ROME — As he flew near Caribbean islands devastated by Hurricane Irma on his way back to the Vatican from Colombia on Sunday, Pope Francis said that political leaders and others who denied climate change reminded him of a passage from the psalms about man’s stubbornness. “Man is stupid, the Bible said,” he said. “It’s like that, when you don’t want to see, you don’t see.” In a typically wide-ranging news conference that included his questioning of United States President Donald J. Trump’s commitment to issues of life because of his plan to strip undocumented immigrant children of protections from
Comments: Just shut and preach and stay out of leftist politics!! I´m so sick of this Communist Pope. It further proves that the radical left has infiltrated the Catholic church. As is shown in the link below that has been the goal of the evil Soros and John Podesta. I´m not Catholic, but it sure makes me sick for all of those who are. https://blogs.spectator.co.uk/2016/10/democrats-infiltrated-catholic-church/
Contd. It really is telling that he made comments while flying over the devastation in the Caribbean and didn´t care about those who suffered such destruction. Instead he used it as a forum for hateful, needless political rhetoric. Where is is concern and prayers for those poor devastated people? He´s just disgusting.
I don´t think it is simply the job of the Pope to shut up and pray or to even butt out of American politics. He is the head of the Catholic Church. In this sense, wherever evil resides he needs to confront it. If the US was involved in evil, like Hitler evil, he has a responsibility to speak out. Considering disputed science, he needs to leave it to the secular world. Abortion is an evil, not a mere American act. He needs to speak out. DACA is not an evil, it is the American political system at work. Not only is that none of his business, he is hypocritical, given his wall; and the hypocrisy is damaging to the Church. This Pope seem hellbent on blowing a great opportunity. He seems to be foundering. He seems to lack an coherent understanding of his role. He needs to focus on providing guidance on the evils of our times. To draw clear lines on those corrupting forces. He seems confused like I would be but not the Agent of God. We face much confusion and evil and we need a clear sighted leader whether we are Catholics or not. Dare I say he seems to be the victim of the Pete Principal?
I am a Catholic but every time this Pope opens his mouth he spews his leftist leanings. He is a communist at heart and I don´t think he likes the USA as he makes every effort to disrespect the American government and our POTUS.
I wish someone would ask the pope what happened to the billions of $$$ the climate change people , previously known as global warming, took from taxpayers. Did it cure anything? My guess it was spent on air travel, 5 star resorts & restaurants, TV ads.
Although the election of Pope Francis was VALID, it now seems to be an imprudent choice. Having said that, I am truly dismayed by the terribly disrespectful posts by Catholics and non-Catholics alike. I, too, am in agreement that this pontiff appears to be quite leftist in his leanings. If people are truly concerned about the truth than the most charitable thing for us is to PRAY that the RC Church survives this upheaval. FYI, Pope Emeritus Benedict lives within the Vatican walls and NOT at Castle Gandolfo. He is a saving grace for the church.
I also agree with the poster who noticed that the Pope, flying over all the ravaged and devastation of the Caribbean islands would not say something comforting for these poor people to strengthen them in the aftermath of Irma. No, Francis continues to strike out at us "climate deniers" and our POTUS for rejecting the illegal, and also, unconstitutional EO known as DACA!! As we know, Presidents DON´T LEGISLATE, CONGRESS DOES!! Let us continue to PRAY for all those people left in the paths of Harvey & Irma.
The whole "climate change" issue is all about pollution with the added bonus of looking for a new tax source (i.e. cap and trade).
The Paris Accords told us that, since only 0.17 C would be reduced if EVERY goal was met by EVERY nation - by the year 2100.
Would not likely be noticed by most people.
DACA, was an EO, by a president who repeatedly stated he didn´t have the authority to do what he did, but did it anyhow for political calculations, only to find out by the Courts it was unconstitutional, and now Democrats are suing over an unconstitutional EO to be followed regardless.
I would say, Your Holiness, that Jesus was referring to you and people like you, when he said, "Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees." You, Sir do not know of what you speak.
The directives given by St.Paul in Romans13, especially Verses1-7, “SubmissionToAuthorities,” make clear that God expects believers to obey government laws—except when government laws demand disobeying God’s commands. As St.Paul wrote, there is no authority except from God, so resisting governing authorities resists what God has appointed and will incur judgment. Illegal immigration is violating this country’s immigration laws and God’s expectation of obedience to laws. It may do well for the pope, politicians, mainstream media,GOPe, and Never-Trumpers to realize their scheming, scorn, and willful resistance to President Trump is scorning what God has put in place. God selects heads of nations.
BTW, the Catholic Church didn´t have a "pedophile" problem, it unfortunately had a homosexual problem with young adult males, not children. The percentage was small, but NO amount of abuse should ever be tolerated.
Country music singer Neal McCoy takes a jab at former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and others who protested the national anthem by taking a knee in his newest single he debuted last week. The song, “Take a Knee, My Ass (I Won’t Take a Knee),” was performed in front of a small audience on Oct. 8th and shared online as a Facebook Live video, which has since gone viral. (Snip) The song, which McCoy notes was written by a friend of his, cites the armed forces as a reason why he proudly stands for the national anthem. “I’ve
Ohio State Supreme Court Justice Bill O´Neill is something of an eccentric character. After repeated unsuccessful campaigns for Congress and for Ohio´s Supreme Court, the Democrat shocked everyone when he won his current seat in 2012. He knocked off a Republican incumbent despite promising to take no campaign contributions, in part thanks to backlash against a scorched-earth Republican campaign ad against him, accusing him of expressing sympathy for rapists. Speaking of which, O´Neill is in the news again today for his um...unorthodox response to the current controversy over alleged sexual harassment or assault by Minnesota Sen. Al Franken, Judge Roy Moore,
One year after losing the presidential race, 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton is still questioning the “legitimacy” of President Trump’s victory, accusing Republicans of voter suppression tactics in swing states and Russians of influencing votes through a “disinformation campaign.” “I think that there are lots of questions about its legitimacy,” Clinton said of the election during a video interview posted online Friday by the liberal Mother Jones website. Clinton lamented how “we don’t have a method for contesting” the election in the United States and called for an independent commission to “get to the bottom of what happened.” She suggested that she
The NFL has come out against House Republicans’ tax cut bill, putting the league out on a political limb even as it deals with the fallout from national anthem protests. Other big pro sports leagues are staying out of the fight, but a spokesman for the National Football League said teams don’t want to lose a special tax break that allows them to use tax-free bonds to build stadiums. The NFL says it deserves the break because new stadiums create jobs. “You can look around the country and see the economic development that’s generated from some of these stadiums,” Joe Lockhart, a former
One of the Clinton family’s most aggressive defenders lashed out overnight at a Democratic senator who said Bill Clinton should have resigned the presidency over his affair with Monica Lewinsky. “Ken Starr spent $70 million on a consensual b***job. Senate voted to keep POTUS WJC. But not enough for you @SenGillibrand? Over 20 yrs you took the Clintons’ endorsements, money, and seat. Hypocrite,” former Hillary Clinton adviser Philippe Reines tweeted late Thursday, at Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y. (Snip) The graphic jab came after Gillibrand leveled some of the highest-level criticism yet at former President Clinton. “Yes, I think that is
The deadly plague will never be eradicated, scientists have warned amid fears the situation in Madagascar is spiralling out of control. At least 171 people have died in the country off the coast of Africa´s ´worst outbreak in 50 years´ and 2,119 have been infected, World Health Organization figures show. International aid workers are desperately battling to contain the ´crisis´, which has prompted 10 nearby African countries to be placed on high alert by the WHO. Professor Allen Cheng, an infectious disease expert at Monash University, warned of the dangers of the plague and said this year´s outbreak has been
Civil rights activist Jesse Jackson, 76, has been diagnosed with Parkinson´s disease. Jackson made the announcement in a letter and said he first noticed physical changes about three years ago. The disease also affected his father. Parkinson´s is an incurable neurological disorder that can cause tremors, stiffness and difficulty balancing, walking and coordinating movement. ´My family and I began to notice changes about three years ago,´ Jackson wrote in a statement. ´After a battery of tests, my physicians identified the issue as Parkinson´s disease, a disease that bested my father.´ ´Recognition of the effects of this disease on me has been painful, and
As the breaking story of Al Franken‘s lewd behavior toward Leeann Tweeden during a USO tour in 2006 was developing Thursday, MSNBC’s Capitol Hill Correspondent Kasie Hunt reported to viewers that Franken was “not actually groping” Tweeden in the famous photo that shook the political and media landscape. (Snip) Not only is this “reporting” inaccurate, Hunt seems to present a political argument that even Franken is not making in his own defense. “Potentially — not actually groping, but mock-groping” is how Hunt, the reporter delivered the news. How does she know this? What facts have been presented to support this? I
The Florida Democratic Party chairman is resigning after a report that he makes women feel uncomfortable. Stephen Bittel released a brief statement on the party´s Twitter account Friday shortly after four of his party´s candidates for governor called for him to step down.(Snip) Bittel apologized and said he didn´t want his personal situation to be distraction ahead of next year´s elections. Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, former Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine, former U.S. Rep. Gwen Graham and businessman Chris King all issued statements demanding Bittel leave the post he´s held since January.
The terror-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations and the city of New York have teamed to launch a far-Left “social justice” project called “AMPLIFY” (Advancing the Front Lines of Social Justice), hoping to promote awareness for the fringe issues that motivate the leftist-Islamist alliance. (Snip) Since becoming mayor of the city in 2014, Bill de Blasio has worked closely with CAIR on several projects, including adding Muslim holidays as mandatory days off in the public schools system. CAIR was founded in 1994 by members of the Muslim Brotherhood, with the goal of creating a support network in the United States for the
Washington’s Museum of the Bible will be opening its doors to visitors this weekend. Privately funded by Steve Green, the evangelical owner of the arts and crafts retail chain of Hobby Lobby, the $500 million museum will feature a huge array of artifacts both from Green’s private collection and from traveling exhibits from around the world. The museum, which its website says aims to engage visitors with the history, narrative, and impact of the Bible, is opening amid some controversy after Green settled a $3 million case involving smuggling artifacts earlier this year. But the Museum of the Bible´s opening is also hotly
Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) admonished Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) for accusing Republicans of writing the tax bill "for the rich" at a late night hearing on amendments and markups. "With all due respect, I get sick and tired of the rich getting richer," Brown said in a diatribe against Republicans. "I come from the poor people, and I have been here working my whole stinkin´ career for people who don´t have a chance, and I really resent anybody that says I´m doing it for the rich. Give me a break. I think you guys
LaVar Ball, whose son was one of the three UCLA basketball players detained in China for shoplifting last week, said "who?" when asked about President Trump´s role in getting the players released. "Who?" Ball told ESPN when asked about Trump´s role. "What was he over there for? Don´t tell me nothing. Everybody wants to make it seem like he helped me out.” (Snip) Like I told him, 'They try to make a big deal out of nothing sometimes.' I'm from L.A. I've seen a lot worse things happen than a guy taking some glasses."
What a disgusting cesspool of self-serving corruption is the nation’s capital and no better example of that can be found today than Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell who, according to longtime political activist, Ned Ryun, was a primary source of the anti-Roy Moore stories that are now attempting to sway the upcoming Alabama special election and help clear the path for a Trump impeachment attempt in 2018.“…I strongly suspect it’s a very short list of people, all who are associated with Mitch McConnell – whether it’s Josh Holmes, whether it’s Karl Rove, might even be Steven Law – I don’t
Once upon a time, Hillary Clinton thought the prospect of a presidential candidate declining to pledge to absolutely accept the sanctity of certified election results was "horrifying." She said so in a general election debate in order to attack Donald Trump -- who, at the time, was (recklessly) leaving the door open to challenge the outcome of an election most people expected him to lose. Chief among these people was Hillary Clinton. That´s why she excoriated his dodging and noncommittal answers on the question as dangerous to American democracy. (Snip for video)[Clinton] said she found “horrifying” the intimation he would
The father of one of the UCLA basketball players arrested on suspicion of shoplifting while on tour in China isn´t praising President Donald Trump for his involvement in their release. When asked by ESPN what role the president played in brokering his son´s freedom, LaVar Ball — a former basketball player himself and star on the Facebook reality series "Ball in the Family" — responded with his own questions. "Who? What was he over there for? Don´t tell me nothing," Ball said. "Everybody wants to make it seem like he helped me out." Ball in EPSN´s report on Saturday also downplayed
Mark Osborne writes at ABC News that Republican Senator Jeff Flake was caught on a hot mic criticizing President Donald Trump and Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore: Sen. Jeff Flake, a frequent sparring partner of President Donald Trump, continues to make enemies in his own party after calling the GOP “toast” while unaware he was still on a live mic. Flake, R-Ariz., was at a tax reform event in Mesa, Arizona on Friday night when he was caught bashing the president in a conversation with friend, Mesa Mayor John Giles. “If we become the party of Roy Moore and Donald
While editing ‘Vanity Fair’ in the ’80s and ’90s, Daily Beast founder Tina Brown confided some of her best dish to her now published diary, including this gem about Jackie Kennedy. Thursday, July 6, 1989 Quogue- I love how New York changes so completely in the summer. It’s my favorite time of year here, sitting at my wooden desk before the open window with the cool sea breeze. The August issue arrived by FedEx. The Jackie O cover story, and Michael Milken’s rise and fall by Marie, is a much more commercial combo than July. To generate some summer heat I assigned Ed Klein to do Jackie to mark her sixtieth birthday. I asked him because he was always going on about how she liked him when he edited The New York Times Magazine.
NEW YORK — Kirsten Gillibrand is having a moment, whether she meant to or not. Going where no other prominent Democrat had before on Thursday evening by declaring that Bill Clinton should have resigned the presidency during the Monica Lewinsky scandal, the New York senator and potential 2020 presidential contender yet again found herself the face of a national conversation with the potential to dominate headlines and divide her party. At a time Democrats are desperate to keep the focus on accusations against President Donald Trump and Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore, Gillibrand’s stand shocked even some of her close allies. They
A Democratic congresswoman says she was sexually assaulted by a “prominent, historical” senator in the 1980s — and “everyone on Capitol Hill knew” that he was a harasser. “Historical figure, hand kept going up the leg, I took it off. A women member was at the table, recognized what was happening, and said, ‘switch places,´” Michigan Rep. Debbie Dingell told CNN. (Snip) Dingell said it happened in her first year of marriage to Rep. John Dingell, whom she wed in 1981. But despite the 36-year time gap, Dingell said she’s still afraid to name the prominent perv.
In a textbook example of why Facebook users should pause for a moment of reflection before they post, a Democratic candidate for Ohio governor sought Friday to get ahead of any potential sex scandals by announcing the details of his relationships with 50 women. The sexcapade diary was in response to the Al Franken scandal, and included a hayloft romp with a "gorgeous blonde" and a fling with a "red head from Cleveland." “Now that the dogs of war are calling for the head of Senator Al Franken I believe it is time to speak up on behalf of all heterosexual males,”
Former Democratic Rep. Corrine Brown asked for leniency from a federal judge in Florida on Friday. She faces a lengthy prison term after being convicted of stealing thousands of dollars that were meant to go to charity. In May, a jury convicted Brown of 18 felony counts, including filing false tax returns, mail fraud, and working with others to run a fake non-profit group. Her conviction represents a major fall from political grace. Brown was one of the first black elected officials to be elected to federal office in Florida in 1992. She represented the Jacksonville, Florida area in the
Gov. Chris Christie refrained from saying "I told you so" when he introduced Ivanka Trump at an appearance in Bayville earlier this week. But he had every right to, especially when it comes to the recent developments concerning his old rival Jeff Sessions. During the presidential campaign last year, the governor of New Jersey and the then-Senator from Alabama were among the first prominent Republicans to come out for Donald Trump. At one point in that campaign, Trump said Christie would make "a great attorney general" in the event he won the election. Trump went on to win, but Christie lost
More than two dozen investigators have spent weeks scouring wine country trying to solve the mystery at the heart of the most destructive wildfires in California history: What caused the infernos that killed 43 people and destroyed more than 8,000 buildings? The answers will have wide-ranging ramifications for the region, which faces staggering losses and a challenging rebuilding effort. Losses from insured properties alone are expected to far exceed $1 billion, and the total bill for the fires will be still higher. Just fighting the fires cost $189 million, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. Cal Fire is
