all sports where blacks participate even at high school level. The kneeling disease is incurable until blacks decide to fix it but they won´t.

Anther morsel of irony: many if not all NFL teams saw the secondhand ticket market booming and decided to get in on the scalping party by establishing buyback schemes in order to resell tickets and create another revenue stream.

Since the resale market is much more sensitive to supply and demand (as opposed to full or partial season tickets) week to week, it is a better indicator of (ex) fan disgust with militant players.

They can do all of the apologizing and price reducing they like, this is a permanent problem for the NFL. Even liberals have figured out that blacks hate them too even though they have been appeasing and coddling them for decades. All that the blacks see is white skin. They have exposed themselves as the true racists. Maybe those 1600 players who are soon to be idle can contribute their huge salaries to the welfare and food stamp programs. That would be my definition of "fair."

The Black players are only hurting themselves! almost 90% players are black. more and more quarterbacks are black. Most college players are black. But liberals hate football and have been trying to diminish it for decades! The draconian equal expenditure for girls sports as well as boys sports law has cut back on boys sports , soccer instead of football. Concussion fears as well as the NFL protest has caused high schools to drop football!

Soon football will be diminished to level of Lacrosse and the black guys will be the big losers!

After heavy pressure from lawmakers and other stakeholders, EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt on Thursday night sided with pro-ethanol lawmakers and said his agency will abandon many controversial changes to the nation’s ethanol mandate — prompting a top biofuels leader to claim that Mr. Pruitt apparently has had an “epiphany” over the past few days. The board voted late Sunday to name David A. Thomas the college’s 12th president. (Snip) Thomas said in an interview with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution his goals include increasing enrollment from its current 2,200 students to 2,500 students, providing more scholarships, finding opportunities for every student to study abroad, supporting faculty research and engaging in issues that improve outcomes for African-American men, noting Morehouse “is a place where we can offer solutions to those issues.”

Mogadishu, Somalia — The most powerful bomb blast ever witnessed in Somalia´s capital killed 276 people with around 300 others injured, the country´s information minister said early Monday, making it the deadliest single attack in this Horn of Africa nation. The toll was expected to rise. In a tweet, Abdirahman Osman called the attack "barbaric" and said countries including Turkey and Kenya had already offered to send medical aid. Hospitals were overwhelmed a day after a truck bomb targeted a crowded street near key government ministries, including foreign affairs. As angry protesters gathered near the scene of the attack, Somalia´s

Lost in the uproar over the NFL sideline protests against police brutality are newly released statistics showing that the threat to black men is skyrocketing — not from trigger-happy or racist cops, but from crime. More than any other demographic group, black men are paying the price with their lives with a surging violent crime rate over the past two years, including a 20 percent jump in the overall homicide rate, even as the number of blacks killed by police declines. Using homicide figures from the 2016 FBI Uniform Crime Report released Sept. 25, Manhattan Institute fellow Heather Mac Donald

A 39-year-old man in the country illegally pleaded guilty Thursday to causing a traffic crash that killed a Johnson County sheriff’s deputy last year. Adrian Espinosa-Flores, 39, pleaded guilty to a charge of reckless second-degree murder in the death of Master Deputy Brandon Collins. Collins was killed on Sept. 11, 2016, while conducting a traffic stop on U.S. 69 just north of 151st Street in Overland Park. Collins’ patrol vehicle was parked when a pickup truck driven by Espinosa-Flores ran into the back of Collins’ vehicle, pushing it into the SUV that the deputy had pulled over.

Former President George W. Bush offered an unmistakable denunciation of Trumpism Thursday without mentioning the president by name, urging citizens to oppose threats to American democracy. “Bigotry seems emboldened. Our politics seems more vulnerable to conspiracy theories and outright fabrication,” Bush warned in remarks at the Bush Institute’s Spirit of Liberty event in New York. By chance, Bush was standing in the same spot at the Time Warner Center where former President Barack Obama made a similar plea for democracy and American leadership in late September, shortly after President Donald Trump had finished a belligerent, isolationist speech to the United Nations

Former President George W. Bush said Thursday that “bigotry seems emboldened” in the United States, warning that Americans need to reject “white supremacy.” The former president also criticized the “governing class,” but did not specifically mention President Trump, Congress or any other politicians in office. “Discontent deepened and sharpened partisan conflicts” in recent years, Bush said in remarks from New York City at a forum focused on security and sponsored by the George W. Bush Institute.

George W. Bush hinted Thursday at his dissatisfaction with Donald Trump, complaining in a New York City speech that ´bullying and prejudice´ has become a caustic norm in American public life. At an event hosted by the George W. Bush Institute, the 43rd U.S. president rattled off a thinly veiled litany of complaints about the current commander-in-chief, focusing on both his tone and his isolationist policy choices. ´Our young people need positive role models,´ he said. ´Bullying and prejudice in our public life sets a national tone, provides permission for cruelty and bigotry, and compromises the moral education of children.´

Hillary Clinton admits she “really tried to get out of going” to President Trump’s inauguration. The former first lady and failed Democratic presidential nominee said on BBC One’s “The Graham Norton Show” that she asked the remaining former presidents if they were going to the Jan. 20 inauguration in an effort to justify not showing up herself. “I really tried to get out of going,” Mrs. Clinton said. “We thought ‘OK, maybe others aren’t going.’” She explained that it’s tradition for former presidents and first ladies to attend a presidential inauguration, regardless of party, to show “support” and “continuity of

A Massachusetts elementary school has canceled its Halloween events and is celebrating ´black and orange spirit day´ instead. Boyden Elementary School´s principal sent a letter to parents this week saying that it had decided to cancel its traditional Halloween parade on October 31 because it was ´not inclusive of all students´ and was ´difficult´ for many. Without specifying which students the parade excluded, Principal Brendan Dearborn said the school would instead hold a ´black and orange spirit day´.  Children are allowed to dress in those colors but cannot come to school in costume. They are however allowed to wear costumes to an

For fark’s sake. The guy’s accused of rape, by more than one woman. What sort of behavior does she think “invited” that? Even his somewhat less egregious offenses are inexplicable in terms of an invitation. Does anyone think Lauren Sivan put out the vibe upon meeting famous Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein that she was hoping to watch him furtively whack it into a potted plant in a dark corner of an empty restaurant kitchen? The more aggressive harassment is, the harder it is to explain in terms of a misconstrued female “invitation.” Actual assault is plainly indefensible, yet here’s Eddie

Former President George W. Bush emerged from retirement on Thursday to stage a broad attack on President Donald Trump and the movement that supports him. Without mentioning Trump by name, Bush accused him of “casual cruelty” in political discourse, of distorting nationalism into “nativism,” and of emboldening bigotry and white supremacy. He called for a renewed commitment to American global leadership and domestic citizenship. It was a call to national unity — against Trump and his supporters, who were reduced to labels and caricatures: “protectionism,” “isolationist sentiments,” and the like. “Too often, we judge other groups by their worst examples
