Nun With A Chainsaw Becomes Symbol
Of Post-Irma Cleanup: ´She Rocks´

National Public Radio, by Bill Chappell

The cleanup after Hurricane Irma is a massive undertaking, after the destructive storm hit Florida and neighboring states over the weekend. In Miami, a nun chipped in to clear trees in her neighborhood — and no one, it seems, can resist a story about a chainsaw-wielding nun. Sister Margaret Ann was spotted at work by an off-duty officer of the Miami-Dade Police Department, which posted video and images from the scene Tuesday. The department calls the sister´s work another sign that Miami´s community will work together to repair what Irma broke, writing on its Facebook page, "Thank you Sister and all of

I hope she is VERY careful to not get her clothes caught up in the chain.

Chainsaws, or ANY moving machinery and loose, flowing hair or clothing is an accident waiting to happen. When it does, it will be very quick and very ugly.

...a close viewing reveals that the saw is not running, no chips ever fly and nothing gets cut. She simply touches the bar to a few different places and even attempts a ´sawing´ motion at one point.

....still cute.

Make Sure You Watch The Video: OMB Director Mick Mulvaney is covering as ‘Acting Director‘ for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) until a permanent replacement is nominated by President Trump. As most people are aware the Democrats are apoplectic about their holy grail bureau being under oversight of Mr. Mulvaney, and they have attempted legal maneuvers to stop the Trump administration from authority within the agency. The Department of Justice, White House Office of Legal Counsel, agreed with President Trump’s authority to appoint an ‘acting director’. The last month has been a whirlwind of allegations and accusations of sexual assault from the heights of Hollywood to the halls of Congress, Big Media, and beyond.(Snip)Most of these people have spent a lifetime—and a great deal of effort and money—sneering at and debasing the culture of practiced faith, respect for women, the institutions of traditional marriage and family, all the while portraying men of that “debased lifestyle” they disparaged as unenlightened peasants and troglodytes. Now it appears the men who mounted these assaults—both literally and figuratively—are nothing but patriarchal misogynistic perverts. But unfortunately we’re seeing commentators—including women such

Just like aggressive nations, so too people who are not innately moral are deterred from committing crimes by fear of punishment. The likelihood of arrest, the good chance of conviction, the probability of jail time or fines, or a permanent criminal record—or all that and more—do their parts to discourage criminality. In that context, the sudden deluge of sexual harassment claims shares one common theme: lost deterrence. Those who use their positions of ideological correctness, perceived power, authority, influence, or money to leverage some sort of unwanted sex (from a fleeting grope to coerced intercourse) do so because, in their jaded cost-benefit calibrations,

The press often quotes a passage in a letter from Thomas Jefferson to Edward Carrington on January 16, 1787. But there is more to the story than the press lets on. (Snip) I really doubt that Jefferson would like a world without a government. He had in the Declaration of Independence written, "That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed." Not one word about the press or newspapers is in the declaration. But centuries of journalists have used that hyperbolic passage in the letter to Carrington to show that they are

Suppose Robert E. Lee had laid hands on a shipment of AK-47s in 1864. How would American history have unfolded? Differently than it did, one imagines. Historians frown on alt-history, and oftentimes for good reason. Change too many variables, and you veer speedily into fiction. The chain connecting cause to effect gets too diffuse to trace, and history loses all power to instruct. Change a major variable, especially in a fanciful way—for instance, positing that machine-gun-toting Confederates took the field against Ulysses S. Grant’s army at the Battle of the Wilderness—and the same fate befalls you. Good storytelling may teach little. What
