CNN´s Jim Acosta deserves a raise

Washington Examiner, by Naomi Lim

Veteran journalist Dan Rather said CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta deserves a pay rise and a vacation for his coverage of the Trump administration. "CNN should give him a raise and a week off," Rather, who famously sparred with President Nixon at a press conference while a White House correspondent for CBS during the Watergate scandal, told Politico. "That´s how good he´s been." Acosta and his network´s tenuous relationship with President Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign has spilled over into the administration, with CNN being slammed repeatedly by the president as "fake news." In a profile piece for Politico,

When Dan Rather signs Mr. Acosta´s checks, he can give him a raise and all the holidays he wants. I think I heard CBS decided not to sign any more of Dan Rather´s checks.

A little-known adviser on the Trump campaign is a “person of interest” in the Senate Intelligence Committee’s investigation into Russian interference in the presidential campaign. North Carolina Sen. Richard Burr, the chairman of the Senate panel, told BuzzFeed that George Papadopoulos, a short-lived member of the campaign’s foreign policy team, is “definitely a person of interest” in the committee’s probe. Virginia Sen. Mark Warner, the Democratic vice chairman of the committee, echoed Burr’s statement, saying that the committee hopes to interview Papadopoulos, who was an adviser to Ben Carson’s campaign before joining the Trump team last March. Former President George W. Bush emerged from retirement on Thursday to stage a broad attack on President Donald Trump and the movement that supports him. Without mentioning Trump by name, Bush accused him of “casual cruelty” in political discourse, of distorting nationalism into “nativism,” and of emboldening bigotry and white supremacy. He called for a renewed commitment to American global leadership and domestic citizenship. It was a call to national unity — against Trump and his supporters, who were reduced to labels and caricatures: “protectionism,” “isolationist sentiments,” and the like. “Too often, we judge other groups by their worst examples

One thing that’s been an absolute staple of Fox News’ programming during the Age of Trump has been a heavy criticism of the mainstream media’s coverage. With the president spending much of his time complaining about “fake news” in response to reporting he doesn’t like, the network’s opinion hosts and commentators have parroted POTUS’s attacks and devoted segments to hammering other outlets. In an interview with the Associated Press this week, Fox News Sunday anchor Chris Wallace put his colleagues on blast over their penchant for discrediting the press. As he puts it, whenever these media attacks are uttered on

Former President George W. Bush offered an unmistakable denunciation of Trumpism Thursday without mentioning the president by name, urging citizens to oppose threats to American democracy. “Bigotry seems emboldened. Our politics seems more vulnerable to conspiracy theories and outright fabrication,” Bush warned in remarks at the Bush Institute’s Spirit of Liberty event in New York. By chance, Bush was standing in the same spot at the Time Warner Center where former President Barack Obama made a similar plea for democracy and American leadership in late September, shortly after President Donald Trump had finished a belligerent, isolationist speech to the United Nations

Does anyone think Lauren Sivan put out the vibe upon meeting famous Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein that she was hoping to watch him furtively whack it into a potted plant in a dark corner of an empty restaurant kitchen? The more aggressive harassment is, the harder it is to explain in terms of a misconstrued female “invitation.” Actual assault is plainly indefensible, yet here’s Eddie

My Harvey story is different, mostly because of timing. I was in one of the first films that Weinstein produced.
