Amazon has been monitoring and deleting reviews after Hillary Clinton´s new book was greeted with a torrent of criticism on the day it was released. What Happened, which covers the former Secretary of State´s unsuccessful election campaign against Donald Trump, was published on Tuesday. Clinton and her publisher Simon & Schuster claimed the book would offer a candid account of her failure and her own reflection on it. Reviews of What Happened have been mixed, with some suggesting it Clinton uses it as an opportunity to blame others – such as Bernie Sanders and Vladimir Putin – for her failure, rather than herself.
They did the same thing for Megyn Kelly´s book. Jeff Bezos is just applying all the Fake News expertise he has developed from his ego bauble the Washington comPost, to make sure that Les Deplorables -- i.e., those he thinks are beneath him, about 99.999999% of the population -- remain ignorant of the truth and thus easily manipulated. Break up Amazon -- into little tiny pieces.
I maintain a ´schiff´ list of of companies I refuse to do business with. Kohl´s, Target, Starbucks, are included on that list, but Amazon is at the top. Bozo Bezos is caught up with his own brand of Hate America, and I refuse to sustain him in any way.
The five star reviews are hilarious. You´d think the book came with a packet of Kool-aid. More effuse language you will never hear. It´s like love letter after love letter probably written by a hired boiler room operation in India for 6 cents apiece. They are really really funny.
I took a look at the first few reviews this morning - 5 were glowing and one referred to it as the worst toilet paper on the market. I figured then that the reviews were being edited. Bezos learned his lesson when the reviews of Illary and Kaine´s campaign book last summer were hilariously brutal.
Amazon is nothing more than a reincarnation of Sears, Spiegel, JC Penny and other mail order has Beens with a little bit of technology applied. We-Mart, Target, and many other retailers are not going to just roll over. The impersonallity of dealing with Amazon will eventually run its course and the buying public will find the personal service of retail is a welcome experience. People by nature want to be around people. And that is an undeniable truth of life as well as the reason thAt I have never bought anything off of Amazon nor will I ever
I have to give Amazon a break. There are so many things available there that just aren´t in the brick and mortar stores. You can order it and wait weeks at your local store or have it delivered the next day via Amazon Prime (and get access to their streaming library).
Bezos is just another corrupt Democrat -- a rich one but nonetheless an unethical corrupt one. This is worse than Soviet propaganda since it is being done by private citizens who try to foster an image of being unbiased but who are extreme partisans. At least with the Soviet propaganda, you knew it was the government talking.
If Hillary! keeps insisting she is relevant by continually forcing her big butt and ugly face on the general public, then it´s time to open several very serious investigations into her past illegal behavior. Let her use some ... a lot! ... of her ill-gained money to defend herself. Wonder how much she would enjoy the spotlight then.
Although Amazon lists it as #6 on Kindle eBooks they don´t list the number of copies sold, either in hardcover or on Kindle. Another source says:
"Said the source about the Clinton book which reportedly had an initial print run of one million copies: “Between us, they are nervous at S&S [Simon & Schuster]. Sales were well below expectations and the media was a disaster. They sold 60,000 hard covers first week and 24,000 ebooks. The publishing house was ‘hoping and praying for 150,000 print first week.’ They will be lucky to sell 150,000 total lifetime. It’s a bomb but it will be interesting to see how they spin it.””
Well, if her book bombs as it looks like it will she can begin her "What Happened to My Book Sales" tour. All she needs to decide is who to blame and what to charge the gullible who still want to listen.
I don´t have a problem with Amazon deleting reviews from people who didn´t buy the book from them. It is their website, and if they want to limit it to people who purchased the book from them so be it. Book reviews are supposed to to written by people who´ve read the book (or at least tried to read it), not people who despise the author and want to vent. For the record, I´ve panned books that I bought from them, and they´ve always left my one and two star ratings intact.
Unfortunately for conservatives, Amazon is still the best at what they do - business wise. Walmart and a few others are trying to compete, but their customer service often leaves much to be desired (depends on local store management). I live in a rural area away from the city, and hope that I can switch to a real competitor, but right now see none.
I´m guessing Simon & Schuster has a conservative subsidary that will publish a book by a decent conservative author (Mark Steyn, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity, etc.) that will cover the loss on the Hillary book and its multi-million dollar advance to Hillary.
Some people may call that a payoff. And I´d be one of those people.

I am not sure if I understand #10 correctly, but I like the idea of writing one star reviews and deliberately falsely giving them five star ratings. Or even, random intermediate numbers. It would throw a monkey wrench into Amazon´s censorship machinations.
I know one thing, if I had stock in Simon & Shuster..if they have stockholders..I would be royally..PI---d.for wasting all that money.. and aren´t they the ones that gave Comey a couple of million for his book..another stupid move..jumped the gun on that one..but then again..if he goes to Levenworth..it may make for a best seller..
I can sort of understand if they´re deleting 1-star reviews that are not verified purchases, which are just people gratuitously editorializing, but if they´re deleting all 1-star reviews regardless, that´s just plain censorship. Amazon itself marked it down to 40 percent off before it even came out, so that speaks volumes right there.
Although this is deliciously funny in a Deplorable way, I still can’t believe anyone in the Clinton machine or even at S&S did not say, “Whoa! This is a disaster!” Or, perhaps they are all so sick of her they let this bunch of sour grapes go public in an assisted suicide effort.
Either way, the court of public opinion is going to be harsh and swift. I doubt her “book tour” will last through all 15 cities. It gets expensive to rent an audience, let alone the logistics, doing it a dozen times in two months. I also doubt she has the stamina. This is a more ambitious schedule than she kept when she was supposedly campaigning for the presidency. Its rather poetic in a way; last year’s campaign focused on presenting the fake Hillary!, and this year she wants everyone to know the real Her!. She could not have given President Trump a greater gift. The court of public opinion will try Mrs. Clinton and the verdict will be, “Lock her up!”
It’s no secret finishing college is more difficult for low-income students. But new government data show just how hard that struggle can be. At four-year colleges, just under half of students who received Pell Grants — federal aid awarded to millions of low income families each year — went on to earn a bachelor’s degree within six years, according to a Money analysis of Education Department data released Thursday. That’s compared with 67% of students who did not receive the grant. (Snip) Since 2000, the federal government has spent roughly $400 billion on the Pell Grant program, with annual spending
Natasha De Alencar was sitting at home after a trip to Walmart in April when a phone rang. It was President Donald Trump, and he wanted to talk about her husband. Staff Sgt. Mark R. De Alencar had just been brought back to the U.S. in a flag-draped casket from Afghanistan days earlier. The member of the 7th Special Forces group was killed on April 8 — the first American killed in combat in Afghanistan this year, according to a tally kept by iCasualties. (Snip) De Alencar said Trump had researched her husband and was familiar with the awards he had
Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shahid Khan thinks he knows why President Donald Trump has had the NFL in his crosshairs. Jealousy. "This is a very personal issue with him," Khan told USA Today after Wednesday´s owners meetings concluded in New York regarding Trump´s insistence that the league´s players should all stand during the national anthem. Trump attempted to buy the Buffalo Bills in 2014, but his bid failed. Khan believes that might be fueling the President´s unrelenting criticism of the widespread player protests during the anthem this season. "He´s been elected President, where maybe a great goal he had in life
A Massachusetts elementary school has canceled its Halloween events and is celebrating ´black and orange spirit day´ instead. Boyden Elementary School´s principal sent a letter to parents this week saying that it had decided to cancel its traditional Halloween parade on October 31 because it was ´not inclusive of all students´ and was ´difficult´ for many. Without specifying which students the parade excluded, Principal Brendan Dearborn said the school would instead hold a ´black and orange spirit day´. Children are allowed to dress in those colors but cannot come to school in costume. They are however allowed to wear costumes to an
WASHINGTON — A young Barack Obama questioned his place in the world and his racial identity, agonized over whether he´d make enough money as a community organizer, and lamented his incompatibility with his ex-girlfriend in 30 pages of letters he wrote to her that are now being archived by Emory University in Atlanta. (Snip) "My ideas aren´t as crystallized as they were while in school, but they have an immediacy and weight that may be more useful if and when I´m less observer and more participant," Obama wrote in 1984 to McNear, who was a student at a California college
California Gov. Jerry Brown (D) on Sunday signed new legislation that will allow state residents to choose a gender option other than male or female on official documents. The legislation, a top priority of civil rights groups, also makes it easier for transgender people to change their gender identification on birth certificates or driver’s licenses. (Snip) The measure requires California’s registrar to issue new birth certificates to those born in the state who want to identify as a different gender, or as a third nonbinary option known as “intersex.” It deletes a requirement in state law that an applicant undergo treatment and
The legendary Bigfoot and other creatures like it have reportedly been spotted near a Northern California lake, according to a paranormal investigator. Jeffrey Gonzalez, a self-described paranormal expert, said he heard about the sighting from a local farmer who said he saw the creature and five others running on his ranch near Avocado Lake. “One of them, which was extremely tall, had a pig over its shoulder," Gonzalez said in comments obtained by Fox 26, a Fox News affiliate. "And the five scattered and the one with the pig was running so fast it didn’t see an irrigation pipe and
The health of a nation’s economy and the health of its people are connected, but in some surprising ways. At times like these, when the economy is strong and unemployment is low, research has found that death rates rise. At least, in the short term. In the long term, economic growth is good for health. What’s going on? One study of European countries just before and during the Great Recession found that a one-percentage-point increase in the unemployment rate is associated with an 0.5 percent decline in the overall mortality rate. Other studies of Europe during different periods, as well
Netflix’s House of Cards helped Russian troll factory workers craft messages messages slamming Hillary Clinton that they posted in comments section of Washington Post and New York Times reports during the 2016 presidential race. This according to a Yahoo report from Michael Isikoff, as explained to CNN’s New Day this morning. Watching House of Cards was supposed to help the trolls write messages to sway the election, Isikoff said he learned while interviewing a worker from the troll factory Internet Research Agency. The worker, who went by the name “Maksim,” said they were “forced” to watch House of Cards, in English
Three Maine roofers put their hammers down and stood up to show respect for the national anthem on Saturday, in the process unknowingly posing for a photo that´s been used to symbolize one side of the contentious nationwide debate about "The Star-Spangled Banner." The roofers, who were working near Waterville High School’s football field, stood for the national anthem “even though they didn’t have to,” Michelle Lyons Cossar, the Old Town resident who snapped the photo, told Fox News on Monday. While Cossar was standing for the anthem prior to the start of Saturday’s game, she said she heard someone
New York activist Tamika Mallory says she was booted from an American Airlines flight in Miami after a pilot inserted himself into a dispute over her seat assignment. Mallory, a co-chair of the Women’s March on Washington, was traveling home to New York when the pilot followed her to scold her over an argument she had with a gate agent. He then had her summoned from her seat and kicked off the flight, she told the Daily News. “It definitely was white male aggression. I was singled out, I was disrespected, and he was trying to intimidate me. I was
NBC has tracked down and fired the employee responsible for leaking the video of MSNBC host Lawrence O´Donnell´s infamous meltdown, during which he cursed at his crew and yelled about hearing random noises in his earpiece during a live broadcast of his show. Multiple sources said a male editor for the "Today" show compiled and leaked the eight-minute video to Mediaite last month of O´Donnell yelling at his staff during the Aug. 29 broadcast of his show, "The Last Word," according to Page Six. In the clip, an increasingly perturbed O’Donnell slams his fist on his desk, rants about "insanity in the
Bowe Bergdahl, the Army deserter who walked off his base in Afghanistan, is whining that the US treated him worse than the Taliban. The 31-year-old sergeant told British TV journalist Sean Langan in an interview reported in The Sunday Times of London: “At least the Taliban were honest enough to say, ‘I’m the guy who’s gonna cut your throat.’ ” That got him less upset than the “administrative duties” the Army assigned him while awaiting trial, he said. “Here, it could be the guy I pass in the corridor who’s going to sign the paper that sends me away for
Actor Tom Hanks is blasting President Trump for his handling of a phone call to the widow of a fallen U.S. soldier, calling it “one of the biggest c**k-ups on the planet Earth.” "I´m only knowing what I read in the newspapers and what have you, and it just seems like it´s one of the biggest c**k-ups on the planet Earth, if you ask me," Hanks said in an interview with CNN. "This is a tragedy of the utmost consequence and it goes much longer beyond who´s going to come out on top of the news story. I think it´s
Perhaps as startling as the revelation that the FBI was investigating the Hillary Clinton/Russia/Uranium One collusion and that key figures like Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, Special Counsel Robert Mueller and Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe knew about it and said nothing, is the refusal by Attorney General Jeff Sessions to remove the non-disclosure agreement gag order on the FBI informant who arguably could put Bill and Hillary Clinton and a few others in federal prison. It was said the Jeff Sessions recused himself from all things Russian because of election campaign conflicts but is it really because he thought it
Freelance reporter and political consultant Michael J. Hout tweeted a photo of Hillary Clinton using forearm crutches during a visit to Yale Law School Saturday. Clinton’s use of the walking aide comes after breaking her toe during a UK book tour to promote “What Happened.” Clinton visited her alma mater on the same day she held a book signing event at the Wesleyan R.J. Julia Bookstore in Middletown, CT. The bookstore had strict guidelines for book signing attendees — “She will sign a maximum of two books for each attendee and will not personalize books,” posted Wesleyan R.J. Julia Bookstore
Disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein has completed his one-week sex rehab program. A psychologist taking part in his treatment told TMZ that Weinstein would remain in Arizona for a month or so after his week of outpatient ´intensive therapy´ ends on Saturday. Weinstein was ´invested in the program´ and had focused on ´dealing with his anger, his attitude toward others, boundary work and the beginnings of work on empathy,´ the psychologist told the outlet with Weinstein´s permission. The psychologist downplayed previous reports that the 65-year-old film producer had fallen asleep in group sessions and ranted about conspiracy theories. ´He showed up for all the
Let’s put the Uranium One scandal in perspective: The cool half-million bucks the Putin regime funneled to Bill Clinton was five times the amount it spent on those Facebook ads — the ones the media-Democrat complex ludicrously suggests swung the 2016 presidential election to Donald Trump. The Facebook-ad buy, which started in June 2015 — before Donald Trump entered the race — was more left-wing agitprop (ads pushing hysteria on racism, immigration, guns, etc.) than electioneering. The Clintons’ own long-time political strategist Mark Penn estimates that just $6,500 went to actual electioneering. (You read that right: 65 hundred dollars.) By
Barack Obama claimed at a campaign rally on Thursday for Virginia Democrat gubernatorial candidate Ralph Northam that “democracy is at stake” in the Virginia governor’s race. Obama took to his first day back on the campaign trail to lament the way politics has turned “nasty,” and yet Obama melodramatically argued that Virginians need to vote for Democrat Ralph Northam because “democracy is at stake.” Obama told the Virginia audience, “America is a story of progress. Ralph Northam wants progress. He wants to take us forward, not backward. He wants to reach out for hope, not fear. We need you to
Former Secretary of State John Kerry on Thursday criticized President Donald Trump´s policies, warning that he risks driving Iran towards nuclear proliferation and worsening a standoff with North Korea if he ends the nuclear deal with Iran. “If you want to negotiate with (North Korean leader) Kim Jong Un, and your goal is to avoid war and try to be able to have a diplomatic resolution, the worst thing you can do is first threaten to destroy his country in the United Nations,” Kerry said in a private lecture delivered at Geneva’s Graduate Institute, according to Reuters. “And secondly, screw around with
WASHINGTON – Washington Post Executive Editor Marty Baron said President Trump declared war on the press but the media is not at war with him, despite the “hostile” environment that’s been created. “The president on his first day in office went to the CIA headquarters and he said, I have a war with the press. The reality is we don’t have a war with him: we are not at war, we are at work. We are doing our jobs every day the same way we have always done it. You talk about fact-checking; we’ve had a fact-checker at the Washington
Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) is no fan of President Donald J. Trump, but at a recent awards gala for LGBT youth, the bombastic Democrat made a disturbing claim that she would “take Trump out.” Kyle Olson of the American Mirror reported the statement on Friday, but Youtube pulled down the original video. At the Ali Forney Center gala in New York City, Waters jumped right into the liberal audience’s applause by making the off putting, only a mere four months after multiple Republican members of Congress were gunned down by a democrat mad-man who actually wanted to take them out.
n Monday, Sen. John McCain denounced President Trump’s philosophy, agenda, and conduct. On Thursday, former President George W. Bush did the same thing. Neither mentioned Trump by name, but their target was clear. They echoed former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who spoke out against Trump last year. These three indictments, issued by the men who represented the GOP in the four elections leading up to Trump’s, are more than ghosts of a dead party. They point toward an alternative vision of conservatism. Staff has corrected mispelled byline.
A plan to quadruple the size of the Alamo with a major restoration project has been attacked by conservatives over worries its history will be sanitized. At a time when Confederate statues are being removed across the country, some Texans are fearing the battle site will become the latest victim of ´political correctness´. Land Commissioner George P. Bush - son of former Florida governor Jeb - is overseeing a 7-year revamp of the shrine where 189 Texas independence fighters were killed by Mexican Gen. Santa Anna´s troops in 1836. The site´s size would quadruple after excavation and restoration of historical
