Captured ISIS Fighters’ Refrain:
‘I Was Only a Cook’

New York Times, by Rod Nordland

Kirkuk, Iraq - Thousands of civilians fleeing the Iraqi military’s push to evict the Islamic State from its last major urban stronghold in Iraq now include hundreds of suspected fighters for the extremist group, dirty and disheveled, who arrive at checkpoints claiming innocence and begging for mercy. (Snip) “Yes, tell them you’re ISIS,” the corporal said, brandishing a pipe in the prisoner’s face. “Don’t lie.” Mr. Hassan hung his head and admitted it, then looked up. “I was only a cook.” The lieutenant laughed good-naturedly. “Tens of them tell me they were cooks,” he said. “They had so many cooks, you’d think all they did was eat.”

Comments:
For all the cruelty and killing of Kurds by Daesh, one would hope that they both have a good laugh before the Kurd says, "Well, your goose is cooked". Of course, they may have never seen a goose in that part of the world, so they should have a cook-off, like "The Great Daesh Chef" and whittle the numbers down till there´s only the finalist. Prize? 72 raisins. A simple test would be to spray that stuff that checks for gunshot residue.

So he´s admitting he is the one who lit the fire under the cage of captured civilians?

He needs to be wrapped in bacon and buried in pig fat.

FTA: " they are being aggressively interrogated."

Probably more aggressively and effective than a US interrogations.

Just check them for gun power residue. The ones with positive results need additional "aggressive" interrogation.

George Will, so-called voice of the conservatives — but really, spokesman for the establishment of the Republican Party — slammed President Donald Trump on national television as an idiot. And he did it in that quasi-clever English style of feigning compliment while poking sarcastic fun. Gotta love the English sense of humor, right? This is GOP elitism, at its finest. Will was asked by MSNBC’s Chuck Todd about the ongoing media coverage of Trump’s treatment of veterans — a story that included the president’s supposed cavalier treatment of a widowed wife of a killed soldier, as well as Trump’s promised

Senate defeats Rand Paul’s

Washington Times, by David Sherfinski    Original Article

The Senate on Thursday soundly rejected Sen. Rand Paul’s attempt to cut $43 billion in defense spending out of the 2018 budget plan, after he had pitched it as a way to try to rein in government spending even further. Mr. Paul’s amendment failed on a 5-95 vote, with GOP Sens. Steve Daines of Montana, Jeff Flake of Arizona, James Lankford of Oklahoma, and Mike Lee of Utah voting with Mr. Paul. “We have a $20 trillion debt - it’s about whether we’re serious about tackling that debt,” Mr. Paul said, saying leaders plan to “hide” the additional money in a special war fund to get around mandatory spending caps.

New York - Almost three-quarters of Americans fear the US is to become involved in a “major conflict” in the next few years, according to a new survey. Amid escalating tensions with North Korea over its aggressive missile tests and development of nuclear warheads, combined with sabre-rattling from Donald Trump, 72 per cent of the population fears the country will become embroiled in such a war within four years. Most people believe the greatest threat to the US is from North Korea, followed by Isis and Russia. Only two per cent of people believe Iran is the greatest threat.

A popular graduation tradition at California’s Camarillo High School is about to come to an end because – well – because the grownups who run the school district are morons. For as far back as anyone can remember graduates wore gowns reflecting the school colors. The guys wore navy blue gowns and the gals wore blue gowns. But that tradition just got deep-sixed for the sake of gender inclusivity – and now graduates will only be allowed to wear one color that represents all genders. Washington - The number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits fell to its lowest level in more than 44 years last week, pointing to a rebound in job growth after a hurricane-related decline in employment in September. Initial claims for state unemployment benefits dropped 22,000 to a seasonally adjusted 222,000 for the week ended Oct. 14, the lowest level since March 1973, the Labor Department said on Thursday. Data for the prior week was revised to show 1,000 more applications received than previously reported. The tables have turned and what was once the media’s favorite message — President Donald Trump colluded with Russia to steal the election — has now grown silent. Apparently, it’s Bill and Hillary Clinton who’ve been doing the behind-scenes and suspicious dealings with Russia all along. Oh, and perhaps others in the Barack Obama administration, too. You think special counsel Robert Mueller might switch the target of his investigation any time soon? Seems a bit time-wasting — not to mention taxpayer dollar-wasting — to keep on the Trump trail, desperately searching for signs of a collusion that just didn’t happen. Futile is a word

Former President George W. By chance, Bush was standing in the same spot at the Time Warner Center where former President Barack Obama made a similar plea for democracy and American leadership in late September, shortly after President Donald Trump had finished a belligerent, isolationist speech to the United Nations
