Former Army Ranger Is Only Steelers
Player To Stand For National Anthem [Video]

Daily Caller, by Peter Hasson

Original Article

Posted By:JoniTx, 9/24/2017 6:09:52 PM

The entire Pittsburgh Steelers team remained in the locker room during the national anthem, with the exception of one player: Army veteran Alejandro Villanueva, who plays offensive tackle for the Steelers. While the rest of his teammates remained in the locker room, Villanueva stood in the tunnel holding his helmet in his left hand and holding his right hand over his heart as the anthem played. WATCH: (Videos/Tweet) Villaneuva played in college at West Point Military Academy before going on to become an Army Ranger. He served three tours in Afghanistan and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Valor.

Bless him. He knows why we stand, hand over heart, for our National Anthem. He fought in one of the ugliest places in the world and received the Bronze Star for valor.

His teammates should be so ashamed.

Bravo to a man who continues to display American courage!

The Army Ranger knows what real combat is like, unlike his poor victimized teammates. It sickens me to hear the participants on the gridiron referred to as warriors or gladiators. The real warriors are buried at Arlington National Cemetery. When those punks in pads take a knee, they´re kneeling on the graves of our nations real warriors. As far as I´m concerned BLM stands for Blacks Limited Mentality.

The rest of the Steelers can go to hell.
I´m ashamed of my team. Especially Ben the qb. ALEJANDRO IS THE STARTING OFFENSIVE LEFT TACKLE, who protects Ben on passing plays. But Ben didn´t stand with his protector.
(Even OJ Simpson, when selected as league MVP, refused to go to the award dinner unless they invited his offensive line. Being outclassed by OJ is really low class, Ben.)

TN Titans and Seattle Seahawks did this locker room crap here in Nashville today too. These packs of spoiled millionaire thug brats stayed in the locker room. Every one of them should be deported to some miserable third world hell hole to get a good dose of what "oppression" really is.

The owner and the Titans franchise wrote letters supporting the Titans team in their racist and unpatriotic behavior going so far as to say their refusal to even come onto the field during the anthem should not be construed as "unpatriotic." Then what is it exactly Mrs. Amy Adams Strunk, you unpatriotic cow?

So, I am exercising my 1st Amendment rights, The NFL and every single player that supports this racist stupidity can just crawl into a ditch and die for all I care. I will never watch another Titans game or any NFL game.. ever. I don´t care what they do. And I will actively boycott NFL sponsors... Anheuser-Busch, Bose, Bridgestone, Campbell´s Soup Company, Castrol, Courtyard Marriott, Dannon, FedEx, Gatorade, Hyundai, Mars Snackfood, Nationwide, Papa John´s, Pepsi, Procter & Gamble, Quaker, and Verizon.

OPEN LETTER TO THE STEELER FOOTBALL TEAM

I agree that people should not have to choose whether or not to support the politics of a self-important, currently unemployed player who threw away $114 million. But staying off the field looks like your team either made the same choice or are cowards.

Standing for the National Anthem is a tradition of respect for this country, our flag and the Americans who gave their lives to defend and protect the freedoms guaranteed under that flag. Without those freedoms, there would be no America, no NFL and you would not have your job.

We don´t care about your politics (left or right.) And, it is short-sighted of some players to ‘sympathize’ with a communist/marxist "social justice movement” that actually despises the competitive nature of your jobs and your salaries. Some of the news media and the Trump-haters might applaud. But, most of us don´t watch football for political/social commentary. Is injecting politics into the sport really worth losing the support of the American people?

Do you realize that the lowest paid NFL player makes $435,000 + a year - nearly 1´s the salary of the typical American family ($47,000) who is paying cable/satellite, or in the stadium or by supporting the products advertised during the games?

Let me remind you guys of a few things:
YOU are not oppressed.
YOU are in the 1% of top of wage earners in this country.
YOU are not enslaved; your income level gives you freedom and choices.
YOU are not being discriminated against. You were given an opportunity and you excelled.
YOU have status and privilege because of your job performance NOT your politics.

NOW, RESPECT THE OPPORTUNITIES THIS COUNTRY HAS GIVEN YOU AND. JUST. PLAY. FOOTBALL.

The irony in all of this is the NFL and other pro sports teams have made a BIG deal out of the National Anthem by making it a part of their sporting events. I suspect they have done so to appeal to their fan base. Now, their players disrespect it (and most of them have NO clue what or why they are protesting), and the NFL expects the fan base to "tolerate" their actions. Contrast this with college football: many teams aren´t even on the field when the anthem is played. Additionally, the NFL claims it can´t do anything about this, yet they can prevent a player from playing in a game if he chooses to wear the wrong socks. What hypocrisy!

So if these pampered, over paid babies can´t respect their country, then owners and the NFL should stop trying to pretend that they are so "American" by making the national anthem an integral part of their grand show. In the meantime, I´m done with pro sports: they can take their privileged lives/jobs and shove it. I won´t give a single nickel or minute of my time to put up with this distasteful, childish, rude behavior.

I applaud him. How about his fellow teammates stand in support of Villanueva´s service to the country?

I am of the opinion that if you are truly concerned for the oppressed, especially a NFL player making outrageous amounts of money, it is too easy to protest in front of a television.

How about these NFL players put their money where their mouths are? Take their outrageous amounts of money and donate to these oppressed people. After all, somehow in this oppressive country, they were able to break loose from those chains and become NFL players

Sorry to make this political but we had eight years of Obama´s "share the wealth" ideology. How is it that after eight years of Obamacare, money being poured into food stamps & welfare programs, freebies etc., we have oppression? Obama´s programs must not have worked or the money went elsewhere because we know they were raking in a lot of income taxes.

Villanueva reminded me of the Chinese hero who stood up against the tank in 1989 Tiananmen Square. God bless both of them. We stand with them ..

.. no, they stand with us.

.. no, we stand together.

.. for Liberty.

Remember, America is more an idea than a country. It is embracing that idea that makes one an "American" - regardless of actual nationality, race, or ethnicity.

"Specific rule pertaining to the National Anthem is found on pages A62-63 of the league rule book it states:
The National Athem must be played prior to every NFL game and all players must be on the side lines for the National Athem. During the National Athem players on the field and bench area should STAND AT ATTENTION, face the flag hold helmet in left hand and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition. It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and country.

I can tell you what the problem is with that statement, Coach Tomlin:

Well - I´M gonna trust the man who graduated from West Point, served three tours in Afghanistan and earned that Bronze Star, Coach.

So, thanks to multi-millionaire Colin Kaepernick, NFL football has become the leading platform for social justice. One unhappy guy kneels and others follow.

Now it´s baseball. One unhappy guy kneels and others are sure to follow. Can´t wait for the World Series.

Then it´s the NBA. Think these social justice warriors will take a knee?

What about the fans.

Refusing to stand for the National Anthem is an expression of profound ignorance. These pampered multimillionaires have been spoon fed by educators steeped in leftist theology that ignores most of America’s history. They should all be on their knees giving thanks that they were lucky enough to be born in America instead of some socialist paradise like Venezuela.

Note to NFL players:

You are spoiled children on a enormous public stage with the power to do much harm by a level of influence you shouldn´t have to begin with.

This all started with a lie, Michael Brown who represented everything that is wrong with the African American community, not America. A big bully, drug abuser who copped an attitude with the police, went for a police officer´s gun and got himself killed. You are kneeling as a sign of support for the segment of society that as 13% of our population commits 38% of our murders killing at a rate of 10 times that of everybody else. There is no open season on Blacks, but there is open season on everybody who gets in the way of or angers that segment of society. More often than not, other blacks. Protest that for God´s sake! Is it that difficult for you to understand that people are wary of Blacks, particularly in certain circumstances?

You live in an imperfect country but the one that has provided the best life for blacks and everybody else, check out your pay stub. No place on earth has a clean history with no mistakes. What country in history would have done what we did after WWII with total global domination? We put the world back together to the best of our ability. If you want to make it better great let´s do it, but not by chasing phantom BS, but rather, by courageously facing the truth about the feral segment of our society and the policies that enable if not create it.

Watched the Detroit Lions/Atlanta Falcons for just a few of the opening moments. Right before the national anthem began, there was a rush of loud booing in the stands - am assuming it was because of the disrespect that fans were witnessing on the field.

What struck me before I turned off the game in disgust, was the appearance of some very young black boys on the field, looking up at the players - their facial expressions conveyed apprehension and uneasiness.

Instead of setting for those young men an example of patriotism and gratitude by standing tall and proudly with their hands over their hearts, the players, coaches, and owners instead chose to stand there with grim and scowling faces with their arms interlocked. How it is wished that those little boys could have instead been exposed to the uncompromising stand of Alejandro Villanueva.

Those precious little boys were being forced to lose their innocent enjoyment of the game and their team´s play because of the ignorant and misplaced allegiance displayed by the excessively paid and pompous players.

Colin Kaepernick, and every other sports lemming who follows his headlong path to disgrace and destruction, all make me sick.

Why is everything politicized? We have award shows that are nothing but anti-Trump tirades. Now we have protests at sporting events. This is going to directly affect the revenue for the teams and award shows as people will tune out or stop attending games.

What would have happened if white players would not stand for National Anthem when Obama was president?

I went to a classical music concert in suburban Chicago yesterday afternoon in which the formally clad symphony orchestra players, at the outset of the concert, stood and played the national anthem. The entire audience rose to respect and attention, facing the flag. Many sang along. It brought tears of joy and gratitude to me in contrast to all the news of NFL players disrespecting the flag, our country, our fallen and contemporary heroes who serve so bravely, which I had seen and heard before attending the concert.

So many news pieces have been featuring the deplorable behavior of the Steelers team when the anthem was played at their game that day, without even mentioning that the entire Chicago Bears team stood at respectful attention, many linking arms, during the anthem. God bless them all.

If interested, Fox & Friends Sunday (YouTube 9-24-17 90AM Portion) had an exceptionally good discussion of the “National Anthem Outrage” with NewtGingrich presented outstanding commentary on the issue. A different segment with GreggJarrett provided a legal perspective to the Constitution and freedom of speech pointing out that such guaranteed free speech is from the government, whereas private business (NFL, et al) has the right to terminate employees if an employee’s conduct and/or expression cause embarrassment and/or detrimental financial impact to a business. DavidBossie made an excellent point about sports figures wearing costumes, not uniforms—uniforms are worn by the military.

Should have been "nearly 1´s the salary of the typical American family."

And yes, they have the right to protest. But I wonder how many of the kneelers are putting their money where their mouth is, donating to help those whom they believe to be victims of racial discrimination?

Again, I say no politics. Just. Play. Football.

There are better plays and enthusiasm in college football. Free up your Sundays, Monday and Thursday nights for family time.
Alejandro Villanueva is a real stand up man, a finer role model for our youth than those bums who disrespect our Flag, our awesome military, and our country.
They should be made to spend a year in some hellhole like Afghanistan, or in 120 degree temps in a Middle Eastern desert.

Also, very much like the suggestion of boycotting any sponsors that pay these ingrates a penny.

This year all of the ticket brokers preseason purchases will allow the owners to say they have sold out games. Next year will be when the real hurt sets in. Ticket brokers will be very reluctant to buy tickets after the blood bath they will endure this year. In the mean time, let´s see what those merchandise sales, at the stadium beer and food purchases look like on the P & L´s. Also let´s see what happens to advertiser prices as the year progresses. Especially during the Super Bowl.

Democrats called it the Trump shutdown. Republicans labeled it the Schumer shutdown. But in reality, it was the Dreamer shutdown. The recipe for the current congressional gridlock is complex, but at the top of the list of ingredients are the illegal immigrant Dreamers who pushed Democrats to launch the filibuster that sent the government careening into a partial shutdown. It’s a stunning display of political leverage for a group that, at most, numbers several million, can’t vote now, and even under the most generous proposals wouldn’t be able to cast ballots for another decade.
