Liberals are celebrating the links they see between the antagonists of the new Star Trek and what they believe to be the ideologies of President Trump and his supporters. The “connections” aren’t difficult to find, as co-executive producer Aaron Harberts told Rolling Stone that the “Trump phenomenon” was “front and center in our minds” in creating the new series. In Sunday’s two premiere episodes of Star Trek: Discovery, a Klingon, T’Kuvma, tries to unify the Klingons against Starfleet’s mission for multiculturalism. To sum it up, he believes in isolationism and racial purity…and taking over the world.
Comments: I will say the immortal words said to Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover´s character) in "Lethal Weapon 2" why he couldn´t apply to go back to South Africa: "Because you´re black!" Chris Obi is a big black Klingon "T’Kuvma". How does that translate to Trump? Just don´t watch more Hollyweird indoctrination of their leftist writing. If it starts out that way, more writing traps are within.
Klingons aren´t so bad. They are tough fighters but can be reasoned with. A Klingon officer, Worf, was assigned to the Enterprise in many episodes, and in one episode there was an officer exchange between a Klingon ship and the Enterprise.
Liberal Democrats, on the other hand, are far more like the Borg - relentless, unreasonable, dedicated to complete control. Resistance to liberals may not be futile, but trying to compromise or use logic with them sure is.
Hollywood, like sports and most of the media is on a death spiral as they continue to distance themselves from most of the country! What all these institutions have in common is that they have forgotten that the average American finances their lavish lifestyles and funds their many homes and cars! As this income stream dries up over the disconnect, watch their tune change but for many it will be too late!
The routine in our house is to watch at least one of every new show (except for zombies and any others with flying heads and face eating). Because everyone deserves a first look. And since we don´t "do" commercials, this pilot is in our DVR queue. At least, it was. Now deleted. No reason to sit in our own home and be preached to or disrespected. We get enough of that already without inviting it into our living room.
Same goes for NFL and NBA. Begone and take your childish behavior and attitude with you...
How about a remake of the "Honeymooners" -- with a Trump-like character as Ralph, and a Hillary-type character as Alice. All the neighbors have slept with Alice before she married Ralph -- including Norton, who is the real father of their daughter, and Trixie his Muslim wife.
I´ve been a fan of Star Trek since 1966. Watched this show last night, it doesn´t matter if they were attacking Trump, this show was stupid. The Klingon character talked so slow, I was yelling at the TV to move it along. They lost me when a ´white´ Klingon stepped up to do something and said he was from the ´family of none´. Guess that meant he was illegitimate and supposedly had no honor but the head klingon told him he didn´t care what color his skin was but he sees his reflection in him. What a bunch of crap. If I was Black I would be screaming mad at how UGLY and mindlessly violent they were making the Klingons. Oh, BTW.. I read a few weeks ago there will be a token homosexual, one with a husband and child. By the time the year 2250 rolls around, there will be a cure for homosexuality.
Poster #14, I think you got the plot line confused with Orville. They have a species with "asexual" reproduction, and all the species is male, he has a "male" spouse, then lays an egg and gets medical leave to brood his egg. When it hatches, it is a female and he wants the ship´s doctor to "repair the deformity." I won´t dingbat the rest of the story.
Stupid show with stupid adult humor. Some adult shows have adult humor handled with maturity. Not this show: gratuitous "bad" words and easily avoided inappropriate sexual situations.
Deep Space 9 continues to be the absolute best of all the Star Treks. I have watched it several times from start to finish in order and will probably start it again. I have decided not to watch this show after all the chatter by the group speak media about how all the bad guys will be based on Hollywood´s twisted view of conservatives.
This...show...was...awful. Wouldn´t last 10 weeks in the old days, even in color.
Gene Roddenberry was a lib who would fit in fine with that crowd today. Let´s not forget that George McGovern was a skillful bomber pilot, and John F. Kerry a decorated veteran from his Vietnam service.
Love the Klingons. They are largely honorable, loyal, keep their promises and will fight to the death for honor, family, race and planet. They say what they mean, dont suffer fools, they dont sell out their own for personal gain, and are not likely to lie in your face.
I may not agree with all of the tenets of the Klingon Emprire, but I would prefer the company of a Klingon over most, if not all, democrats.
Strange footage has captured the moment conspiracy theorists say an alien mothership shot a laser beam at the International Space Station. The footage shows what appears to be a pattern of bright lights hovering above the Nasa run base. Moments later, a red beam of light seems to pulse from the object toward the habitat, occupied by astronauts from five space agencies. The footage, which had amassed around 25,000 views at the time of publication, was posted to YouTube by UFO hunter Streetcap1. Speaking in the clip, he said: ´Look at the red light coming from them and going to the space station. It's pretty strange.
Chef Mario Batali on Friday apologized over allegations that he sexually harassed women — then also suggested a cinnamon roll recipe. The apology and "fan favorite" recipe were sent via his newsletter. (Snip) Batali opened the message with an apology for his behavior. "I have made many mistakes and I am so very sorry that I have disappointed my friends, my family, my fans and my team," Batali wrote. "My behavior was wrong and I take full responsibility." The apology came after Eater reported earlier this week that four women in the restaurant industry said Batali had inappropriately touched them.
Of all the prodigious advances in technology taking place today, none is more profound — and troubling — for the human condition than the advent of gene editing and synthetic biology. Corrective intervention in the human genome promises the elimination of genetically induced disease, bolstering of the human immune system, and extended longevity. (Snip) Yet if that process trespasses ethical boundaries agreed upon today by responsible scientists, it could change the human genome forever by altering the “germline” — gene sequences inherited and passed down through generations.
Geneva - The United Nations said Friday that it was appalled by a mass execution of prisoners in Iraq and called for an immediate halt to executions, citing flaws in the country’s criminal justice system. Iraq’s Ministry of Justice said 38 prisoners were executed on terrorism-related charges in the southern city of Nasiriya on Thursday, but it gave no details of the prisoners’ identities or the offenses (Snip) Iraqi courts are dealing with thousands of prisoners, including foreigners and hundreds of children, some as young as 13, who were detained in the past two years because they were suspected of being Islamic State fighters or
To get to Ivanka Trump’s store in Trump Tower, shoppers must first walk past metal barricades and police in body armor toting automatic weapons. Through the revolving doors is another checkpoint, where security employees check your bags. Then, once you’ve made it through, the now famous lobby and its golden elevators appear. In an alcove just to the side is a window. On it is the first daughter’s logo. (Snip) Earlier this year, the business discontinued its fine jewelry line. (Ivanka Trump gave up day-to-day control of the company when she joined her father in the White House, working as an unpaid assistant.) Link corrected
Minnesota Lt. Gov. Tina Smith was appointed Wednesday to temporarily fill the Senate seat of Democratic Sen. Al Franken, who resigned amid allegations of sexual misconduct and pressure within his party to leave office. Smith, a Democrat, was appointed by Minnesota Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton and will serve until a special election next year to complete Franken’s term ending in 2020. She is expected to run to finish the term. Dayton was under pressure from Washington Democrats to appoint a replacement who would run in 2018. The 59-year-old Smith is a former General Mills executive who in the 1990 started her own
President Donald Trump has spent the better part of his campaign and now, presidency, railing against the media, calling out its members for bias, condemning certain networks for outright targeted take-down attempts of his administration — and according to a new study from the Media Research Center, he kind of has a point. Specifically, the study showed that in September, October and November, almost 91 percent of remarks from reporters’ and other so-called non-partisan-types’ mouths during evening ABC, NBC and CBS broadcasts were anti-Trump in nature. Ninety-one percent. That’s pretty dang significant.
Rep. Mo Brooks announced Wednesday in an emotional House floor address that he has prostate cancer. Mr. Brooks, Alabama Republican, said that losing the Senate primary in October may have saved his life. He was running against eventual nominee Roy Moore, but fell short. He said that if he had won, he would not have been able to schedule his physical, which led to his diagnosis. “God does work in mysterious ways,” he said. Mr. Brooks said he will leave for surgery, which is scheduled for Friday.
A former congressional intern reportedly says she too was a victim of inappropriate sexual contact by now-retired Rep. John Conyers, saying Conyers even claimed during that encounter to have “inside information” on then-missing federal intern Chandra Levy. Courtney Morse, 36, described the incident from 16 years ago to The Washington Post. She said Conyers, D-Mich., mentioned the Levy case when Morse was a college intern for him and the congressman drove her home one night. Morse said Conyers wrapped his hand around hers while it was in her lap and said he was interested in a sexual relationship,
Time revealed its 2017 Person of the Year on Wednesday as "The Silence Breakers," a representation of those who came forward with their stories over the prevalence of sexual harassment. The magazine´s editor-in-chief revealed the cover on NBC´s "TODAY" show, saying the woman shown only partially on the cover is someone Time spoke to but "doesn´t feel that she can come forward without threatening her livelihood." The photo includes a group of women: actress Ashley Judd, singer Taylor Swift and former Uber engineer Susan Fowler. Time has identified the Person of the Year for nearly a century,
Deputy White House Chief of Staff Kirstjen Nielsen has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate to oversee the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Nielsen, a former Homeland Security official nominated by President Trump, was confirmed by the Senate in a 62-37 vote on Tuesday. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said that Nielsen understands the department´s daily operations due to her previous experience and is ready to lead on her first day. Meanwhile, Democrats said Nielsen lacks the experience required to run a major agency with 240,000 employees. They also cited concerns about possible White House interference
Kampala, Uganda - For years African leaders have toyed with the idea of free movement by citizens across the continent, even raising the possibility of a single African passport. Now some countries, most recently Kenya, are taking bold steps to encourage borderless travel that could spur trade and economic growth in a region in desperate need of both. Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta announced during his inauguration last week that the East African commercial hub will now give visas on arrival to all Africans. That follows similar measures by nations including Benin and Rwanda. The African Union continental body has cheered
Conventional wisdom is that Attorney General Jeff Sessions is asleep at the wheel – from recusing himself unnecessarily from the Trump-Russia collusion investigation to doing nothing about the politicization and weaponization of the Department of Justice. He also gave free rein to his deputy A.G., Rod Rosenstein, who is in turn allowing Special Counsel Robert Mueller unlimited time, money, and jurisdiction to investigate President Trump´s entire life. Last summer, Trump expressed disappointment in Sessions, calling him "beleaguered," wondering why Sessions wasn´t looking into Hillary Clinton´s emails and true election chicanery. Rudy Giuliani was floated as a possible replacement. Was Trump truly
There is strong circumstantial evidence that an insidious plot unprecedented in American history was hatched within the FBI and the Obama Justice Department to help elect Hillary Clinton and defeat Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election. (Snip) Such a plot would show that partisans within the FBI and the Justice Department, driven by personal animus and a sense of political righteousness, surreptitiously conspired to subvert electoral democracy itself in our country. As of now, we have no proof beyond a reasonable doubt of such a plot. But we have very strong circumstantial evidence.
Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) suggested Thursday that Americans need to have more babies or risk a collapse of popular entitlements like Medicare and Social Security. “This is going to be the new economic challenge for America: people. Baby boomers are retiring — I did my part, but we need to have higher birth rates in this country,” Ryan, a father of three, told reporters as he riffed on how Republicans will tackle entitlement and welfare reform in 2018. “Baby boomers are retiring and we have fewer people following them in the workforce.
Female actresses attending this year’s Golden Globes ceremony are reportedly planning to wear only black in protest of the widening sexual abuse scandal that has engulfed Hollywood this year.According to E! News, the plan originally started with just a small group of women but gradually grew as other women wished to express solidarity. “So all of the female actresses and attendees, or most of them at least, are standing in solidarity together in a form of protest,” said ceremony host Jackie Oshry on The Morning Breath radio show. “They’re all going to be wearing black, obviously to protest the injustices
Santa Claus, Christmas trees and the colors red and green are examples of inappropriate “religious iconography” during the holiday season, according to a paper distributed during a “Respecting Religious Diversity” event at the University of Minnesota."Jewish Hanukkah" is targeted, too, with menorahs and the colors blue and white also described as being "not appropriate." “Consider neutral-themed parties such as a ‘winter celebration,’” the handout read. “Decorations, music, and food should be general and not specific to any one religion.” It was part of a Dean’s Dialogues “Religious Diversity and Holidays” event within the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource
CNN anchors Anderson Cooper and Christian Amanpour discuss reports that leaders of Syria, Myanmar Russia, and other authoritarian states have all used the term "fake news" to dismiss credible reports they disagree with. Ryan Crocker, who has served as ambassador to several middle eastern countries joins the conversation. Amanpour said that Trump´s use of the term has given dictators around the world license to paralyze the press and if it goes on, it will put democracy and the entire world order at risk. "This is really serious, and it just has to stop. Because it is undermining not just our safety, but
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel (D) is proposing a new motto for the city that takes aim at President Trump. Emanuel, who served as chief of staff under former President Barack Obama, told Stephen Colbert that he has declared Chicago a “Trump-free zone” and joked that its new motto is “A city he’ll never sleep in.” “We don’t want him,” Emanuel said on “The Late Show” Wednesday night. Emanuel told Colbert that multiple Chicago initiatives, such as public scholarships available to recipients of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) immigration program and environmental regulations, do not line up with the
Democrats hate her (#Tolerance)... Feminists despise her (#GlassCeiling)... Progressives want her silenced (#Diversity)... And the liberal media dreads her. Who is she? She’s Sarah Huckabee Sanders. In case you’ve been hiding under a freshly broken shard of glass from one of the ceilings being broken all over Washington D.C. lately - keep reading, it gets better. She’s the 3rd female to ever hold the office of the White House Press Secretary. - Dee Dee Myers was the first under Clinton (1993-1994) - Dana Perino was the 2nd who served under Bush in 2007 And it’s no surprise that Trump put her there because she’s perfect for the job.
Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin has requested UN Peacekeeping Forces to the City of Chicago to cut down on violence in the Windy City. Boykin says peacekeeping forces are needed to fight the “quiet genocide” in the streets of Chicago. The joys of liberalism: 603 people have been shot and killed in Chicago so far this year. 3,454 people have been shot. There have been 652 homicides in Chicago so far this year. CBS Chicago reported: Some politicians in the past have recommended deploying the National Guard to help Chicago quell gun violence, but Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin went
Spurred by the multitude of sexual abuse scandals, top Hollywood executives have tapped Anita Hill to chair the newly formed Commission on Sexual Harassment and Advancing Equality in the Workplace. The commission made the announcement Friday following a meeting convened by Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, Nike Foundation founder and co-chair Maria Eitel, Nina Shaw, and venture captialist Freada Kapor Klein. “The Commission will not seek just one solution, but a comprehensive strategy to address the complex and inter-related causes of the problems of parity and power,” said Kennedy.
A well-known women’s rights lawyer sought to arrange compensation from donors and tabloid media outlets for women who made or considered making sexual misconduct allegations against Donald Trump during the final months of the 2016 presidential race, according to documents and interviews. California lawyer Lisa Bloom’s efforts included offering to sell alleged victims’ stories to TV outlets in return for a commission for herself, arranging a donor to pay off one Trump accuser’s mortgage and attempting to secure a six-figure payment for another woman who ultimately declined to come forward after being offered as much as $750,000, the clients told The
Friday afternoon, the FBI released a 29-page document containing Justice Department emails regarding the infamous meeting on the tarmac in Phoenix between then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch and Bill Clinton just days before FBI Director James Comey gave his much-criticized announcement that he would not press for charges against Secretary of State Hillary Clinton over her "extreme carelessness" in handling classified material. The emails, spanning from July 1-3, 2016, contain correspondence among various DOJ officials to the leaking of the impromptu 30-minute meeting between Lynch and Clinton that the AG insists was merely a personal chat about their grandchildren and recent travels,
