The pungent scent and smoke of weed mingled with that of jerk chicken on the grill in Brooklyn´s Crown Heights on Labor Day during New York´s annual Caribbean Carnival Parade. As steel bands and reggae music played from floats, a man worked a sidewalk hawking small clumps of marijuana from a Styrofoam take-out box. While savoring the festivities, I was grappling with a paradox. New York is not one of the nine U.S. states (including the District of Columbia) to have legalized recreational marijuana use. But if the many police officers there noticed its presence, they weren´t bothered. Back in Des Moines,
Comments: Broke one law after another. Thinks that entitles him to stay, ahead of all the millions waiting in line legally.
You can´t protest illegal aliens doing illegal activities while using illegally obtained Social Security numbers. That would mean you are a racist, or a xenophobe, or a white supremacist, or a Nazi - as opposed to being a taxpayer that is just sick and tired of being taken advantage of.
Lawyer´s name is Ta-Yu Yang. Why does this make me wonder how much the lawyer knows or cares about our country? May be wrong about that particular person, but we really need to slow down our legal immigration, too, to get a bit of integration of the massive numbers of strangers we have in our country, in addition to all the illegal aliens.
So called DACA teens are classified under the immigration laws as illegal aliens. Obama granting them DACA status did not change that. Illegal aliens are subject to being deported under the immigration laws.
Marihuana is an unlawful substance under federal law and several states taking it upon themselves to legalize marihuana under state or local laws did not change that. Illegal aliens convicted of possession of marihuana or other unlawful drugs are subject to being deported in accordance with the immigration laws.
Illegal aliens are living in their own dream world, have their own lawyers, and consider the immigration laws to be their enemy.
All DACA people are going to be deported because they are all here illegally. Whatever crimes they have committed here are just a bonus. Barry Obama should be deported with them to Mexico because he got them into this mess by his unlawful open gates policy. Let´s see how much they like him now.
The DACA illegal aliens blame the US Constitution and the immigration laws for the situation that they find themselves in. Since the immigration laws do not have a vote, while a lot of the DACA illegal aliens supporters are able to vote, there is no doubt that a lot of the D.C. "Swamp" politicians who are hungry for votes, will talk in support of the illegal aliens and essentially against the immigration laws that were passed by Congress (them) that provides that all illegal aliens found in the USA are subject to being deported.
Since leaving the Los Angeles mayor’s office in 2013, Antonio Villaraigosa has made more than $4 million by advising companies such as Herbalife, Banc of California and natural resources company Cadiz, teaching at the University of Southern California and earning speaking fees, according to tax returns his gubernatorial campaign released on Tuesday. In addition, Villaraigosa earns an annual pension payment worth around $100,000 from his years serving in local government. Villaraigosa is the final Democratic candidate running for governor to release his tax returns. He allowed reporters to review six years of returns Tuesday morning at the San Francisco office of his
Robert Mugabe resigned as Zimbabwe’s president on Tuesday, finally swept from power as his 37-year reign of autocratic control and brutality crumbled within days of a military takeover. The move looks set to end Zimbabwe’s worst political crisis since it won independence from Britain in 1980. The bombshell announcement sparked cheers at a special joint session of parliament convened to impeach Mugabe, 93, who has dominated every aspect of Zimbabwean public life for decades. On the streets, the news sparked wild celebrations, with car horns being honked and people erupting into ecstatic cheers and frenzied dancing.
SAN DIEGO - One person apparently drowned and up to seven others may have tried to enter the United States through the rough surf off La Jolla overnight, firefighters said Sunday. Lifeguards were called to the rocks just north of Tourmaline Beach at about 11 p.m. Saturday on a report of a person yelling from the water, San Diego Fire-Rescue Department spokeswoman Monica Munoz said. A rescue boat crew found a 32-year-old man from Mexico swimming and hauled him to shore, authorities said. The man told lifeguards there were more people in the water. Lifeguards called other agencies for help after spotting a
New York Times journalist Glenn Thrush has been suspended following sexual misconduct allegations. A spokeswoman for the Times said Thrush is suspended while the publication investigates, according to Vox. "The behavior attributed to Glenn in this Vox story is very concerning and not in keeping with the standards and values of The New York Times,” said Eileen Murphy, the newspaper´s senior vice president of communications, in a statement to Vox. “We intend to fully investigate and while we do, Glenn will be suspended. We support his decision to enter a substance abuse program. In the meantime, we will not be commenting further.” Vox interviewed
Zimbabwe´s President Robert Mugabe has shocked expectations that he would resign by pledging to remain on as leader of his ZANU-PF party in an address to the nation. That despite the party removing him as leader earlier in the day. The party’s Central Committee had given the 93-year old less than 24 hours to vacate his office or face impeachment. The move was an attempt to draw his lengthy reign to a close following a de facto coup. However when he addressed the nation on Sunday, Mugabe made no mention of resigning. In a long speech Mugabe vowed to preside over
Zimbabwe’s hideous 93-year-old dictator, Robert Mugabe, was given until noon Monday by his former security chief to pack his bags or leave the Ceaucescu way. If Mugabe refused to go, “We will bring back the crowds and they will do their business,” Mutsvangwa told reporters. Reuters continued: [Emmerson] Mnangagwa, a former state security chief known as “The Crocodile,” is expected to head an interim post-Mugabe unity government that will focus on rebuilding ties with the outside world and stabilising an economy in freefall.
The founder of the opposition research firm behind the Trump dossier told Congress this week that he regretted that the fruits of his investigation of a critic of the Kremlin were provided to and used by a top Russian government official. A source familiar with Glenn Simpson’s testimony told The Daily Caller that the Fusion GPS partner also told the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) that he knew that Christopher Steele, the British spy who wrote the dossier, had provided briefings to the FBI during the campaign. Simpson, who testified behind closed doors for nearly seven hours on Tuesday, denied
Bad as the 18 corruption charges against New Jersey´s Sen. Bob Menendez were, the original motive behind the Justice Department´s prosecution against him was worse. That´s worth remembering as the news of his hung-jury trial probably amounts to an acquittal, given that most jurors (8-2) thought the charges of funds for favors were unproven, and prosecutors may be reluctant to retry against those odds. According to the New York Daily News: Prosecutors assembled a mountain of evidence that Menendez traded hundreds of thousands of dollars in gifts and campaign contributions from a scam-artist Florida ophthalmologist for official favors. No conviction. The Washington Post
Venezuela has been declared a deadbeat on its debt by both Fitch Ratings and Standard & Poor´s after it couldn´t cough up $260 million for a couple of sovereign bond payments. Now any bond with Venezuela´s name on it – and all the bonds issued in the country – will be affected. This will add up to billions. All that´s left now is for the repo men of the bond world, the Investment Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA), to declare default to trigger cross-default clauses on a type of bond insurance known as credit default swaps for the deed to
Republican Roy Moore is on the hot seat for alleged bad behavior around women and girls some 40 years ago. Why aren´t Democrats Joe Biden and Bob Menendez as well? Former vice president Biden, recall, has a long history of groping women, touching them inappropriately in public, making them obviously uncomfortable, as some of these photos show. Biden is in line as a top Democratic Party contender for the presidency, and nobody´s saying a thing about this. Substantially worse than Biden is Democratic senator Bob Menendez, now on trial in New Jersey for corruption. He´s been accused of having a penchant for
S&P Global Ratings downgraded Venezuela´s foreign currency sovereign credit rating late Monday beyond junk to "selective default" after it failed to make two payments within a grace period. There´s still hope for restructuring with only some issues in peril. But Venezuela´s unpaid obligations total $420 million, and four additional coupon payments are overdue but within their grace periods. S&P lowered two issues´ ratings to "D" (default) and said there is a one in two chance that the government could "default again" over the next three months. On Monday, bondholders met in Caracas at the invitation of President Nicolas Maduro to discuss
Venezuela, one of the world’s riskiest credits, was declared in default by S&P Global Ratings after missing two interest payments on its debt. The nation, home to the world’s largest oil reserves, owed investors about $200 million and failed to make those payments by the end of a 30-day grace period that expired over the weekend, S&P said in a statement in which it lowered the country’s rating to SD. Plagued with payment delays and running low on cash, it’s the first time in recent years the government has exceeded the buffer period on its bonds. State oil producer Petroleos de
Former IRS executive Lois G. Lerner told a federal court last week that members of her family, including “young children,” face death threats and a real risk of physical harm if her explanation of the tea party targeting scandal becomes public. Ms. Lerner and Holly Paz, her deputy at the IRS, filed documents in court Thursday saying tapes and transcripts of depositions they gave in a court case this year must remain sealed in perpetuity, or else they could spur an enraged public to retaliate. “Whenever Mss. Lerner and Paz have been in the media spotlight, they have faced death threats and
Doug Jones, the Democrat running for Alabama’s U.S. Senate seat, says he loves to hunt but the Second Amendment has “limitations.” He believes that every right enumerated in the Bill of Rights is limited, and the Second Amendment is no exception.According to the Alabama Political Reporter, Jones described himself as “a Second Amendment guy,” but stressed that some gun control is necessary. He said, “We’ve got limitations on all constitutional amendments in one form or another.” This position is contrary to the clear language of the amendment, which states that the right to keep and bear arms “shall not be
Malia Obama appears to be settling in just fine at Harvard. On Saturday, former President Obama´s eldest daughter was caught making out with a handsome fellow Crimson fan at the annual Harvard-Yale game. Yale hosted this year´s face off, which saw Harvard students decamping down to New Haven to tailgate at their rival´s campus before the game. The 19-year-old former first daughter, who took a gap year before starting at Harvard this fall, was seen locking lips with a mystery man at the festivities outside of the Yale Bowl. Video shows the moment Malia reached up and put her arms
Kathy Griffin is coming unglued. The D-list comedian, who was blasted for releasing a photo of herself holding a bloody severed head that looked like President Trump, posted another bizarre video to her YouTube page on Saturday. In the video, which she called the "State of the Union," she said, "I´m admitting that I lost my mind." The 57-year-old claimed she´s on Interpol’s list and is being shunned by Hollywood. “I just want you guys to know that I am fully in the middle of a blacklist, like I’m in the middle of a Hollywood blacklist. It is real. I’m not booked on any
Imagine: even the New York Times’ Ross Douthat now thinks that Bill Clinton should have stepped down over the Monica Lewinsky affair. Douthat’s mea culpa op-ed in this past weekend’s paper, in which he confesses that he and others may have been wrong to dismiss Bill Clinton’s indefensible behavior, will serve as the official political obituary for Clinton, Inc. Hillary Clinton is done, finished, kaput. Dogged by scandals old and new, out of step politically, her excess baggage has morphed into an entire baggage train, dragging her towards political oblivion. While it is refreshing to consider the landscape unadorned by Clintons,
A federal judge on Monday permanently blocked President Trump’s executive order to cut funding from so called “sanctuary cities.” Trump’s order would have removed some federal funds from cities that limit their cooperation with U.S. immigration authorities. U.S. District Court Judge William Orrick rejected the Trump administration’s argument that the measure only applies to a relatively small pool of money. Orrick also said that Trump cannot set fresh conditions on spending that Congress has previously approved. Monday’s ruling came in lawsuits brought by two California counties, Santa Clara and San Francisco.
ALBANY — Fox News host and TV judge Jeanine Pirro is heading to court herself after being ticketed for excessive speeding Sunday in upstate New York. State Police say Pirro was clocked driving 119 mph in a 65 mph zone when she was stopped by a trooper at about 1:15 p.m. Sunday afternoon in the Town of Nichols in Tioga County. A police source said she was driving a Cadillac. In a statement released by Fox News, Pirro said she was racing to see her sick mother in Elmira. “I had been driving for hours to visit my ailing 89-year-old
Charles Manson, the hippie cult leader who became the hypnotic-eyed face of evil across America after orchestrating the gruesome murders of pregnant actress Sharon Tate and six others in Los Angeles during the summer of 1969, died Sunday after nearly a half-century in prison. He was 83. Manson, whose name to this day is synonymous with unspeakable violence and madness, died of natural causes at Kern County hospital, according to a California Department of Corrections statement. TMZ was first to report on the killer´s death. The celebrity-news site reported that Debra Tate, the sister of Sharon, said she received a call
Brooklyn College is kowtowing to cop-hating students by directing officers who need a bathroom break to the broken-down facilities in a building on the far edge of campus. Amid a planned petition drive to ban cops from the taxpayer-funded campus, Donald Wenz, the school’s director of public safety, told the student newspaper The Excelsior that he’s trying to keep New York’s Finest out of sight. While Wenz said all of the school’s restrooms were technically open to cops, the college prefers they stick to those in the isolated West End Building, “rather than walking across either quad to use the
WASHINGTON — Maine Sen. Susan Collins went further Sunday than most of her Republican colleagues in expressing worry about the sexual assault allegations against President Donald Trump, saying they were one of the reasons she did not vote for him.“Those allegations remain very disturbing,” Collins said in an interview on ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos.” She added that she did not support Trump in the 2016 campaign in part because of news reports about women accusing him of unwanted touching or kissing.
Over the last few days, I’ve had a number of conversations with both right- and left-leaning friends about the political futures of Al Franken and Roy Moore. Without equating the severity of the alleged offenses (Moore’s are obviously worse), I’ve been struck by the extent to which people across the political spectrum will tolerate misconduct in politicians that they’d never, ever tolerate in their own workplaces. In most functioning corporations, if there’s pictorial evidence that a senior executive groped a woman, then that executive is forced to resign. If there are known, credible allegations that an applicant for a senior
Former President Bill Clinton continues to remain silent about the 26 flights he took aboard convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s private jet, dubbed the “Lolita Express,” which reportedly offered underage girls to passengers to rape.Fox News wrote in 2016 that the Lolita Express, a Boeing 727 jet, was “reportedly outfitted with a bed where passengers had group sex with young girls.” Clinton flew on some trips where the flight logs showed only the first names of female passengers. The Daily Caller News Foundation contacted the Clinton Presidential Library last week to obtain information about the former president’s relationship with billionaire Epstein,
