Alarm as study reveals world’s tropical
forests are huge carbon emission source

Guardian [UK], by Jonathan Watts

Original Article

Posted By:Ribicon, 9/29/2017 1:27:58 AM

The world’s tropical forests are so degraded they have become a source rather than a sink of carbon emissions, according to a new study that highlights the urgent need to protect and restore the Amazon and similar regions. Researchers found that forest areas in South America, Africa and Asia – which have until recently played a key role in absorbing greenhouse gases – are now releasing 425 teragrams of carbon annually, which is more than all the traffic in the United States. (Snip) “This shows that we can’t just sit back. The forest is not doing what we thought it was doing,”

Science is a flexible marvel when you´ve got an agenda to peddle.

"The forest is not doing what we thought it was doing,” ... Yeah, and your "sophisticated"
climate models have failed, again and again to predict climate reality ... and now we see reports according to data from The Danish Meteorological Institute, since hitting its earliest minimum extent since 1997, Arctic sea ice has been expanding at a phenomenal rate. It is the fourth highest extent in the last ten years. Even more remarkably, ice growth since the start of the month is actually the greatest on record, since daily figures started to be kept in 1987.
As such, we are sick-to-death of these effin morons who are on a 24/7/365 mission to control all human energy-related activity on the planet. The know nothing and they can predict nothing except "The Sky is Falling"
over and over and over .... ENOUGH!

We just need to kill all of the people in these areas who are doing the deforesting. It would also help to solve some immigration problems.

Article is too vague. But MSM is not a realm of precision.

e.g. Carbon emissions come in many, many, many varieties. The big fuss is always about CO2.

If CO2 is what they meant then they should have said CO2.

Article says degradation and disturbance are major causes. Equally vague terms which tell us nothing.

´´The study went further than any of its predecessors in measuring the impact of disturbance and degradation – the thinning of tree density and the culling of biodiversity below an apparently protected canopy – usually as a result of selective logging, fire, drought and hunting.´´

Do scientists think they need to stop God from causing droughts? For the good of the world, they could confiscate guns. Scientists know best after all. [/s]

I really think if we put a bunch of enviro crazies in a venue on pay per view, we could settle the budget debt overnight. The entertainment value would be epic watching them try to explain this one away.

The US political class started the CO2 racket and keeps it alive today. They force us to pay billions every year to the UN which is another weapon used against us. It is the US political class that every year forces us to pay for unelected, unaccountable, above the law, UN criminal parasites. No UN personnel can be punished for any crime anywhere in the world. They all have immunity. US taxpayers are forced to finance mass rapists called peacekeepers who can rape all they want and are never punished.

´Disturbance´ is code for deforestation of the "lungs of the world". Once you deforest, what remains goes into rot mode, thus releasing CO2.

Alarmists look at the pieces and then predict the whole. The problem is, the whole picture doesn´t match what they predict. Their pieces don´t add up to the correct whole.

That means that either their piece is wrong or there are more pieces yet to find. Either way they are wrong.

So not as much carbon is being sequestered in the rain forest as expected. Alarmist urge "action". How about other forests and plants in the world? Are they more effective? No study will tell you because "all the other forests and plants" is too large to study.

In addition, the question is, "So what?". Alarmists have laid down predictions as carbon levels rise. Higher global temperatures - Satellites say no. Sea levels rising faster - no. Stronger and more frequent storms - despite the hurricane weather this year, the cyclonic energy measurements are not increasing. Massive ice melt - except in some specific areas, some with seafloor volcanoes, not so much.

If none of the Alarmist harbingers of disaster are occurring as CO2 levels rise, WHAT "action" is necessary? Will it really become a problem in the future?

The truthful answer is "No one really knows.". Should we spend $trillions on "actions" that are predicted to be ineffective anyway, even if the predictions are not accurate to begin with. A sensible person would not.

If someone said, "Your car is going to break down. Pay me $2000 a year to "fix" it.", would you? No details of why it would break down. No details of the kind of fix available and whether it would even be effective. Most people would accuse a peddler of such car calamities as a charlatan.

Alarm indeed, yet another in a long string of false alarms.

Here´s a REAL shocker for the science-challenged leftists... Trees are made from CO2! Yes, they really are! If tress are "good" then we need more CO2 to make more trees! It´s logically sound! It´s also against Global Warmists´ plan!

Another fact: Trees (all plants) give off CO2 at night. Logical conclusion: "Trees are bad! Cut down all trees!"

Remember when Global Warming became Climate Change? It was, as Ldotters followed, because the temperatures did not rise for several years the way the Warmers had insisted they would.

Here we also watched as researchers discovered that the oxygen production of the rain forests during daytime photosynthesis was mostly offset by the oxygen consumption during nighttime respiration.

This study represents their effort to hide the globalwarming-climatechange lie again, as they now admit that the planet´s ´lungs´ are not really so. But they´ve spun it to portray them as filters, instead of lungs, and to blame the change on human environmental destruction, not on the distortion of their model.

The truth slowly unfolds, as their cover story adapts to keep pace with their global-socialism agenda.

President Trump pressured congressional Democrats Saturday to drop their demands for amnesty for young illegal immigrants as part of a year-end spending deal, saying their insistence on protecting illegals is part of a liberal mindset that led to the death of Kate Steinle in San Francisco. “Unfortunately, Democrats in Congress not only oppose our efforts to stop illegal immigration and crack down on sanctuary cities,” Mr. Trump said in his weekly address. “Now they are demanding amnesty as a condition for funding the government, holding troop funding hostage and putting our national security at risk. We cannot allow it.”

Puerto Rico Gov. The governor’s aides say the bonuses are a longstanding tradition and part of the law, and were planned for in the budget approved last summer. But that budget came well before Hurricanes Irma and Maria slammed into Puerto Rico, leaving much of the territory in ruin and leaving the government begging for federal assistance. Elizabeth Shackelford, who most recently served as a political officer based in Nairobi for the U.S. mission to Somalia, wrote to Tillerson that she reluctantly had decided to quit because the administration had abandoned human rights as a priority and shown disdain for the State Department’s diplomatic work,

The NFL protests have been lucrative for social justice charities — they´ll receive a whopping $89 million in "settlement" money, redirected from veterans and breast cancer charity funds — but they´re also becoming a boon for cash-strapped football fans. It turns out, if you can still stomach a professional football game, you can now get tickets for about the same price as a couple of Starbucks lattes. According to Vivid Seats, an NFL ticket reselling site, seat prices at most NFL stadiums have bottomed out, leaving fans able to snag a lower level seat for a Buffalo Bills game for

Sen. Richard Shelby says he wants a Republican elected to the Senate on Tuesday to represent Alabama, but that he didn’t vote for GOP candidate Roy Moore in the special election. The Alabama Republican said he’s already cast his ballot, and that he chose a write-in candidate. “I’d rather see the Republican win, but I’d rather see a Republican write-in. I couldn’t vote for Roy Moore. I didn’t vote for Roy Moore,” Shelby told CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union.” Moore has been accused of pursuing sexual relationships with teenagers when he was in his 30s. In some

In 1990, when liberal journalists still had some sense of obligation to the truth, Michael Kelly wrote the following for GQ: As [Carla] Gaviglio enters the room, the six-foot-two, 225-plus-pound [Sen. Ted] Kennedy grabs the five-foot-three, 103-pound waitress and throws her on the table. She lands on her back, scattering crystal, plates and cutlery and the lit candles. Several glasses and a crystal candlestick are broken. Kennedy then picks her up from the table and throws her on [Sen. Chris] Dodd, who is sprawled in a chair. What´s the point of it? Why do you find joy in taking innocent people and finding a way to be mean to them,´ Keaton asked his mother through tears. ´It´s not okay,´ he said. The rules of interaction between women and men in the workplace have been changed with a suddenness that inevitably produces unforeseen negative consequences, no matter how positive and necessary the switch might be. (snip) With the stakes so high, given the presumption of female veracity and male culpability anytime an objection is raised, men are, frankly, terrified. Get used to it, ladies. That is the other side of the coin of the new normal. The old norms that men (often cluelessly) incorporated into their behavior now have been discarded, but we have no clear understanding of what should replace them. By

On Monday, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) told CNN’s Christiane Amanpour President Donald Trump should resign over the sexual misconduct allegations against him. Gillibrand said, “President Trump should resign. These allegations are credible, they are numerous. I’ve heard these women’s testimony, and many of them are heartbreaking. And President Trump should resign his position.” She added, “Whether he will ever hold himself accountable is something you really can’t hold your breath for. And so, Congress should have hearings. They should do their investigation. They should have appropriate investigations of his behavior and hold him accountable.”

A suspect is in custody following an explosion at one of New York City’s busiest transit hubs in Times Square during Monday morning’s rush hour, police said. The bombing suspect was identified as Akayed Ullah, 27, according to New York Police Commissioner James O’Neill. Ullah had an explosive device strapped to his body, O’Neill said. What do we know about the suspect? Law enforcement sources told Fox News Ullah lives in Brooklyn. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said the explosion was an “attempted terrorist attack.” Sources told the Associated Press that Ullah may be of Bangladeshi descent. What else do we know about the

Several women who have accused US President Donald Trump of sexual assault and harassment were expected Monday to call on Congress to open an investigation. A press conference by the women will be hosted by Brave New Films, a media company that recently produced a clip detailing sexual harassment or assault claims by 16 women against Trump. A press release from Brave New Films on Sunday said the women would relate their accounts of Trump’s alleged “groping, fondling, forcibly kissing, humiliating, and harassing women.” The White House has dismissed all of the accusations as lies. During Trump’s presidential campaign, more than

A supposed "rising star" at the State Department has resigned in anger over President Trump´s and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson´s policies. Elizabeth Shackelford gave her resignation letter to the left-leaning Foreign Policy magazine, which was, of course, all too happy to publish it. Shackelford´s letter says she believes the new administration has abandoned human rights as a priority, and shows disdain for the State Department´s diplomatic work. The family of the alleged ISIS-inspired Port Authority bomber said they were “heartbroken” by the attack on Monday and blasted law enforcement agencies for what they claimed were heavy-handed tactics by investigators. “We are heartbroken by the violence that was targeted at our city today and by the allegations being made against a member of our family,” said the statement read by Albert Fox Cahn, the Legal Director for the NY Chapter Council for Islamic Relations. “But we’re also outraged by the behavior of the law enforcement officials who held children as small as 4 years old out in the

One of the more obvious things about the Trump economy is how much better it is than the Obama economy. Yet incredibly, President Obama, as if jealously looking on at this night-and-day difference, is trying to claim credit for it. From the Washington Times: Former President Barack Obama is taking credit for the robust economic growth that is taking place under President Trump. At a conference of mayors in Chicago, Mr. Obama congratulated himself Tuesday for strong employment numbers in the U.S. this year, saying his climate-change policies have contributed to growth.
