Bill O´Reilly Unrepentant: His Fox
News Firing, Trump´s Missteps and
a Possible TV Return

Hollywood Reporter, by Marisa Guthrie

Original Article

The former king of cable news enters THR´s no-spin zone to discuss his exit amid harassment claims, the president´s Charlottesville remarks, Megyn Kelly´s Putin sit-down and his latest ´Killing´ book. Bill O´Reilly has scores to settle — with his accusers, the media and the "far-left precincts" that have "viciously attacked" and plotted to "destroy" him. But on this September afternoon, the former king of conservative cable — host for 20 years of Fox News´ top-rated The O´Reilly Factor — is trying his best to play nice. He (gently) chides President Trump for his comments about some neo-Nazis being "very fine

President Trump DID NOT say that some neo-Nazis at Charlottesville were "fine" people. He said that some of the protestors, all of whom were not neo-Nazis, were fine people, And he was right.

I don´t want to see O´Reilly´s arrogance turned on the President. I´ve had enough of him.

I am not as great a fan of the "Killing" books as the rest of the world seems to be. I recoiled, for example, when in "Killing Lincoln" he said the a flag on land was flown at "half mast." As most people would know, a flag on land is flown "half staff." It was an error that shouldn´t have been missed.

"Killing Jesus" provided no new information for those who have studied the Bible and Jesus´ times. That would be any active Baptist, for example.

It is time for Bill to retire.

Mr. O´Reilly, they ease us all out at 65, sometimes sooner, sometimes later. It´s time for you to forget the past, and do something new, which I think you actually will enjoy more than ever, if you will embrace it.

Just as during the election, O´Reilly just has to get a dig in on Trump. To misquote and misinterpret what Trump said is unforgivable.

I will just add O´Reilly to my list of people to not read, listen to or buy any of his books.

The fire that destroyed six homes and damaged a dozen others in Bel-Air last week was caused by a cooking fire at a nearby homeless encampment, Los Angeles fire officials said Tuesday. For a "number of years," homeless people had been living in a camp along Sepulveda Boulevard where it passes under the 405 Freeway, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Peter Sanders said.Investigators who inspected the encampment found evidence that people had been cooking and sleeping in the area but did not find anyone there, Sanders said. As Monday’s throwdown in the White House press room made clear, relations between the President and the press corps are as bad as they have ever been during the Trump administration. Most journalists seem to put the blame on the administration’s criticisms of the press, with CNN’s Chris Cilizza saying Press Secretary Sarah Sanders’ condemnations were “disheartening” and made him “angry.” A couple of weeks ago, disgraced ex-CBS anchor Dan Rather called the President’s attacks on the news media “disappointing.” “If you look over the arc of history,” Rather lectured MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle in late November, “presidents who have been

From America’s Catholic bishops to prominent Christian pastor Jim Wallis, congressional Republicans’ push for an overhaul of the tax code has been called nothing less than ungodly. The debate about tax rates and income numbers has taken on pointedly religious overtones, with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, California Democrat, citing Pope Francis and St. Augustine in attacking the bill and saying it would signify Armageddon. Recognizing the problems inherent in the hysteria surrounding the #MeToo campaign, which the media and politicians are heralding as a pivotal moment in our culture, should not require a difficult intellectual exercise. It was once conventional wisdom gleaned from history. But given that modern media narratives serve more to reshape history than to appropriately understand and learn from it, perhaps a brief history discussion is in order. All you have to do is remember the first famous #MeToo campaign to take place in the Americas.
